The Bros. Landreth return to Hidden Track for a Season 5 Session! When they started their band, it was just an excuse to spend time together, given that the brothers David and Joey Landreth were often embroiled in their careers as top–call players in the Winnipeg music scene. The brothers came together to write some original songs and their first album as The Bros. Landreth was born. Released independently without much fanfare, Let It Lie soon drew them an audience from across the world. It's somewhat ironic that the album is titled “Let It Lie”, as it did anything but lay down - especially where the Bro's musical careers are concerned! Ten years on, this beautiful album continues to resonate and do astonishing things in the world. For instance – it would have seemed impossible for David and Joey to believe in 2013 that a decade later, they could say that a song on this album has been recorded by one of their all-time heroes, Bonnie Raitt – and that it won a Grammy Award! It says a lot about the work ethic of the Bros. Landreth that their way of celebrating the debut record's 10th anniversary was no mere victory lap. Instead, they created a whole new version of the album – featuring acoustic re-interpretations of all the songs on Let It Lie – and took it on the road for a gigantic tour. It was during that tour that the band found themselves with a couple days off in Alberta! Between their sold-out concerts, the Bros. Landreth elected to play a free Saturday covers set at a local pub and took a trip down to CKUA's Edmonton Performance Space for this beautiful Hidden Track Session. Something of an intergenerational affair, this Session features David Landreth on bass (and some harmonica). Then, on acoustic guitars, we have: Joey Landreth, long-time collaborator Murray Pulver, (from hitmaking Winnipeg bands like Crash Test Dummies and Doc Walker); and the band's drummer, Roman Clarke, a great young multi-instrumentalist, who like everyone else in this session, is an absolute monster singer and musician – as well as a kind-hearted, down-to-earth, sincere, and hilarious human being. This episode is a candid visit with the Bros. Landreth – in conversation, plus live performances of three songs from Let It Lie: "Nothing", "Where Were We", and that Grammy-winning song of theirs, "Made Up Mind". Host: Grant Stovel | Producer: Scott Zielsdorf | Graphics: Craig Taffs | Music: Doug Hoyer Session recording: Scott Zielsdorf | Mixing: Duke Paetz | Video Editor: Jasmine Vickaryous. God is looking for people who have determined in their minds to remain faithful even in the midst of the most trying of circumstances. This week, Charles Tapp continues with part 5 of his series "Christ First: A Journey Through the Book of Revelation" as he helps you discover for yourself where you stand, in his message "With A Made Up Mind."
When someone asks you where you want to eat, does your mind dart back and forth between restaurants? Is it hard for you to make a decision? Whether you're trying to lose weight, finish your degree, or get out of debt life is about commitment. It's about not breaking promises to yourself. Today is the day to decide. It doesn't matter my circumstances, how I feel, or what is going on in my life. I commit 100%. You do and your goal will be met. Remember this, "There is nothing more powerful than a made up mind." Think About It: This is an integrity question. Double mindedness breaks down your confidence. Predetermine how your day is going to be. Canadian alt-country group the Bros. Landreth have become known for bringing not just layers of blues, rock, and eclectic modern influence to the traditional country sound, but for Joey Landreth's depth as a guitarist and stunning tone on the instrument.Built on a lifetime of brothers Joey and Dave's absorbing classic country music, the band was launched with the release of 2013's Let It Lie, through which they not-long-after made a mark on the scene when the album garnered a JUNO Award for Roots and Traditional Album of the Year in 2015. Following the release of 2019's '87, the group later received another major accolade when Bonnie Raitt covered Let It Lie's “Made Up Mind” on her 2022 release, Just Like That…While the original lineup included drummer Ryan Voth and pianist Alex Campbell, and the band has toured with guitarist Ariel Posen, the brothers have since taken a step back from the larger band arrangement to lead as a duo. Their latest, 2022's Coming Home, spotlights the two in that dynamic, while featuring a few backing players.Joey Landreth hung with John Bohlinger and the PG team before the Bros. Landreth's show at Nashville's Riverside Revival, where Landreth played some mind-blowing guitar and demoed his unique method for reproducing his studio sound live.Brought to you by D'Addario String Finder.Mentioned in this episode:Shred With ShiftyDid you ever wonder how the most epic guitar solos of our time were crafted? Welcome to Season 4 of the Life Lessons Podcast! We're starting this season off where everything starts: CHOICE! And, in order to make a choice, you first have to have a made-up mind. So many of US don't realize we don't make choices with CONSCIOUS INTENTION! Our choices are often made out of desperation and short term relief. Question: how often have you made choices without even processing the picture that you would like to see the choice develop? When you're taking a picture, you pose based on what you want to see reflected back after the moment is gone and the picture is taken. You choose your expression, your background, your garb based on what you want to be translated from your mind and the moment to the picture, right? We have to start using this same principle when it comes to life choices. First thinking and considering what we want see when we "look back at it." Then, only placing ourselves in positions and around things that yield the best outcome or sketch what we foresaw in our minds. Making sure the outcomes match the desires! Making choices that feed your passions, not your phobias. Let's talk about it.

Please enjoy this podcast on the subject topic: A Made-up mind! It takes a lot to make it through this world. We need our mind and a real relationship with Jesus Christ. We must have our mind intact and free from the evil one that provokes; and makes some deranged, demented, irritated and foolish. We are surrounded by a sea of foolishness. Most people aren't counting on God to help them, daily in their thought process or to have a made-up mind to follow Jesus Christ. We need truth and to tell people the truth, That Truth is Jesus. In addition to truth, we need justice, wisdom and sound reasoning which comes from a sound mind. This is where A Made-up Mindcomes from. May is mental health awareness and we need more people to be aware of not only their mental health but their spiritual health as well. Listen to this podcast and if you've haven't made up your mind to follow Jesus Christ, I pray that you will make the decision today. If you feel that you're in need of mental help, please see a therapist as soon as possible and send me your name so that I can be in prayer for you. Thanks for tuning in. Tune in every Thursday for Heart Talks and the inspirational message. I pray that you have A Made-up Mindand hold on to it. Hello beautiful people. It's a steamy hot July day in the valley. Alex and I visited the Appalachian Vibes Festival grounds at Mountain Valley Brewing in Axton, VA. Lemme just say, it's going to be incredible. The property is beautiful, the beer...is amazing, talented vendors, fire dancers, kids stuff, late night disco....3 days of local/regional bands, camping...just an incredible time around really good, talented folks. For more information:https://www.eventbrite.com/e/appalachian-vibes-music-festival-tickets-159267881521This week I featured Charlottesville's Dara James, Franklin Co VA native, Jojo Stockton and the dynamic Appalachian inspired folk band from Chicago, by way of JMU in Harrisonburg VA, Palmyra. Dara James - performed original songs: " Made Up Mind", "February 7", "The Myth", His upcoming EP is called Her Light, dedicated to his daughter in her memory. To learn more about Dara James, where he plays, when his album comes out-check out:https://darajamesmusic.com/ My second guest is the hardest working musician I know. He brings so many people together with an open warm heart. If you come through the SW VA region, you gotta meet Jojo Stockton; especially if you're a player. He is known for bringing in and nurturing new, upcoming musicians. Jojo stopped by the studio to share a 6 month update on how things are unfolding for him after the pandemic subsided, at least somewhat it seems. He has a new EP called Dreaming coming out soon. Find him on FB...that's the best spot he has to connect with folks.
