In this Geek Freaks episode, we celebrate Spiderman Day by discussing the live-action Spider-Man films, Tom Holland's new suit, and the ongoing shoot in Glasgow. The conversation then shifts to the future of the Hulk storyline in the MCU, speculation on God of War and Wolfenstein TV adaptations, and the potential for a Star Trek “Year One” series. We dive into the legality of fan art after recent Pokémon TCG drama, and our hosts share their picks for the best movies, games, comics, and TV shows so far in 2025. Tune in for an engaging discussion that blends nostalgia with fresh perspectives, complete with listener recommendations and a sneak preview of what's coming next. Timestamped Topics Time Topic 00:00:00–00:00:21 Introduction: Celebrating Spiderman Day and upcoming topics 00:01:37–00:02:44 Live-action Spider-Man rankings; Tobey Maguire vs. Tom Holland vs. Andrew Garfield 00:04:45–00:07:31 Behind the scenes of Spider-Man filming: New suit, Tony Stark tech, and potential nostalgic callbacks 00:07:31–00:12:17 Hulk's role in the upcoming Spider-Man film and possible MCU storylines 00:15:17–00:19:09 Amazon's God of War adaptation: Norse mythology focus and game-to-TV transition 00:21:37–00:22:23 Wolfenstein TV series speculation and Amazon's track record after Fallout 00:23:32–00:31:07 Star Trek “Year One” concept and the future of Strange New Worlds 00:31:07–00:39:28 Mid-show break: Listener poll results, favorite live-action Spidey, and comic conventions 00:41:00–00:51:20 Best of 2025 so far: Movies, animated movies, video games, and comics 00:55:02–01:04:47 Legality of fan art: Pokémon TCG controversy and a deeper discussion on copyright 01:04:47–01:13:42 Recommendations: Hello Kitty's “My Melody and Kuromi” series and the wholesome Dropout show “Game Changer” 01:13:42–end Wrap up: Thanking listeners, inviting questions, and previewing the next episode Key Takeaways Live-Action Spider-Man Debate: Tobey Maguire remains a nostalgic favorite, but the hosts note that Tom Holland's portrayal captures the youthful energy of the comics. Andrew Garfield's films still deserve a watch for a fresh perspective. Spider-Man Day Preview: Filming for the new movie is underway in Glasgow and Pinewood Studios. The new suit seen in set photos may just be an early version; expect a Stark Tech upgrade later on. Hulk in the MCU: The show explores theories about bringing a “classic Hulk” back. If Bruce Banner loses control, it could set up a “Hulk vs. Punisher” scenario in the next Spider-Man film. God of War Adaptation: Amazon's series is confirmed to draw on the 2018 Norse storyline. The hosts hope to see Kratos' Greek mythology past referenced through flashbacks and deeper character development. Wolfenstein & Fallout Success: Wolfenstein could take a campy, bullet-heavy approach similar to Amazon's Fallout. The show creators hope Amazon will continue its good run of game adaptations. Star Trek Year One: A “year one” approach could explore how the Enterprise crew originally formed. The hosts support revisiting nostalgia without rehashing the original 1960s series, as long as the focus remains on character building. Fan Art and Copyright: After a Pokémon TCG card was accused of copying fan art, the discussion highlights how fan art technically violates copyright and can't be claimed if used without permission. Nintendo and Disney have strict policies, while Blizzard and Riot Games encourage fan creations. Best of 2025 (so far): The hosts rave about “Deadpool & Wolverine” and “Sinners” as standout films, with special love for “K-Pop Demon Hunters” and “Leo.” Games like “Death Stranding 2” and “Oblivion Remastered” shine, and comics such as “Sandman,” “Thing,” and “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” capture the imagination. Wholesome Recommendations: From the adorable stop-motion Netflix series “My Melody & Kuromi” to the heartwarming “Game Changer” episode awarding $100,000, the show encourages viewers to find comfort in small joys. Quotes “It's hard not to pick Tobey Maguire, but Tom Holland plays the outnumbered kid that's right off the page.” – Frank “I always wanted a smart Hulk—but not a Hulk who refuses to smash.” – Squeaks “Amazon's adaptations are killing it. Between Fallout and what's in store for God of War, I think fans have a lot to look forward to.” – Frank “If we see Hulk, Punisher, and Spider-Man all fighting in the same film, something has to be out of control.” – Squeaks “Fandoms are passionate, but remember that fan art is technically derivative. It falls into a grey area unless the rights holder chooses to pursue it.” – Frank Call to Action Love what you hear? In this sermon, we explore the profound significance of Jesus' favorite self-title, "Son of Man," which He used more than any other in the Gospels. Rooted in Daniel's prophecy, the title reveals Jesus as the ruler of an eternal kingdom, fully God and fully man, sent to save and reign over all creation. This message challenges us to respond to Jesus as both Savior and King, reflecting on the cost of grace and embracing life in His victory. Through this lens, we discover how Christ's reign shapes not only the church today but also our personal lives. The sermon invites us to surrender fully to His lordship and live in the joy and responsibility of reconciliation with God. 5-Day Devotional Based on the Sermon: "He is the Son of Man" Day 1: Recognizing Jesus as the Eternal King Reading: Daniel 7:13-14 Reflection: Jesus, the Son of Man, fulfills Daniel's vision of a King whose dominion will never end. Spend time reflecting on how Jesus rules not just in heaven but also in your everyday life. Where do you need to acknowledge His authority more fully? Prayer: Ask Jesus to reign in every area of your life, leading you to trust His eternal plan even when the future feels uncertain. Day 2: The Cost of Grace – Jesus' Sacrifice Reading: John 3:13; Luke 9:58 Reflection: Jesus left the perfection of heaven to live among us, experiencing all the struggles of humanity. His sacrifice wasn't just a noble gesture; it was the only way to restore our broken relationship with God. Where do you see His grace at work in your life? Prayer: Thank Jesus for the immense love shown through His incarnation and the cross. Ask for a heart that responds to His grace with humility and gratitude. Day 3: Reconciliation – Living in Relationship with God Reading: 2 Corinthians 5:18-20 Reflection: God has reconciled us to Himself through Christ, not holding our sins against us. This reconciliation calls us to be ambassadors, sharing His message of peace. Reflect on relationships in your life—are there people you need to reconcile with? Prayer: Pray for the courage to seek reconciliation with others and be an agent of God's peace in your family, church, and community. Day 4: Embracing Christ as the Son of Man in Daily Life Reading: John 6:53-54 Reflection: Jesus invites us to “feed” on Him, making Him the center and sustenance of our lives. This means relying on His Word and Spirit daily. How can you deepen your relationship with Him this week? Prayer: Ask God to help you make time for prayer and Scripture, nourishing your soul with His presence and guidance. Day 5: Living in Victory through Jesus Reading: Luke 6:22; Romans 8:24 Reflection: Following Jesus may bring challenges, rejection, or hardship, but we know the end of the story—His victory is ours. With this hope, we live not in fear but in faith and joy. How can you live more confidently in His victory today? Prayer: Thank God for the hope and victory found in Christ. Pray for boldness to live out your faith, knowing that you are secure in Him.

We pick a story from fanfiction epic Mega Man: the Series, but rather than the eponymous Blue Bomber, this story focuses on his brother/housecat Break "Proto" Man. The author's commitment to their corpus is very impressive - almost as impressive as their ability to feel affection for Captain N: The Game Master, which Amado and Tory find mega-difficult. When most people think of February and love, they think of Valentine's Day. Valentine's Day is the holiday for couples. But what if you aren't part of a couple? Kim shares her personal story of how painful Valentine's Day was for her after the death of her husband and what she did about it. She reminds people to check in on those who may be grieving during the month of love, especially when they are grieving the loss of their partner, whether through death, divorce or decision. Single, when not by choice, can be an especially challenging status around Valentine's Day. She goes on to remind us of Man Day on February 12, Galentine's Day on February 13 and Singles Awareness Day on February 15. Whatever your relationship status, there are always ways to find love in February or any time of year. You can honor and appreciate the men in your life, get out and party with the women in your life or work on self-love during Singles Awareness Day. Love is in the air...
In this year of Divine Acceleration, there is a call to pray and fast that the Lord may hasten His deliverance. Join us for three days of corporate prayer and fasting to open the month of February. In the third and final day of our three day fast, we are inspired by scriptures in Ephesians 4:23-32 as we pray for renewal in the Spirit of our mind. Without renewal, we are hindered from moving with the ways of God. Join us for this powerful time of prayer as we shed off the old sin nature and put on the new nature of Christ to position ourselves to receive the blessings of God in this restorative season.
On the heels of Herman's perfect empty house Man Day, we discuss relationships past, present and future. Did we truly leave our toxic traits behind us? How do we build stronger lives with stronger wives? And why did it take fatherhood and 40 to finally feel grown? This week's Black in the Middle answers these questions and more... very carefully. Nobody wants to sleep on the couch.
