It wouldn't be Oceania month without Matthew Dunstan, who is closing in on the title for the most guest appearances on the podcast! In this episode, Jules and Joe chat about Matthew's new YouTube channel, co-designing, and how he enjoys giving back to the board game design community. We also hear about some upcoming games, the business of being a full-time board game designer, and which designer he'd like to co-design a game with! Plenty of games have been hitting the table too. Jules is surprisingly taken with planning a Jazz Festival in Bebop, meanwhile, Joe and his friend Megs are newly married and not liking Conor's taste in furnishings in Decorum.

Vannak-e Magyarországon olyan muzsikusok, aki világsztárnak számítanak a jazzben? Ha igen, László Attila gitárművész minden bizonnyal közéjük tartozik, hiszen Bob Mintzertől Gary Willisen vagy épp a közeljövőben a Müpában koncertező Peter Erskine-en át Russell Ferrantéig számos, a műfajban nagyágyúnak számító zenésszel dolgozott együtt hallatlanul izgalmas pályája során. Most Náray Erikával osztotta meg a jazzszcénával kapcsolatos gondolatait – no meg néhány jó sztorit! A műsor háziasszonya: Náray Erika

A műsor háziasszonya: Náray Erika.

Miles Davis is jazz's first and only rock star, with the rap sheet to prove it. He did enough cocaine to run down the entirety of 52nd street, and pimped out women when performing wasn't paying the bills. At one point, his heroin habit was so public that clubs who had once welcomed his brilliant bebop instead froze him out completely. When he wasn't vying to keep his rightful spot in jazz's upper echelon, he was doing time at Rikers Island or dodging racist cops on the prowl for any junkie they could find. Miles Davis invented cool, but nearly destroyed himself in the process. This episode contains themes that may be disturbing to some listeners and includes descriptions of domestic violence. A Bebop új évadának következő epizódjában Náray Erika a három, Magyarországon talán legmeghatározóbb capella formáció alapítóival, tagjaival beszélget: a Jazzation-ből ismert Várallyay Katussal, a Bolyki Brothers-szel sikert sikerre halmozó Bolyki Balázzsal, és Németh Miklóssal a Fool Moonból. In this episode, Kelsie interviews Davida Siwisa James about the overlooked contributions of women during the Harlem Renaissance. James' book, Hamilton Heights and Sugar Hill, published by Fordham University Press, traces 400 years of West Harlem history, including its iconic architecture and luminaries. Highlights include Regina Anderson Andrews, a Schomburg librarian; Mary Lou Williams, a jazz pioneer who shaped Bebop; Lenon Holder Hoyte, a private doll museum curator; and the women who published Langston Hughes and Zora Neale Hurston. „Lányos” hangszer-e a fuvola? Mennyiben más egy női zenekar energiája? Nehezebb-e a dolga egy női zenekarvezetőnek? Ilyen, és ehhez hasonlóan érdekfeszítő és napjainkban is aktuális kérdésekre kereste a választ Náray Erika és két vendége, Mózes Tamara zongorista, énekes, zeneszerző és Pozsár Eszter szaxofon- és fuvolaművész. This Quackcast was inspired by world renowned idiot Robert F Kennedy Jnr. We decided to talk about writing dumb characters. I keep calling him John F Kennedy Jnr because I am also an idiot. Some context: he wants to remove approval for the life saving Polio vaccine and allow dangerous unpasteurised milk to be widely sold, among other things. He's a classic idiot. This put us in mind of fictional idiots. Some classic fictional idiots: Lil' Abner, Jethro from the Beverly Hillbillies, Breckinridge Elkins, Mr Bean, Baldric, Biff Tanner, Dark Helmet, Homer Simpson etc. Idiots as protagonists are often rather innocent while idiots as antagonists are usually comic relief sidekicks (like Bebop and Rocksteady from TMNT), or comic relief villains. We don't usually get a serious villain who is also a fool, except in reality unfortunately. Who is your fave fictional moron or do you have any tips for writing an idiot? This week Gunwallace gave us a theme inspired by The Side Characters - A solid piano groove that bounces and judders along before being joined by a snake charming synth bass that takes us on short exotic side-trip to the middle east and back! Folytatódik a jazzélet megkerülhetetlen alakjait felvonultató beszélgetéssorozatunk! A műsor háziasszonya: Náray Erika.
A Bebop új évadának soron következő epizódjában Lukács Miklós cimbalomművész mesél a példaképeiről, hangszeréről és annak helyéről a jazz szerteágazó műfajában. Szó esik egyebek mellett arról, hogy mi az a „magyar zongora”, mi a helyzet a világban „cimbalom-ügyben”, mit tett Sztravinszkij a hangszer népszerűsítéséért, és komponálnak-e rá a kortárs zeneszerzők. A műsor háziasszonya: Náray Erika.

«Jazz ain't dead, it just smells funny»? Die gespielten Titel: Interpret:in: Titel (Album / Label) Lou Donaldson: Cheek to Cheek (Quartet/Quintet / Blue Note) Art Blakey: Split Kick (Live at the Birdland / Blue Note) Lou Donaldson: Blues Walk (Blues Walk / Blue Note) Lou Donaldson: You've Changed (Lush Life / Blue Note) Lou Donaldson: Alligator Boogaloo (Alligator Boogaloo / Blue Note) Lou Donaldson: Everything I Do Gona Be Funky (Everything I Play Is Funky / Blue Note) Lou Donaldson: Just a Dream (On My Mind) (Caracas / Milestone) Erstausstrahlung: 22.11.2011

Pianist composer Thelonius Monk (born Oct 10, 1917) was possibly the most idiosyncratic performers and composers our music has ever produced. His music is second only to Duke Ellington in the number of times his many compositions have been recorded. Often referred to as the High Priest of Bebop, he was instrumental in the birth of this style, playing alongside Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie, he was the pianist of choice at Minton's Playhouse where the new style was given birth.

Playlist of the Show:[04:35] Wycliffe Gordon - Sweet Louisiana[07:42] Coleman Howkins - Half Step Down Please[11:10] Benny Carter - Love for Sale[16:49] J.J. SHOUT OUT TO STACY M. FOR SUGGESTING THIS EPISODE! THANK YOU!In October 1989, 11-year-old Jacob Wetterling and his brother, Trevor (age 10), and best friend, Aaron (age 11), convinced Jacob's parents to allow them to ride their bikes to a local convenience store in St. Joseph, Minnesota. It got dark early in the evening in Minnesota in October, and the boys had to take flashlights and wear reflective vests before they could go. The boys made it to the convenience store, however, on their way home they were stopped by a man who abducted Jacob.
