Tout a été dit ou presque sur Les Parapluies de Cherbourg de Jacques Demy sorti en 1964. Un film " en chanté ", en chanteur et en chansons, musical, joyeux et triste à la fois. Un film dramatique et romantique, qui a la particularité dʹêtre entièrement chanté. Ici, pas de pause entre deux chansons comme dans les comédies musicales traditionnelles où les numéros dansés et musicaux sʹinscrivent dans une trame narrative. Non, ici tous les dialogues sont chantés, les petites phrases du quotidien, le travail au garage, les difficultés financières, le départ sur le front de lʹAlgérie, tout se raconte sur les airs composés par Michel Legrand. Car ce film, ce nʹest pas que de Jacques Demy. Cʹest une association de bienfaiteurs. Deux hommes qui aiment les mêmes choses, qui sʹamusent, et crée une sorte dʹOVNI cinématographiques avec des décors aux couleurs saturées qui racontent une histoire dʹamour avortée par le départ de Guy pour lʹAlgérie. A lʹécran, on trouve Catherine Deneuve qui joue Geneviève. Un rôle qui la convainc de poursuivre sa carrière au cinéma. On trouve aussi Nino Castelnuovo, Anne Vernon, Mireille Perrey, et Marc Michel. Quant aux voix ce ne sont pas celles des acteurs, actrices. Ceux-ci sont doublés par des voix qui sʹaccordent au mieux au texte et à la musique, laissant une grande liberté de création à Jacques Demy et Michel Legrand. Les parapluies de Cherbourg est récompensé par une Palme d'or au festival de Cannes de 1964, ainsi que par le Prix Louis Deluc et son succès est non démenti depuis. Cʹest un classique du cinéma. Que lʹon adule ou que lʹon déteste. Mais une chose est certaine, cʹest un film qui ne laisse personne indifférent. Dans cet épisode je vous parle de colonisation, de celle du Cameroun dans la continuité de l'épisode précédent consacré à l'histoire du peuple béti de ce pays.Je vous présente tout particulièrement mon concept de "colonial washing" ou "blanchiment colonial". En partant de la notion de "greenwashing" ou "écoblanchiment" qui désigne un procédé mis en place par certaines entreprises pour se donner une bonne image de respect de l'environnement, je postule que les anciennes puissances coloniales font de même aujourd'hui. Aujourd'hui, N'Autre Histoire consacre cet épisode aux soldats indigènes utilisés par la France à l'époque coloniale. Entre 1857 et 1962, des centaines de milliers d'hommes, Africains dans leur grande majorité, ont servi de gré – et surtout de force – dans les armées impériales françaises. Durant la 1e GM par exemple, la France a envoyé au front 600 000 soldats – dont 172 000 Algériens – venus des colonies. Ces soldats ont versé leur sang pour le pays colonisateur : l'armée d'Afrique perd ainsi 45 000 hommes durant le 1er conflit mondial. En contexte colonial, les troupes de tirailleurs originaires des différentes colonies n'ont jamais été considérées ni traitées de la même manière que celles composées de soldats métropolitains. N'étant pas considérés comme des Français à part entière, ils ont été plus touchés par la violence des combats, les pénuries et le non-paiement des soldes.
