In today's episode, I am excited to welcome Dr. Lisa Mitro, a physical therapist and run coach who has built a thriving community on Instagram by sharing her journey and expertise. We dive into her unique approach of documenting her experiences rather than positioning herself as an expert right from the start. Lisa explains how this authenticity helped her connect with her audience and overcome imposter syndrome. We also explore her first successful product launch, a strength and mobility program for runners, and the strategic shift she made from her initial, less successful offer. Lisa shares her sales strategies, including leveraging Instagram stories, testimonials, and engaging with her followers to create curiosity and drive conversions. She provides insights into how she uses data to refine her tactics and optimize her content for better engagement. Lisa also discusses the evolution of her membership program, from open enrollment to a more structured cart open and close model, and the benefits it brought in terms of managing churn and building momentum. Throughout our conversation, she emphasizes the importance of continually testing and adapting to find what works best. From using testimonials effectively to balancing her content creation process with a busy schedule, Lisa offers actionable advice for anyone looking to grow their presence and monetize their passions on social media. Her transparent and experimental mindset is a valuable lesson in resilience and strategic thinking.

This week's guest on the podcast can help you better understand all the varied components of activating our glutes. Lisa Mitro is a Doctor of Physical Therapy who focuses on helping runners prevent and treat repetitive stress injuries. Her practical, action-focused advice has earned her over 110,000 followers on Instagram. While the glute muscles are incredibly important for runners, they can also be a source of frustration and confusion. Whether it's learning the difference between glute strengthening and activation, or discovering how we mistakenly compensate with other parts of the body, Lisa makes glute training easier to understand. Lisa and I address all things related to your glutes, including practical steps to improve your running and injury resilience. We discuss: Glute basics, including the 3 different muscles and how each are used for running The often misunderstood difference between glute strength vs activation Common mistakes runners make with glute activation How to “build the house” when it comes to glute strengthening, from a foundation of stability to the roof of power The best way runners can prioritize glute strength (hint: don't skip the warmup!) Lifestyle changes and awareness to improve your glutes Lisa's advice can benefit runners of any level - you won't want to miss this episode! A big thanks to DrinkLMNT for their support of this episode! They make electrolyte drinks for athletes and low-carb folks with no sugar, artificial ingredients, or colors. They are offering a free gift with your purchase at DrinkLMNT. And this does NOT have to be your first purchase. You'll get a sample pack with every flavor so you can try them all before deciding what you like best. DrinkLMNT's products have some of the highest sodium concentrations that you can find. Anybody who runs a lot knows that sodium, as well as other electrolytes like magnesium and potassium, are essential to our performance and how we feel throughout the day. The watermelon flavor has become my favorite. I'm drinking one a day now to help me get enough fluids in our dry Colorado air. It's tasty and delicious and I find that I'm not peeing every 45 minutes throughout the day, which might be an indication I wasn't eating enough sodium. There's now mounting evidence that higher sodium intake levels are not unhealthy – and athletes need substantially more than your typical sedentary person. Of course, ask your doctor if you're worried. But for those athletes running outside in the heat, an electrolyte replacement makes a lot of sense. So check out DrinkLMNT to try their new flavor or get a free sampler pack. Thank you MOBO Board! Invented by renowned physical therapist Jay Dicharry, MOBO helps you stabilize your stance with an innovative rocker board that's set up on two fins. The design effectively forces you to drive your big toe into the bboard to improve your stability. I was pretty arrogant going into my first session on the MOBO Board. How hard can it be to balance, right? Well, I was humbled pretty quickly! Even if you're a good runner, better balance, stability, and proprioception is going to help you have a more powerful stride and prevent more running injuries. You'll learn how to improve the efficiency of the kinetic chain from your hip to your big toe. Because as Jay likes to say, it's not just how strong you are, but how well you use that strength. I was just at a weekend physical therapy workshop (lol I was the only running coach) and learned how important (and rare) this simple movement is. 2022 ended with a bang on Saturday, as Joao Palhinha's late header gave Fulham a slightly undeserved 2-1 victory against Southampton. We discuss this extraordinary achievement and also look at other FFC players who repped their country in the past fortnight. Afterwards, we preview Saturday's game against Newcastle United, the first game at Craven Cottage since August! We debate what Silva should do in the absence of Joao Palhinha, and discuss Eddie Howe's own selection issues. Finally, we have some interesting questions on Mitro's deep-lying positions and what has happened to Michael Hector. What a joy it was to record this Thursday Club after a fantastic Tuesday night victory, under the lights, against an in-form and (until last night) undefeated Brighton & Hove Albion side. It was a fascinating tactical contest, which burst into life after our Serbian King, Alexander ‘can he do it in the Prem?' Mitrovic slid onto the end of a Neeskens Kebano cross-come-shot to put us 1 up early in the second half. The Whites doubled their lead thanks to an own goal from Brighton's centre back Lewis Dunk, who's tidy finish wrong-footed Robert Sanchez. Just moments later, A VAR penalty decision went against BDR, and Alexis Mac Allister slotted home to give us, and the neutral at home, a scintillating final 30. We call it game management, Brighton fans may call it time wasting - but whatever your persuasion, Fulham defended superbly to earn the 3 points. Currently 6th in the table. 5 in 5 for Mitro. What a time to be alive! Fulham are a joy to watch, at the highest standard of domestic club football. What a pod we have in store for you today. We'll analyse yesterday game, then in part 2 we'll answer your questions and look ahead to transfer deadline day… before wrapping up with a preview of Saturday's game against Spurs. Beating your local rivals Brentford in the first ever Premier League meeting between the two sides… it doesn't get much better than this! Fulham were inspired from the moment we kicked off, with Bobby Decordova-Reid taking only 50 seconds to take the lead. A goal from new cult hero João Palhinha put us 2-0 up, before a nervy period saw Brentford come back to make it 2-2. After Ivan Toney mocked our talisman Alexander Mitrovic's celebration... the rest will go down in Fulham's Premier League folklore. 90th minute. Mitro header. Bad luck Brentford. Thanks for coming. Fulham are now sitting pretty in 7th place, undefeated, with 5 points on the board. Saturday's win turning our solid start into an exceptional start. We discuss how Marco Silva's side have adapted to the Premier League, perhaps learning from our mistakes of yesteryear. We also chat about impressive debuts for Jay Stansfield and Bernd Leno and take a look at our new right back conundrum. In part two we answer your questions, and then in part three we look ahead to a very fun little Carabao Cup draw away to Crawley Town. Hosted by George Cooper with guests Dan Cooke, Dom Betts and Isabelle Barker. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
We begin by analysing Fulham's pre-season victory against Estoril, Marco Silva's former side where he is fondly remembered. We discuss Mitro being in goalscoring form, and the general match fitness of the side with just over a week until the Premier League commences. Afterwards, we discuss transfers, with Manor Solomon across the line and Kevin Mbabu also a done deal (although, it was actually confirmed after this episode was recorded). In part two, Sammy speaks to Philippe Auclair about Fulham's new sponsor, W88. Philippe gives a damning lowdown on the alleged shady practices that many asian-facing bookmakers similar to W88 are involved in. Finally, we take on some of your questions, from club ethics to the do's and don'ts of attending a football match. FOOTNOTES...
