In a gripping Premier League encounter at the City Ground, Nottingham Forest secured a convincing 3-0 victory over West Ham United, propelling them into third place in the league standings. The match was characterised by Chris Wood's continued scoring form, where he opened the scoring with a well-taken header in the 27th minute, capitalizing on a cross from Alex Moreno. The game took a significant turn when West Ham's Edson Alvarez received a red card just before halftime, reducing the visitors to ten men and severely hampering their comeback hopes. The second half saw Forest capitalize on their numerical advantage, with Callum Hudson-Odoi curling in a beautiful shot from outside the box to double the lead. The final nail in the coffin was hammered by Ola Aina, who scored a spectacular long-range effort into the top corner. This win not only highlighted Forest's robust form but also underscored West Ham's struggles to maintain momentum after a previous victory against Manchester United. The atmosphere was electric, with fans celebrating what could be a pivotal moment in Forest's season as they aim for a top-four finish. Learn more about your ad choices. In the Premier League match on September 14, 2024, Nottingham Forest secured a surprising 1-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield, marking their first win at this venue in 55 years. The decisive moment came in the 72nd minute when substitute Callum Hudson-Odoi scored a stunning goal, bending a shot into the far corner from 20 yards out. This match was Liverpool's first defeat under their new manager, Arne Slot, who had previously maintained an unbeaten record with three wins. The game saw Liverpool dominating possession but struggling to convert their chances into goals, with the scoreline not reflecting the run of play. Nottingham Forest, under the management of Nuno Espirito Santo, employed a strategy that effectively stifled Liverpool's attack, focusing on counter-attacks and defending robustly. Despite Liverpool's efforts, including notable attempts by Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah, they couldn't find the net. This result was a significant upset, given Liverpool's strong start to the season and their historical dominance over Forest at Anfield. The match highlighted Forest's tactical discipline and Liverpool's inability to break down a well-organized defence. For the first time since 1969, Nottingham Forest leave Anfield with the W! Match Result: Liverpool suffered a 0-1 defeat against Nottingham Forest at Anfield. This result marked a significant upset as Liverpool had been on an unbeaten streak at home against Forest for many years. The Goal: The winning goal for Nottingham Forest was scored by Callum Hudson-Odoi, who came off the bench. He curled an inch-perfect shot into the bottom corner, which Alisson, Liverpool's goalkeeper, could not reach. Match Dynamics: Despite Liverpool having more possession and creating chances, especially in the first half, they couldn't convert these into goals. Nottingham Forest, on the other hand, showed tactical discipline and took their one clear chance to win the game. Implications: This defeat ended Liverpool's unbeaten start to the season under their new manager, Arne Slot, who had been drawing favourable comparisons to Jurgen Klopp due to an impressive start, including a win over Manchester United. The loss at Anfield was particularly notable given Liverpool's historical dominance over Forest at home. ⭐⭐

Nottingham Forest fan and FPL Blackbox's Mark Sutherns joins James for the Day 2 conclusion of Correspondent Week to discuss all things Forest and their FPL assets, who are catching attention with a great opening set of fixtures. Morgan Gibbs-White is talisman, captain and set to stay. He's assessed versus the cheaper and explosive Callum Hudson-Odoi and also against the plethora of choice in the 6.6 midfield range. Whilst Chris Wood is also attracting attention as a forward who should return well at 6.0, but might there be an alternative at the same price at another club who is better choice with Taiwo Awoniyi also challenging for a place? Plus, all of the defensive assets have been priced at 4.5; Mark details who's best from the backline but there's interest in one more defender and another (yes, really) goalkeeper that means the player that might be of most interest may be yet to join the club. Plus, Nuno Espirito Santo remains despite speculation in the spring that he might not, but it may be another year of battling against relegation and there's also an update on the club's future at The City Ground. On Clash of the Correspondents James is joined by Burnley fan Jack Toner and Nottingham Forest fan Mark Sutherns to discuss the latest at their clubs ahead of Sunday's final day meeting at Turf Moor. For Burnley, relegation was confirmed following defeat at Tottenham and it's felt like an inevitability for some time but the club has kept faith with manager Vincent Kompany and their inexperienced squad should be in a good position to challenge to come straight back... or is there reason for concern? Forest are safe, bar an unlikely 12 goal swing on final day. But it has been a bad season and their safety is only due to the inability of the three teams below. What's gone wrong? And what are the club likely to do next? Could key players depart? And will Nuno Espirito Santo be kept on? Plus, goals are expected when the two clubs meet on Sunday, so should FPL managers look at enablers such as Jacob Braun Larsen or Callum Hudson-Odoi as a source for points in Gameweek 38? Was that the best Premier League performance by Nottingham Forest in the last 2 seasons? Goals from Hudson-Odoi, MGW and Wood light up The City Ground, as Forest took all three points against Fulham last night in the Premier League, which moves us 3 points clear of the relegation zone. Nuno has been asking for his players to start games better, and that's exactly what happened last night as an early goal from Callum Hudson-Odoi settled the nerves in the City Ground, and Forest went onto produced the best football of the season to head into the break with a 3-0 advantage. Fulham got a goal back in a more even second half, but Nuno's men held on for what could be a vital three points.
