HELL marked his feature film debut, earning him a number of awards, including the 2012 German Camera Award for Best Cinematography, the Best Cinematography Award at the 2011 Sitges Film Festival in Spain, and a nomination for Best Cinematography Debut at the world-renowed Camerimage Festival in 2012. Markus has since shot Mike Cahill‘s sci-fi drama, I ORIGINS, which was awarded at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival with the Alfred P. Sloan Feature Film Prize. He then followed with I REMEMBER which premiered at the 2015 Berlin Film Festival and won the 2016 German Camera Award for Best Cinematography. Markus collaborated with director Roland Emmerich on the landmark period drama STONEWALL, which premiered at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival, and the Sci-Fi blockbuster from 20th Century Fox INDEPENDENCE DAY: RESURGENCE. After shooting the pilot for NBC's RISE, he shot the pilot for the sci-fi horror series NIGHTFLYERS, by GAME OF THRONES writer George R.R. Martin and the sci-fi drama BLISS directed by Mike Cahill. He has recently wrapped RED NOTICE for NETFLIX, directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber. Netflix's latest film is also its most expensive one. It also became the highest watched film on the service for day one, so maybe that paid off? RED NOTICE stars three of the biggest draws these days: Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds. But is it worth the price of admission? Oh wait, you mean it's free? After the culture shock of Marvel's Eternals, your favourite podcast hosts return to the safety of male-led TV dramas.
