Chris Diamantopoulos was always an actor. Never held another job. He was working on the stage at an early age—touring companies, Broadway—then transitioned to television, film, and eventually voice overs. Never stopped. Some highlights: Russ Hanneman on “Silicon Valley,” Reinhold on “Community,” Moe in “The Three Stooges,” the official voice of Mickey Mouse, and right now you can see him playing bad guys in Netflix's “Red Notice” and “True Story.” We recorded this interview hours before he started a new job and he takes us through what's on his mind on the night before day one. He talks about how the voice is always the aspect he starts with when building a character, why going back to Broadway in a musical after many years was so challenging, the importance of keeping himself at a place of healthy neutrality, plus lessons learned from Brian Cranston, Kirk Russell, David Fincher, and much more! Netflix's latest film is also its most expensive one. It also became the highest watched film on the service for day one, so maybe that paid off? RED NOTICE stars three of the biggest draws these days: Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds. But is it worth the price of admission? Oh wait, you mean it's free? All I need is my friend's account password? Check out what the Film School Janitors thought in this review, and at the end, they discuss Ryan Reynolds' career as a bonus.
After the culture shock of Marvel's Eternals, your favourite podcast hosts return to the safety of male-led TV dramas. James prescribes himself The Shrink Next Door and Dopesick, and Dan reviews Succession and Dexter: New Blood. Marvel announced more titles for their endless stream of content, and James tests casual fan Dan's knowledge of the lastest obscure characters that the media will pretend to like. Vin Diesel also comes in for some mockery. Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, Gal Gadot. It was inevitable that Netflix's Red Notice would become the biggest streaming movie of all time (according to Netflix's data that only Netlifx has seen). Red Notice is indeed a crowd-pleasing film, if by "crowd" you mean a global collection of disconnected individuals consuming content alone.

This week on End Credits, we're all about the movies. Of course, we're all about the movies every week, but after taking several weeks to talk to some filmmakers, we're going spend our extra time on this episode packing in as much movie talk as possible, and then, for our super-long review this week, we will travel to a fake French town for the equally made up French Dispatch. This Wednesday, November 17, at 3 pm, Adam A. Donaldson and Peter Salmon will discuss: What We've Been Missing. For the last few weeks, we've been covering the Guelph Film Festival, and since we can only review one movie per week, it's really put us behind on the non-stop new releases in theatres and on streaming. Is No Time to Die the right way to end Daniel Craig's Bond tenure? Is The Eternals really Marvel's worst entry so far? And what about Netflix's Red Notice, did it pull a red card? We will talk about about those other movies before... REVIEW: The French Dispatch (2021). In another forced delay because of the pandemic, the latest Wes Anderson movie has finally been revealed. Like past efforts it features well-known Anderson stringers like Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, and Willem Dafoe, and also like past Anderson efforts, it's heavily influenced by French cinema and the music of the 1960s. The French Dispatch is a loving salute to the salad days of The New Yorker and when being a journalist was an exotic and influential job, but is Anderson's latest film all that, or just more of the same? End Credits is on CFRU 93.3 fm and cfru.ca Wednesday at 3 pm.
