Return guest Clay McLeod Chapman (author of The Remaking, Whisper Down the Lane, and Ghost Eaters) joins the Squad to chat about the depressing 2021 horror(?) film What Josiah Saw. We dig into the film's narrative structure, characters, and general bleakness and ask the important question: did this movie abuse us? Then we have a two-part (spoiler-free and spoilers-ok) discussion about Clay's new novel What Kind of Mother. This conversation covers everything from Nicolas Sparks to terrifying pizza. Next we get into some feedback on a blog post (of all things!) and Clay improvises a potential new theme song for the podcast.

Savannah, Georgia is known for its picturesque scenery. You'll feel like you're living in a Nicolas Sparks novel, but when the sun goes down…. That beautiful Spanish moss turns sinister and the ghost and ghouls come out to play. Take a small tour of Savannah Georgia with me, the most haunted city in America. This week on The Pod Charles Cinecast, presented by The Prince Charles Cinema, our hosts Jonathan Foster and Fil Freitas try to remember why they even started this stupid arc... And that arc is the Nepotism aka Children of Men arc, where in our final week we unearth Nick Cassavetes's (son of John Cassavetes) 2004 adaptation of the Nicolas Sparks novel, THE NOTEBOOK. Starring Ryan Gosling, Rachel McAdams, James Garner and Director Nick's mother Gena Rowlands, we deal with the greatest love story about Dementia that could ever be told. It is so great, that it is literally too good to be true. Pure fantasy romance. But don't tell Nicolas Sparks that, he apparently doesn't write romance stories... Sure. How does our final Child of Man Nick Cassavetes hold up to his father's career? Tune in and find out that we barely even discuss that. We are too bothered trying to figure out, "WHAT DO YOU WANT!", while spontaneously laughing in the rain.... If you enjoy the podcast, leave a Rating and Review! It really helps us out! I am sharing The biographies and links: Destiny's Biography: Destiny J. Constantin is 26 years old and resides in Lockport, NY, with her family. She is pursuing her second Master's Degree in Higher Education to fulfill her dream of becoming a teacher. She is currently tutoring undergraduate college students, assisting them with their English Composition coursework, and teaching them how to improve and edit their writing assignments. This week we sit down with Tallmadge High School Science teacher Mrs. Amy Lewis. Aim, as her friends refer to her, is married to Geoff and they have three children. Their two daughters are twins, and are seniors at Hoover High School. Their son is soon to turn 13. Mrs. Lewis and her family love to spend summers on their boat and on the beach. While there you will probably catch her reading her favorite romance novel. Reading time is an opportunity to escape from all that is going on. Being the hopeless romantic she loves to keep Nicolas Sparks employed. During the school year she reads articles and studies pertaining to her area of expertise. She seeks out knowledge to help teach her students. Mrs. Lewis spends all of her free time watching her kids compete in sports. Her daughters are avid swimmers and divers, and her son plays football and other sports. Amy is most looking forward to getting things back to normal this year. She is so excited to having kids back in the classroom full time. Mrs. Lewis has been teaching for 26 years, and every one of those years has been in Tallmadge City Schools. Her life quote is "Do Everything in love," (1 Corinthians 16:14), and as a scientist and environmentalist, “The Greatest threat or our planet is the belief that someone else will save it.” Sit back and enjoy this conversation with Mrs. Lewis. It was recorded before a live, socially distanced, small classroom. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/mark-horner/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/mark-horner/support

A few years ago, Hannah was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. She was tested to the limit physically, emotionally, and spiritually throughout her diagnosis. Even though her faith was tested, it became her lifeline during this time. Hannah also shares with us how she met her husband Chuck (you NEED to hear this story!!! It is something out of a Nicolas Sparks movie!) and how they went on to create the Living Hope Cancer Foundation, where they offer cancer coaching to other struggling with cancer.
