Aaron KleinAt Work Assisted we all come to work every day because we want to solve a problem in the ecommerce industry. Ecommerce companies put all of their effort towards pushing their products and bringing a consistent stream of new customers. This is what gets an online business off the ground and why marketing is so imperative. While online sellers acquire the customers, the most important aspect is to retain the customers and have them coming back. How will sellers do this? Many use call centers but customers require a lot of care and attention. Our mission is clear to bring customer experience to a new level. Doing the job is not enough, we can only exist by being resourceful and caring about the bottom line.Work AssistedTelereiDave SwansonWebsiteBook Free Chapter of my Bestselling Book? I have a guest that is started his own call center in the Philippines. But not only that, he was able to find and start up another company called Work Assisted, which he is currently running. And not only that, he's also started up and found another company that we'll talk about later. But I want to welcome to the show today. Aaron Klein Aaron. Thanks for being on the show. Aaron Klein: [00:00:50] Thanks for having me. Thanks for having me. Dave Swanson: [00:00:52] All right. The audience knows on this show we jump right into the story. Five minutes about perseverance. And let's talk about that story. We'll jump in and talk about your other company as well. Aaron Klein: [00:01:05] All right, amazing. Thanks for having me. This is great. I'm super pumped to talk about the company so everyone knows how super important that is to build the skills efficiently. And the more opportunity you have and the less you know you have to pay for things, the more you can reach. And that's why a lot of people turn to outsourcing now. A lot of people try to use up work free up all these online virtual places. And while, you know, they could be phenomenal. But if you're really trying to scale a business and you want to use them as part of their infrastructure in a way where you can delegate give over things, sometimes it's important to give over to a company that can handle that for you. So would much bigger companies will use lean call centers and even sometimes medium, even small companies will use call centers and outsourcing overseas to the Philippines? So very short. The story was that I was working originally. I was hired by an energy provider. They called up and they sold third party gas. And, you know, use your home, use the utility of the town, you know, gives you your scarce supply. So this company was a third party gas supplier. Now they had an Indian call center. And what happened was this Indian call center was not working with them too well. And they had customer service problems. There were so many issues. And, you know, the owner wanted to hire me to manage the call center in India. But he wanted me to be here at the same time. As we know in the audience, we jump right into the story. And so, Tony, I think you're thinking about writing a book. And so I'm sure this story is going to be part of it. So please go ahead. Tony Teravainen: [00:01:06] Yeah, well, it's it's been a crazy ride. And the book is definitely not my idea. It's people that I talked to that did just their eyes kind of start rolling around their head when they've asked my story. And they're like, I just can't wait to see how this all plays out. And I think it comes from the craziness, comes from the different episodes and just how they're tied together through your theme of perseverance. And it started as a military kid. My dad is also a career air force. So I think we moved eight or nine times. I went to eight different schools. And you always show up, you know, a week into school. And with my last name, I'm always in the back of the room and nobody can say it. And they they always wanted to call me Anthony, and I hated it. And I'm super shy. And I just wanted. Did such shrink and disappear back there? [00:02:02] And a military being a military kid teaches you a lot of stuff. But how to plan your future is definitely not one of them. So I had an opportunity. My second high school, I went to my my football team members helped me. They said, where are you going to school? And I said, I am in school. But it's about something where you're going to take it and keep moving forward and see those opportunities. So I'm excited to hear this story. Jason Vana: [00:01:09] Yeah, so basically the story is this I in 2006, I had my first opportunity to go on a trip to Europe where I was going with a group of people who were looking at partnering into a church planting project over in the Czech Republic. And so it was kind of an exploratory trip. We were just seeing like what this would entail, what it would be like meeting some of the pastors that we would work with. And honestly, for the first trip, I was. It was awesome. I loved it. Like I hated the flying part was petrified of flying. But I was like, man, I'm going to do this because this is a great opportunity. And really, I went into it like this is going to be my one and only trip. Not going to do it again. Like this is just a once in a lifetime opportunity. And when we came back, we decided we were going to be part of this this church planning project. So in 2007, I went back and again I was like, OK, last trip, this probably isn't gonna go beyond. This was part of a leadership conference helping to train pastors to be church planters and helping to find these people who would be church planners to start these new churches. And it was during that trip that I met a youth pastor who was like, hey, you should come and lead a trip to work with my youth. And I was like, sure, why not? Another excuse to go back to Europe. I'll take it. And basically, since then, since 2006, I've gone back to the Czech Republic at lSupport the show (https://www.patreon.com/GWPPodcast)

He's co-founder, co owner. And not only that, a really good friend. I want to welcome to the show, Tom, big lead. Tom, welcome. Thanks, Dave. Thanks for having me. All right. As we know, we go wrestling perseverance, podcast, the audience. We jump right into the story. And I'm pretty sure that they're going to be impressed with this. Tom Beighley: [00:01:08] All right. Well, you know, I thought a lot about this. You know, I've teased each other about, you know, picking one because there's so many in my life to pick from. I don't know if that's just a sign of what's to come or not, but neither here nor there. So the storm and to share with you today is kind of a it's a it's a little emotional at times, somewhat to try to steer clear of that. But so this is about two and a half years ago. I left actually about three years ago, I left the company that we worked together at because we had lost a lot of work. It was contract based. So we fell out of a lot of good faced and clients and moved into a role with a former boss of mine. We started a company doing the same thing, strategic consulting for the government, mainly Department of Defense. And we made a go at it. It wasn't necessarily a failed endeavor, but one that we just decided to dissolve after a period time where lack of work was just lack of work. There's a lot of big firms that have, you know, as you know, have a lot of tenure and have a lot of relationships with those clients. So not having that big company reputation in front of us and having access to those people, it was just something that I was a little bit more difficult to crack than we anticipated. So anyway, during that time, I was going through a pretty rough patch. My marriage won't get too far into those details, but there was just a lot of things going on that weren't generally acceptable. There was it was kind of a torture period for me. We had moved to Florida, as a matter of fact, to to take a contract working with that company. And it wasn't the place I wanted to be. In fact, I was there for two months. My wife left and went back here to San Antonio and started bartending or staying in L.A.. And, you know, kind of just just doing things that I didn't think was consistent with, you know, a spouse. And it really beat me up, really tore me up. It was pretty, you know, like I said, it was torture to me. I ended up moving back and tried to patch things up, gotten to have started a streamlined life a little bit, picked up some sales and supplements and things just weren't getting any better. They spiraled out of control. As a matter of Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/GWPPodcast)

As we know in the audience for wrestling perseverance, we jump right into the story. And so, Mark, I've heard this story a little bit on the Ted X, but love the show. That's what the audience. So mid summer 2002, I'm in the doctor's office once again, post second knee surgery, and the doctor tells me it's over. You're done, buddy. Your career verbatim, your career as a fighter is over. You could could become a very good swimmer. And I'm staring at him dazed and confused. I'm hearing it. And I'm also not hearing it. I'm seeing him. And I'm also seeing my my career, my plans, my, my, my, my, my, my fight skills. Just go out the window. Walked out, limped out. The the front steps of the hospital and gotten a cab to drive over to get another MRI across town. Bangkok traffic, rain coming down monsoon. Bangkok rain coming down. And I I remember it very clearly still because it was a bit surreal. I was looking out the window, the rain coming down like something out of a movie day. And and I'm I'm thinking about what all this means to me currently. And I'm also having another side conversation that's a little bit more elevated than my normal thought process. I'm thinking about all the things I'm losing out on and how I can't go home now because I I I won't go back home and not be that fighter. OK, negations acknowledge. So what will I'd rather stay in Thailand and be a nobody in a strange land and then give up that identity. And and while I'm thinking that about how my life is ruined, I'm also thinking a little bit, a little bit, quote, unquote, higher. This this story, this experience will define the rest of your life. And I noticed that thought show up. And I said to myself, that's strange. That's weird. And what I ended up persevere. Persevering is a horribly entrenched victim mentality, which in my opinion, my personal and professional opinion is the number one thing for someone to unlearn. SUPPORT THIS PODCAST!Army Women’s Tennis Coach, Paul Peck took an unconventional path to arrive at his current profession. As a young man, growing up in Chicago, he excelled at many sports before finally settling on tennis and playing in high school and college. After graduating from the University of Illinois, he entered the work force. Failing to find fulfillment working a 9-5 job, he enlisted in the Army and contracted for Officer Candidate School as a means of paying off his college debt and guaranteeing a Master’s Degree. His first duty assignment was Germany, where he was assigned to an 8 inch Artillery Battery. He trained to fight the Soviets and witnessed the fall of the Berlin Wall. Upon returning to the United States he was again assigned to the last Regular Army 8 inch self-propelled howitzer unit. The day after he was promoted to Captain, Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait and his unit immediately made preparations to deploy. A month after he made Captain, he was placed in command of an artillery battery and was enroute to the Persian Gulf. Before the conventional ground war started, he participated in artillery raids. Once the ground war started, his battery followed the advance and provided support to the rapidly advancing coalition forces. After returning from the war, he applied to teach in the Department of Physical Education at West Point and received his Masters from the University of Illinois. While teaching in DPE, he returned to the sport he loved, and helped out as an Officer Representative and an Assistant Coach on the Women’s Tennis Team. Coach Peck was a perfect fit for the Women’s Tennis Program, and shortly after pinning on Major’s rank, he resigned from the Army and accepted a civilian job as the Women’s Tennis Head Coach. Before pedaling her way into the world of cycling camps and coaching, Janel was a competitive runner, studious kid turned enginerd, singer, and happy when spending time with family, friends or playing outdoors. While finishing up grad school and teaching high school full-time, Janel bought her first road bike in 2006. At first, she participated in Team In Training, but soon Janel’s competitive side surfaced, and she turned her ambitions to road racing. She began working with coach Arnie Baker and entered her first race in January of 2007. Janel, Arnie & road racing proved to be the perfect fit.By the end of her first season on the road, Janel was invited to guest ride at a stage race for the California-based professional team Webcor Builders. An entry-level bike didn’t slow her down too much as she was able to help secure the overall win for her teammate and find her way to the podium in the time trial. Janel signed to race full-time with Webcor and her career as a pro bike racer began. In 2008, she began racing in Europe with Webcor and she continued to head to Europe each year with either her trade team or the U.S. national team. Janel is at her best when the road turns up, but she is certainly no slouch in the time trials. That combination made her one of the favorites in difficult U.S. stage races such as the Tour of the Gila and the Cascade Cycling Classic.Janel rode a breakout season in 2011 racing for Colavita – Forno d’Asolo. She won the Joe Martin Stage Race, her first National Racing Calendar (NRC) stage race victory. Janel also won the overall at the Tour de Toona and Oregon’s challenging Cascade Cycling Classic. Thanks to her consistency, Janel finished the season by winning the NRC individual title.Janel’s 2013 season was highlighted by a solo stage win at the Tour of Gila, finishing 2nd the following day in the time trial, and third overall. She was also a key member of the US team that brought home overall victory from the Giro Donne in Italy. For Janel, though, all the podium results were overshadowed by participating in the Team Time Trial at the World Championships in Florence 2013 and Ponferrada 2014 with her Optum teammates. Other career highlights include being named to the 2012 U.S. Olympic Long Team.Since retiring from pro road racing in 2015, Janel has directed her efforts toward individual coaching, running cycling camps and clinics, and staying active in the cycling community as a brand ambassador. In 2017 as a retiree, Janel focused on gravel events and won Crusher in the Tushar and placed 3rd at Dirty Kanza 200. She continues to ride her road, gravel or mountain bike almost daily in and around the Santa Monica Mountains from her home in Newbury Park, CA.In addition to her cycling successes, Janel has a degree in chemical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a master’s degree in education from the University of San Diego. Before turning bike racer, she taught high school math, physics and chemistry in San Diego.CampDave SwansonWebsiteBook Goat Wrestling Perseverance Clothes Free Chapter of my Bestselling Book? A student once told me, “You believe in us, so we can believe in ourselves.”It was a surprising and kind statement, and after some reflection, I came to see it as true. I do believe in people.I believe that everyone has the potential to offer something great to the world. But so often, people fail to spot that potential within themselves. Not only is this frustrating for individuals but it’s also a wasted opportunity for the organizations they work in.What I have discovered over the course of my life is that every person is unique. Yet their unique talents are often inhibited by the social and organizational structures that dominate our lives. My aim is to help people break down the barriers that are holding them back.I want to empower them to become leaders in both their personal and professional lives.I want them to achieve more than they ever thought possible. For over 30 years, I’ve worked with senior executives, entrepreneurs and organizational clients to solve the real problems that confront leaders. Through my Circle of Impact model, I’m helping more and more people discover new ways to solve problems, collaborate and plan for a successful and fulfilling future. My ultimate goal is to move one percent of the world’s population to take leadership initiative. When we fulfill that goal, the world will be a better place for these people, their families, friends, co-workers, businesses and communities.Circle of Impact - BookEd BrenegarDave SwansonWebsiteBook Goat Wrestling Perseverance Clothes Free Chapter of my Bestselling Book? She has reported from a range of locations throughout the world from Haiti and Yemen to the Mideast and through south Asia. Raddatz has traveled to Pakistan and Afghanistan dozens of times, and to Iraq 21 times to cover the conflicts there. She was on the last convoy out of Iraq and is the only television reporter allowed to cover a combat mission over Afghanistan in an F15 fighter jet, spending nearly 10 hours in the air on two separate missions. In the early hours of June 8, 2006, she was the first correspondent to report that Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the leader of al Qaeda in Iraq, had been killed in a U.S. air strike north of Baghdad. In 2011 she reported exclusive details on the raid that killed Osama Bin Laden. In October 2012, Raddatz moderated the only Vice Presidential debate between Congressman Paul Ryan and Vice President Joe Biden, which covered both domestic and foreign topics. Post-debate Raddatz received an outpouring of praise for asking pointed questions on a range of issues while asserting control over the conversation. Raddatz joined ABC News in January, 1999 as the network's State Department correspondent. There she covered the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, as well as traveled to Africa, Pakistan and India with then U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell. Her coverage at the State Department after the attacks of September 11 was recognized, along with that of other ABC News recipients, with a Peabody Award as well as an Emmy Award. In May of 2004, Raddatz was named Senior National Security correspondent. During her time at the Pentagon, she reported exclusively on a number of stories, including the near capture of al-Zarqawi in April 2005, plus the discovery of his laptop computer. Athlete. Entrepreneur. Author. Podcaster. Speaker.Playing overseas was one of the best experiences of my life. Through all of the ups and downs, I learned so much about who I was as a man and how to survive in a foreign country on my own. I gave so much to the game of basketball and it is still a huge part of who I am today. This is why I aim to give back to so many other athletes.Writing a book was never in the plan. Hell, I never even considered myself to be good at writing much of anything until my second year playing overseas. In my first couple of weeks there, all I had was a room, a computer (without internet connection), and a lot of time. Entrepreneurship to me is all about taking a huge risk on your future for a vision only you can see. This is what I’ve done my entire life. I’ve sacrificed and believed in my vision despite other people who doubted me. It is also about patience, determination, and grit, things that I have prided myself on for as long as I can remember.Just like writing, public speaking was never something I saw myself doing. I learned how much I am able to impact others through words and that’s what it has been all about ever since. Through my experiences, and every time I have an opportunity to speak publicly, my aim is to change at least one person’s life for the better.WebsitePodcastConnectDave SwansonWebsiteBook Goat Wrestling Perseverance Clothes Free Chapter of my Bestselling Book? WHAT I DO: I help active-duty military and recent retired veterans plan for healthy transitions to civilian life. Furthermore I also help individuals understand how to manage their financial opportunities as they relate specifically to veterans and military benefits. My deeper purpose, however, is to be a guide for fellow veterans in discovering their own purpose. Together, we clarify and embark on a new mission that leads to financial stability and personal life fulfillment. I do this because I believe that our military service may be complete, but our true service to the world is still ahead of us. HOW I DO IT: I provide one-on-one consulting and coaching, online webinars/training programs, on-site workshops, speaking engagements and create content aimed at helping you discover your true purpose, how to achieve your financial goals, and the steps to achieving all of it.WHY I DO IT: After a number of successes and mistakes, trials and errors, I discovered not only the ins and outs of financial opportunities afforded to veterans, but more importantly my mission to help others discover the same—without all the turbulence I experienced in the process. I want to help as many veterans as possible to get here as well. This is my new life’s mission. MY BACKGROUND: A former military officer, author and award winning entrepreneur, I combine realistic perspective, financial expertise, and life experience to help others prepare financially for the transition back to civilian life.ConnectFree E-bookDave SwansonWebsiteBook Goat Wrestling Perseverance Clothes Free Chapter of my Bestselling Book? Sara began her journey working full-time while she earned an MBA. As she climbed the ladder of corporate America, she repeatedly observed a surprising phenomenon: the most successful people weren’t necessarily the ones with the highest IQ or best job skills. She recognized instead that career advancement was much more closely linked with how people applied their knowledge and talents — their capacity to collaborate, communicate, and influence others.Organizations have historically made heavy investments to help top performers and senior leaders gain tangible skills through degrees, professional certifications and technical training courses. However, companies that are giving equal emphasis to boosting intangible skills have discovered a measurable bottom-line impact and a distinct competitive advantage in today’s fast-paced, global economy. What are these high-value intangible skills? •Influential leadership and compelling communications that inspire and motivate colleagues and co-workers •Powerful personal presence that others perceive as charismatic and persuasive yet approachable and supportive •Strong emotional intelligence that builds solid connections with people at all levels of the organization •Collaborative behaviors and strategies that maximize team performance and results When high-potentials successfully integrate these intangible leadership skills, their corporate employers reap the benefits: increased productivity, stronger market performance, and improved employee retention. Sara Canaday has an impressive track record for helping companies harness those distinct advantages.KeynotesWorkshop ResourcesLeadership UnchainedYou According to ThemLinkedIn Learning OnlineDave SwansonWebsiteBook Goat Wrestling Perseverance Clothes Free Chapter of my Bestselling Book? Daniel Hayes earned his nickname “The Honey Badger” (an animal known for its fearlessness) in the ring during a pro sparring session. His talent expands beyond the sports realm from Motivational Speaking to Entrepreneurship to being an On-Camera Talent. Hayes started competing in sports from the young age of 8. Hayes however decided to attend TRU where he and his childhood best friend were offered athletic scholarships. His new passion led him to study the art of acting at The Second City and Groundlings, schools that boast alumni like Jim Carrey, Will Ferrell, Seth Rogan and Steve Carell. Matt Cubbler is a servant leader who has spent his entire life serving and helping others. Matt’s passion and purpose was born out of his relationship with his older brother, Andy, who was autistic and stuttered. Tragically, Andy died in a car accident in 1989. Since his death, Matt served 4 years active duty in the US Army in the intelligence field including a deployment to the Middle East during the Persian Gulf War. For the last 26 years, Matt has served in various law enforcement capacities - patrol, SWAT and as a member of the elite counter-terrorism agency known as US Federal Air Marshal Service. Matt is also an entrepreneur, inventor, author, youth mentor, inspirational speaker and the host of the Two Dates and a Dash Podcast. Matt is married to his beautiful wife, Lauren and they have two children - Rebecca and Andrew. My goat is one that will be with me forever - the loss of my brother. After 13 years of severe depression, in 2002 God showed me His grace and allowed me to begin to heal. Since then, I have been tirelessly working on multiple platforms in order to share Andy’s story and inspire others to live a life of selfless service worthy of remembrance.
