Niece Motorsports general manager Cody Efaw joins Davey Segal (6:50) to dive into his extensive career that has led him to helping run one of the premier NASCAR Camping World Truck Series organizations. He recalls his early exposure to racing on dirt with his family, why he fell out of love with racing and his eventual decision to drop out of college and move to North Carolina to pursue a career in motorsports. Shortly after settling in NC, he landed at Roush Racing in the midst of its heyday, where no job was off the table. From a tire changer to a car chief and everything in between, he gained valuable experience and mentorship from Matt Puccia. But the grind became too much and he opted to step away from the sport for a second time. In came Al Niece, and Efaw was drawn back in on the competition side. He details how Niece convinced him to help run the organization in its infancy, meeting Ross Chastain and knowing he had that "it" factor, the whirlwind 2019 season, why there'd "be no company" without Chastain in the fold and racing with next to nothing in the team bank account. Efaw also discusses why finally checking off the box of winning a race as a crew chief and why it wasn't what he envisioned, gushes about Carson Hocevar, his resiliency in returning to the seat from injury and why he's actually staying at Efaw's house. Plus, could Niece Motorsports expand to the Xfinity or Cup Series? And are they working on getting a Cup Series owner in a Truck later this season? Davey recaps Daniel Suarez's historic first-career victory at Sonoma, his career redemption arc, Trackhouse Racing's continued impressiveness and more. Papa Segal also pays homage to Jimmy "Smut" Means.

Majeski joins the show to share how he's also in the ThorSport shop every day working as an engineer; the decision to put racing on the backburn for a year to do that; what he's learned working in the shop; how much it helps build a better bond with the team; what changed at Niece Motorsports that led Majeski to ThorSport; the importance of not burning bridges; pushing through a start and stop career; going through the “total catastrophe” of the 60 car program at Roush; lessons learned from that deal; how Majeski got into racing ad the racing ladder he climbed; how much his parents were able to help along the way; does he feel at a disadvantage in the Truck Series with limited starts; the hardest thing about the Truck Series; why he feels his team is flying under the radar; the biggest goal in his first season in NASCAR.Music created by Tony Monge. Please support my work through Patreon: www.patreon.com/KellyCrandall
Camping World Truck Series rookie Dean Thompson joins Davey Segal (7:15) to discuss how his first season in NASCAR's National Series is going, how the opportunity with Niece Motorsports came about in the first place and why Carson Hocevar was a major help throughout the process. Thompson dives into his start in racing as a kid before choosing to play hockey over motorsports. He explains why he made that choice and his years as a goalie before eventually coming back to motorsports thanks to Cole Custer inviting him to Auto Club Speedway for a race weekend. After tearing up the local racing scene in California winning multiple track championships at Irwindale Speedway, Thompson went ARCA racing. The next logical step? The Camping World Truck Series. Thompson also gets real about the importance of enjoying racing and not making it purely a job, how he handles those thinking he got to where he is purely based off family money, how he felt racing in his first ever Truck race and more, including forgetting his hard card, his passion for fishing (but getting out-fished by his girlfriend), losing his sunglasses on the water and his goals for the remainder of the 2022 season. Davey discusses Kurt Busch's Kansas Speedway triumph and the career arc of the future Hall of Famer, explains why the All-Star Race isn't doing it for him anymore and Papa Segal pays homage to some guy who made the No. 48 iconic.
Niece Motorsports' Kris Wright joins Davey Segal (6:05) to discuss his start in motorsports, why he was encouraged to take up golf as a profession instead of racing and how his career behind the wheel wound up progressing. From sports cars to open wheel and now NASCAR, Wright details the steps and decisions along the way, including why he wanted to go down the open wheel path, coming oh-so-close to winning the Rolex 24 at Daytona, racing overseas in Europe and how his lack of success impacted him personally and professionally and how it wound up leading him to stock cars and NASCAR only three years ago. Competing in stock cars for the first time in 2020, Wright explains how and why that opportunity came about, going "from Silverstone to Hickory" and the dichotomy that comes with that change, his relationship with fellow Pittsburgh native Chip Ganassi and Hall of Famer Ron Hornaday Jr., how he wound up at Niece Motorsports for this season, what his short and long term goals are and more. Davey also discusses Alex Bowman's Las Vegas victory, why Kyle Busch's comments were misguided and Papa Segal pays homage to "The Rocketman."
RJ Starcevic and Tommy Joe Martins discuss whether the finish to the Snowball Derby was as controversial as people thought, as well as some of the recent Camping World Truck Series silly season news including Niece Motorsports brand new driver lineup.

The first race of the 2021 NASCAR Playoffs is complete after an action-packed weekend of racing at Darlington Raceway. T.J. Majors, Freddie Kraft and Brett Griffin are in studio to react to all that played out in the tripleheader at “The Lady in Black.” It was a big weekend for Door Bumper Clear's presenting sponsor Offerpad as Denny Hamlin wheeled his No. 11 Offerpad Toyota to Victory Lane. The gang discusses Hamlin's first win of the season and where his Southern 500 triumph stacks him up in NASCAR Hall of Fame pecking order. Kyle Busch had an eventful Sunday night as he wrecked early, drove too fast into the garage and gave a fiery interview after retiring from the event. The crew analyzes the fine he received and his comments about his car and team, and their preparation for each race. A last corner Hail Mary nearly worked out in second-place finisher Kyle Larson's favor in the Southern 500. How did the guys react to that move and Larson coming up short? They share their thoughts and who was probably angry after seeing it happen. Derek Kraus isn't making too many friends on the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series circuit this season. An incident with Lawless Alan led to some harsh comments from Alan and Niece Motorsports' Twitter account. Kraus' spotter Freddie is open and honest, explaining his feelings about Kraus' unnecessary aggressiveness this year. NASCAR is reportedly moving the season-opening exhibition race, the Clash, to the Los Angeles Coliseum. Where did this idea come from and is it something the spotters support? They analyze the move and what it means for the teams heading into next season. Kyle Busch voiced his displeasure about the direction the Next Gen car is taking the sport in 2022. Hear what the gang has to say about the overall direction NASCAR is moving towards with the new car and the unknown's teams are discovering as they begin testing multiple cars together. In Reaction Theatre, Casey gets a call after her daughter's first birthday party, T.J. gets his colonoscopy results and a drunk fan calls in from the grandstands at Darlington. Then heading into Richmond Raceway, T.J. talks about getting back together with Dale Earnhardt Jr. in Saturday's Xfinity Series race as Dale Jr. climbs back behind the wheel.

At only 18-years-old, Carson Hocevar has already torn up the short track scene and is making a name for himself in NASCAR. He joins Davey this week (12:50) to discuss his career behind the wheel, starting in Michigan at Berlin Raceway, and why NASCAR had to make a rule change to combat him winning as a 13-year-old. NASCAR champion Johnny Benson has mentored Hocevar over the years, and Carson explains how Johnny’s help has been instrumental to his growth in stock cars. Hocevar details his journey to where he is now: full-time with Niece Motorsports, why he lost some confidence in his time running ARCA, how he regained it and why he’s just now hitting his stride with Niece in the Truck Series. Injuries haven’t stopped Hocevar in his young career, either, as he recalls breaking his wrist in a wreck but finishing the race one handed. Plus, how he powered through the end of a Truck race with heat exhaustion. Despite not being known for dirt racing, the late Bryan Clauson had a profound impact on him. He explains why that is, how the information afforded to him in NASCAR is good to have, yet overwhelming at times and which races are left on his bucket list to win across the country. Davey also recaps Hendrick Motorsports’ dominance at Dover and Alex Bowman’s second victory of the season, previews NASCAR’s inaugural weekend at COTA in Texas and more.
