The two drafting tracks to start the year are behind us, and GOOD RIDDANCE! It's time for a bounce back and a road course is just what the doctor ordered. This ep breaks down what we saw at Atlanta with the drama of the late caution, and Hocevar's full send non stop strategy. Then we prep for COTA. There are some new names in the field with some very short odds, so we discuss how that impacts our plays. Outrights, Finishing Positions, Head to Heads...all the hits, trying to get back in the win column!

Hard to believe it's already been three months (and then some) since I first sat down with Jake, but he's back, and we're picking up where we left off. Since the first conversation we had together, Jake has migrated to a new role with Herrington Arms working in sales, marketing, and even helping in customer service. Beyond that, in his role in law enforcement, Jake is currently going through the state approved instructor course for Ohio, to allow him to teach and qualify other officers. Throughout this whole discussion, we talk about some of the in's and out's, the challenges and rewards if you will, of the growth and development that he's experiencing. As always, we offer plenty of opinion, and insight into different ways of doing things, especially when it comes to training and performance. We also spend just a little time hearing about the trip out to Las Vegas for SHOT Show 2025, and the work Jake and Redline Consulting are putting in to their Night Vision events this winter.Visit our sponsors!Patreon - www.patreon.com/prepared_mindset_podCustom Night Vision - www.customnightvision.comAmerican Defense Manufacturing - www.admmfg.comOrion Training Group - www.oriontraininggroup.comOne Hundred Concepts - www.onehundredconcepts.com
Checo Perez has been released by Red Bull and replaced by Liam Lawson. Isack Hadjar is likely to become the second driver at Toro Rosso after finishing 5th or 6th last year in the RB driver development program. Valtteri Bottas is returning to Mercedes as their reserve driver. In other F1 news, 23XI and FRM have won a preliminary injunction to keep their charters and access SHR charters for sale. In NASCAR, Conor Daly is announced as the driver of the 77 for Juncos-Hollinger, while Faux has released the TV schedule for IndyCar and Indy NXT. Sophia Floresch has secured an Indy NXT ride with HMD, and Ford M-Sport has announced drivers for the 2025 WRC. Jack Beckman will be a full season driver for Peak funny car. In NFL Week 15, the focus is on real teams and fantasy. The NASCAR Cup Series Season Review addresses how Joey Logano finished 16th in points but won his 3rd title, Hendrick and Gibbs' usual dominance, Ford's struggles, and SHR's closure. Hocevar wins ROTY despite hitting everything but the lottery. Other noteworthy topics include the Gen 7 car and TV changes in 2025. The episode concludes with Josh's Sim Segment.
Carson Hocevar is the new NASCAR Cup Series rookie of the year, and the offseason hasn't yet slowed things down for him because of the award. Hocevar joins the show to discuss what he's been up to since Phoenix; what he gets out of being at the shop regularly; what winning Rookie of the Year means to him; the difference in his expectations versus those around him; the growth process throughout the year; the races that stand out or Hocevar is most proud of; quickly taking to the Next Gen car; the idea of sim work and how much he does; what the stats don't show about the season; things that need to be improved for next year; what did or didn't surprise him about full-time Cup Series racing; reflecting on a fast five years in NASCAR.Original music created by Tony Monge. Jake Hocevar is a former 12B in the Army National Guard, works as a part-time LEO, and also is one of the cadre at Defender Series Training Group while running his own endeavor, Redline Consulting. More specifically, Jake is a firearms trainer, who has a passion for learning, as well as teaching. While continuing to teach, he keeps a ever-present mindset of "staying a student" and striving to learn new and better ways to help train those who seek him out. We sit down for this weeks episode, and dive into everything from flaws in the law enforcement training realm, as well as their unfortunate impacts, to fundamental shooting in issued gear and the realistic expectations of performance. I was also shocked to learn Jake is a fellow Michigander, which is extremely important, since he now resides in Ohio. I had a ton of fun talking with Jake, and we're already working on getting a second discussion on the books. Phil and Josh return for E198 of the GSP to review the NASCAR XFinity and Craftsman Truck Series 2023 campaigns. What does Cole Custer's championship performance at Phoenix say about his viability and future in Cup after the demotion? John Hunter Nemechek was dominant like in Trucks but could not close the deal in the playoffs while Austin Hill showed that he was a whiny, spoiled choker who isn't a good teammate. JRM saw Justin Allgaier fall short yet again for an elusive title while Sam Mayer had a breakout campaign. The guys look at Kaulig Racing falling off and early favorites for 2024. On the Truck Series side, Ben Rhodes by virtually any measure wasn't a championship driver. However, he was in the right place at the right time to close the deal and become a two-time series champion. Grant Enfinger was in position to give GMS a walk-off title but Corey Heim and Carson Hocevar decided to destroy each other. Will Heim's reaction to Hocevar's driving sully the quality of driving he showed through the majority of the season? Hocevar broke out in 2023 but his judgement and driving standards were questionable at best. Will he get the same treatment like mentor Ross Chastain or will being a full-time Cup Series driver make him change? Finally, with the death of Kyle Busch Motorsports and GMS Racing, how healthy is the Truck Series? Phil and Josh talk about Week 13 of the NFL season for their actual teams along with fantasy getting closer to the playoffs before a short GSP Roundup covering the Snowball Derby, Extreme E's season finale in Chile, and NHRA news. Josh's Sim Segment lets us know about all things iRacing and gaming before Show Close.

Today I have a powerhouse of an episode for you. I am interviewing Luka Hocevar. Luka is an expert in peak performance—he's got a lot of clients that are in the NFL, the NBA, things like that. On the other side of the coin, he also owns a gym in Seattle—where the majority of his clients are middle-aged moms that want to get really strong and feel better. Earlier this month in Pinellas County Florida, Bradley Hocevar was home with his wife after 9PM when a suspicious person came onto the property. Hocevar discharged over 30 rounds from a rifle at the intruder in less than 90 seconds at the man-- who turned out to be the pool cleaner--and ultimately faces no charges. Retired police officer Drew and current dispatcher Jon give you a peek behind the curtain as they break down the surveillance camera footage of the suspect, the 911 call from the wife, and the response from the Sheriff of Pinellas County. Drew and Jon provide great analysis and they will take your calls and play your voicemails. If you're tired of taking calls and hearing everyone's complaints, this is the show for you. Whether you're a dispatcher, a cop, or a firefighter/paramedic, this is your chance to sound off and be part of the problem for once. Today I'm talking to my (new) friend Luka Hocevar. He's got one of the more fascinating stories I've ever heard in the fitness industry. He grew up and played pro basketball in his native Slovenia, then he eventually transitioned to a career in fitness. After permanently relocating to the United States, he gradually — and all good things take time — became one of the fitness world's most in-demand coaches for pro athletes and general population folks alike. Now, he runs a fitness empire from the Seattle area and mentors dozens (if not hundreds) of coaches making their way in this industry. He has some of the hottest takes in fitness, and I'm curious what our listener feedback is like after this episode with one of the industry's true straight shooters.
