The 1994 Indycar season was one of the most significant seasons in US open-wheel racing's recent history, and much of that is down to the arrival of Reynard. The British company's success in single-seater racing was translated dramatically into Indycar, as Michael Andretti won its first race at Surfers Paradise, sending shockwaves through the motorsport landscape. The result not only broke the previous duopoly enjoyed by Lola and Penske - the latter subsequently becoming a Reynard customer - but also established Chip Ganassi Racing as a winning force for the first time, while Jacques Villeneuve also emerged as a star of the future later in the season with a Reynard, taking his first win for the Forsythe/Green team. Thirty years on, that breakout story is retold by company founder Adrian Reynard in a special edition of the Autosport Podcast to coincide with the latest issue of Autosport magazine's Engineering supplement. Joined by Autosport Plus editor James Newbold and Autosport magazine deputy editor Marcus Simmons, Reynard discusses how his driving ambitions were crucial in his journey to becoming a successful constructor, the mantras that made Reynard Cars a hit, and how a disastrous attempt to enter Formula 1 proved the catalyst for his entry to Indycar. Could the sale of his NASCAR team benefit or hinder Haas' F1 operation?Climb the ladder with me on Patreon: https://patreon.com/lawvsIn this video, we dive deep into the recent and surprising closure of the NASCAR team owned by Gene Haas and Tony Stewart, exploring its significant impact on the Haas F1 team. After 20 years of competition, the NASCAR team is shutting down, leaving four highly valuable charters up for grabs. This development allows Gene Haas to redirect his focus and potentially funnel more financial resources into the F1 team, a move that comes at a critical time with upcoming changes in the Formula 1 landscape, including an increase in the cost cap to $220 million. We discuss how this extra funding can help Haas F1 stay competitive and explore the transition from the controversial Guenther Steiner era to a more stable, engineering-first leadership under Ayao Komatsu. This shift aims to improve the team's performance and financial stability, making Haas F1 more attractive to drivers and investors. Additionally, we delve into the persistent buyout rumors involving Michael Andretti and why Gene Haas is unlikely to sell, valuing the team's growth and strong partnership with Ferrari. Moreover, we highlight how this partnership with Ferrari benefits Haas F1, including nurturing new talent like Oliver Bearman and the potential addition of Zhou Guanyu, who brings financial backing and experience with Ferrari power units. We'll also discuss the broader implications for the F1 grid, the strategic moves by Haas F1, and what the future holds for the team as they aim to rise in the standings. Just when you thought things were over for Andretti and F1...it wasn't. In a shocking twist, the United States Senate is pushing the DOJ and FTC to investigate Formula 1 and Liberty Media for potential antitrust violations, focusing on the Andretti family's controversial blocked entry into the sport. Mario Andretti's explosive claims that Liberty Media's CEO made personal comments to prevent Michael Andretti from joining F1 could have massive repercussions if proven true. This high-stakes drama is fueled by Michael's past struggles and sabotage allegations in F1, adding more intrigue. Despite the resistance, the Andretti team has been making bold strategic moves, partnering with General Motors and hiring key personnel to ensure their readiness for F1. If Liberty Media is found guilty of antitrust violations, they could face severe legal and financial consequences, including potential governmental oversight and substantial penalties, shaking the sport to its core. A flash in the pan or is it the return of the Newgarden that won a $1m Triple Crown bonus in 2022? We also talk about the series' internal politics as Michael Andretti had no problem calling out Roger Penske's leadership of IndyCar and pushing for him to open his wallets to promote the series further. Is he right, or should he be defending for navigating the series through the pandemic? Or is it somewhere in between? And finally, guest Chris DeHarde of Frontstretch joins us and asks, what was your memories of the pandemic as it hits its 4th anniversary. A surprisingly deep episode of Motorsport101!

One of America's most successful open-wheel racers on a global stage, Alexander Rossi has carved out a career as one of IndyCar's most compelling drivers. Giving up his F1 role for good the next year, Rossi spent seven seasons with Andretti, took eight wins, and finished second in points in 2018 before switching to Arrow McLaren for the 2023 season.
