Quite a lot to NOT be proud of this Pride Month, with corporations creeping away cowardly as ultra-Conservatives boycott their rainbow campaigns. Meanwhile, much of the mainstream media refuses to report on rising threats to LGBT+ equality. Luckily, there's also lots to laugh about! From hilariously hopeless Pride ads to everything that comes out of Olga Koch's mouth - and lots to gossip about too, with celebrity “queerbaiting” up on the agenda. We pick our way through Pride's best and worst reporting, including vital LGBTQIA+ investigations that went under the radar - with QueerAF editor Jamie Wareham, and comedian Olga Koch. This week's lived experience comes from teachers and trans youth, who share firsthand insights on headlines about “gender ideology”, as both the Conservatives and Labour pledge to rigidly censor gender-related education ahead of the general election. Plus, your round-up of the headlines through a Media Storm lens, including debunking myths of a Labour "supermajority", Just Stop Oil's stonehenge protest, and Rwanda refugee watch. And finally… GETTING READY FOR GLASTONBURY?! Find out how Traveller culture has shaped modern-day music festivals, and how you can celebrate them as you celebrate Glastonbury. "Live a life worth commenting on." Olga Koch has certainly been doing what she can to live up to this philosophy - not just as a comedian, but in all aspects of her life. Although it's very common to see May to December romances in Tinsel Town, today's showbiz couple raised eyebrows in the gossip pages, when an older woman dared to court a man below her age bracket - but the world was a different place when Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher were stepping out, and now women have no prejudice against them for age, or looks and equal pay, so PHEW! The guest we have to thank for this EPIC tale of toxicity is the fantastic comedian, Olga Koch. As you can imagine, Grainne's deep dive unearths some jaw-dropping details and Chantel was cock-a-hoop at being able to get her teeth into it all. But which party can be declared winner in this celebrity bun fight? Have a listen to find out... Imagine making a film set in a town where dancing is illegal. Imagine that bit being the true story element of said film. Imagine that not one of the team had ever seen 1984's Footloose in full before this very week. SCENES, such very eighties scenes, in this week's Rated or Dated, chosen by Offord, montaged by Bacon. Before that, Mick's been on the Zoom with comedian Olga Koch to chat about her latest show, Prawn Cocktail, the masters she did in lockdown, which looks at parasocial relationships and how the two might come together. Hannah's been to see Othello at The Globe's Sam Wanamaker theatre, a new production directed by Ola Ince, and she loved it. Hannah chats to Ola about placing Othello in a police force, putting words in Shakespeare's character's mouths, and why she's put a second black man onstage in a play which quite on purpose only ever has one. In Jenny Off the Blocks, Jen's talking about allyship in football (we can all wave our scarves in celebration at CANDI Utd's recent actions), while over in the Bush Telegraph, we're getting up to date on who's in charge of France and what a nutritious breakfast looks like, as well as looking at some bad maths for women.

Latitude Festival boasts the biggest comedy lineup in the UK, so Ellen and Mark take a visit to discuss the best and worst of stand-up comedy on screen. Ellen and Mark and joined by three of the UK's biggest and brightest comedy stars from Latitude's 2023 comedy line-up - Ania Magliano, Olga Koch and Romesh Ranganathan. Ania Magliano is an up and coming talent in the British comedy scene who, aside from selling out shows at Edinburgh Fringe and Soho Theatre, writes for the viral YouTube hit Chicken Shop Date with Amelia Dimoldenberg, Frankie Boyle's New World Order and Newsjack on Radio 4. She shares with Ellen and Mark the fictional comic who makes her feel most seen. Olga Koch is another rising star in the UK comedy scene who has appeared on Mock the Week, Pls Like, Pointless Celebrities and QI. She's written and starred in several award winning Radio 4 shows, including last year's Olga Koch: Fight and Olga Koch: OK Computer. She tells Ellen and Mark which stand-up comedy scenes make her cringe the most. Romesh Ranganathan is a familiar face on British television, as host of shows like The Ranganation and The Weakest Link, and as a regular panellist on A League of Their Own. He hosts For The Love of Hip Hop on Radio 2 and co-hosts the hit podcast The Wolf And Owl with fellow comedian Tom Davis. Romesh explains to Ellen and Mark why stand-up on screen can go out of fashion fast. Finally, comedian Greg Proops joins us for a viewing note, revealing his favourite stand-up scene.
