Polka time, baby! Lauren is joined by Russ and the newly-appointed "Polka Bob" to dive into the accordion-fueled madness of "Hooked on Polkas," the high-energy album closer from Dare to Be Stupid. We break down Weird Al's brilliant medley choices, discuss what makes polka so undeniably fun, and celebrate the joy of accordion-fueled chaos. Is this the ultimate party anthem? Does "Hooked on Polkas" still hold up today? And just how does one become a certified "Polka Bob"? Tune in for laughs, deep dives, and—of course—some serious polka appreciation!Beer'd Al is a polka-riffic member of the OddPods Media Network.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/beer-d-al-podcast--5439475/support.

This week we're back to talking Polkas with Christian Bladt (who's our most prolific polka guest!) to cover Polka Power! It's easy to argue this being the Polka from Al with the most stacked set list! We dive in song by song to figure out which (if any) is the weakest link! Learn more about your ad choices.

Hi Fancy Folks! The weather is warming up and you know what that means: itsy, bitsy, teeny, weeny, yellow polka dot bikinis. Polka dots are a quintessential summer print. But how did they come about, why do we like them so much and are we the only animals drawn to this bold and graphic print? Join your favorite curious scientist as we explore the science behind polka dots. We'll learn about how penguins use dots to identify their mates, how the cosmetic industry is taking advantage of new carbon nanodots and even take a trip down memory lane to when I was working in the field. So ditch the lab coat, grab a bold print and come and learn with us. Check out our featured friend's podcast: Strange by Nature https://strangebynaturepodcast.com/ If you've learned something from this episode, share it with a friend.
