Phil Coulson preaches on the way in which God revealed His plan for Israel, the Messiah and the Church in stages over the centuries. This “progressive revelation” was orderly and providentially guided, and helps us to understand why Israel were blind to so much that looks obvious to us in retrospect. Readings: Luke 18:31-34, 24:44-45, 2 Cor 3:14-16. (Recorded in Stark Road Gospel Hall, Livonia, MI, USA, 21st Oct 2024) The post What Is Progressive Revelation? In this episode of the Biblical Anarchy Podcast, host Jacob Winograd delves into the complexities of eschatology, New Covenant theology, and progressive revelation. He discusses the continuity between the Old and New Testaments, exploring how church fathers and theologians throughout history have understood these themes. Jacob emphasizes that the promises made in the Old Covenant are not discarded but fulfilled and transformed through Christ in the New Covenant. Key concepts like covenant theology, the land promise, and the gradual unfolding of God's redemptive work are explored through the lens of various theological traditions, particularly from a Reformed perspective. Jacob also reflects on the relationship between the Old Testament teachings and New Testament revelations, citing the works of theologians such as R.C. Sproul, John Chrysostom, and John Calvin.Towards the end of the episode, Jacob shifts the focus to current events, addressing the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East. He explores the implications of violence and foreign policy in light of Christian teachings, urging Christians to pursue peace and challenge the misuse of power. This episode calls for an active Christian voice in anti-war movements, reminding believers of their duty to hold governments accountable and to champion the Kingdom of God through acts of justice and love.Full Shownotes: https://libertarianchristians.com/episode/ep-78-what-does-matthew-5-teach-us-about-the-new-covenant-and-progressive-revelation/The Biblical Anarchy Podcast is part of the Christians For Liberty Network, a project of the Libertarian Christian Institute. Over 1 billion people today believe or are taught a Monarchical view of the Trinity. In this model the Father alone has self-existence and is the "true God" within the Godhead, while the Son and Spirit proceed forth or are generated by the Father. This view is underpinned by a subordinationist tradition of church fathers and several key verses taken out of context. In Exodus chapter 6 God answers Moses' question at the end of chapter 5, “why have you brought trouble on this people?” God answers Moses with a recap of what he is going to do in the coming chapters of Exodus. Verses 13-30 of Exodus chapter 6 include a genealogy which traces from Jacob through his eldest three sons down to Moses and Aaron and ends at Aaron's grandson Phinehas. This genealogy, though somewhat random, does have a purpose. God is sovereign and has a plan, from the beginning of time, until the end, God has a plan and is orchestrating it one step at a time. Outline: 1:08 - Recap Exodus 3-5 4:11 - Exodus 5.21-22 5:20 - John 16:33 - in this life you will have trouble… 6:25 - Overview 7:07 - Exodus 6.1-12 09:04 - Exodus 6.1-12 Recap 09:37 - Exodus 6.3 - “but by my name the LORD I did not make myself fully known to them.” Progressive Revelation, we learn more about God through his progressive revelation to us through the Bible, through time. God bless you.Psalm 91; 1 Corinthians 13:6-13; The Setting of the Psalm; The Psalmist, who is a godly person, enters theprotective area of Yahweh, the Temple sanctuary. In the sanctuary he testifies andinstructs out of his experience of deliverance by the Lord. He expresses his doctrine or belief(v1) and then details what he learned from his struggle and deliverance. He also testifies about the prophetic words of the Lord to him in verses 14-16.But in the context of Progressive Revelation, how would N.T. believersunderstand these verses, especially in the context of a broader, more comprehensive understanding of life in Christ both now and forever.Remember this Psalm was probably an older Psalm where the idea of anafter-life was less developed. Compare Genesis 25:7-8 and the N.T. statements about the eternal part of life in Christ, a few examples: John 14:1-4; Revelation 21-22 etc. When a Christian reads and meditates on this Psalm they realize the completefulfillment of its promises found in verses 3-13 will not be perfectly realized until our eternal life or after-life experience. Note can verses like 9 & 10 be fully experienced in this fallen world? (note John 16:33; also the example of the Christmas Carol), again considering the dynamic of progressive revelation.

It takes the entire Bible to show us how we can become the complete expression of JesusChrist in the world, and it takes the work of the Holy Spirit in interpreting this Scripture to us.In this podcast, we will take a quick look at how the Old Testament helps us to discover what God's plan for humankind was since the beginning.

Galon and Scott talk about the belief that God speaks to us today. The phrase "Progressive Revelation" is discussed. God spoke to us directly in scripture, when He gave His law to Moses, through the divinely inspired books of the New Testament, through His prophets and from Jesus Christ. WHY PROGRESSIVE REVELATION? Did you know that no scriptures in the Old Testament describe that the promised Messiah would die and rise from the dead? Oh, I know plenty of New Testament writers reflect on scriptures adding their revelation to them. But the Old Testament saints did not know that. WHY? Because God used a mixture of missed direction and progressive revelation to bring about total victory at the right time, do you see where first Corinthians 2:6 Paul tells us that if the rulers of this world, both natural and spiritual, had known this, they never would have killed the son of God? So we see that God hides certain things until the season is right to reveal them. Look at Luke 24:44. Jesus joined his disciples after the resurrection and opened their understanding of his death and resurrection. As Israelites, they were not taught this, so they have no revelation as yet. Because the scriptures tell us that it is line upon line, here a little and there a little, that is how revelation comes, and when it does, we must be careful and sensitive to be obedient to what we have received. The scripture says if you are obedient, you will eat the good of the land. And if you're disobedient, you will dwell in a dry country. The continuing unfolding of the mysteries of God that we call revelation has everything to do with our obedience to what we know now. The word of God tells us that if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we will have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Christ will cleanse our sins. So join me today as we rejoice in what we know. Revel in your knowledge and understanding in Jesus Christ because it is your foundation for unveiling tomorrow's mysteries. God regulates in His Word how He desires to be worshipped. HE has the RIGHT to regulate it, and only HE KNOWS how to regulate His worship. God has determined at specific times HOW He is to be worshipped. This Biblical Historical context will help the New Testament church to understand how it is to worship and know something of the Reforming work of God in Public Worship- --1- The Divine Revelation of Worship--2- The Progressive Revelation of Christ

On today's Bible Answer Man broadcast (02/28/22), Hank answers the following questions:What are your thoughts on progressive revelation? Can you give me a convincing argument as to why there should be denominational unity? What do you think about the gap theory? Do you know about Kellie Copeland arguing with her ex-husband on Facebook? Are the sins of the fathers being passed on to their children because they are misleading them? You said there are no generational curses, but the book of Galatians says that Jesus came to bear the curse for us; so, what is this curse?I've heard you talk about general revelation and the age of the earth; does that mean the Bible is skipping over millions of years in the creation account?

Today I'm speaking with my friend J.D. King about progressive revelation—the idea that God's character and plans are revealed progressively to us over time and that newer revelation provides a fuller, richer understanding of Him. Resources J.D. King's blog can be found here. The article J.D. wrote on progressive revelation can be found here. The book I referred to about the man who died and went to heaven is titled, Placebo, by Howard Pittman.
