What do you do when you believe in Jesus Christ—but don't feel close to Him? When the doctrine still makes sense, the invitations are familiar, and yet your heart feels heavy or stalled? In this episode, Scott and Deb talk candidly about faithful discouragement, emotional distance, and the quiet struggle of trying to “receive Christ” when it doesn't feel easy or inspiring. Drawing from Alma 7, the Savior's experience in Gethsemane, insights on grace from Adam Miller, and Elder Jeffrey R. Holland's reassurance that we are never too far gone, this conversation reframes grace as Christ staying with us before He changes us. If you've ever wondered whether your weariness disqualifies you—or if Christ still comes close in the quiet—this episode is for you.

Send us your feedback — we're listeningJohn 14:27 — Receiving Christ's Peace When New Year Pressure Feels Overwhelming. Scripture (NIV) John 14:27 — “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you… Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”Psalm 46:10 — “Be still, and know that I am God.”  Welcome to Daily Prayer with Reverend Ben Cooper, recorded live in London, England, where the world gathers for five minutes of faith, hope, and strength. As the world approaches midnight, pressure rises — expectations, comparisons, and the noise of “a better year” weigh heavily on many hearts. Prayer Father, tonight I surrender every pressure I feel — the expectations of others, the deadlines I couldn't meet, the goals I didn't reach, and the noise that overwhelms my peace. Silence the inner critic. Remove the fear of failure. Break the weight of comparison.Jesus, breathe Your stillness over my mind. Let Your peace settle my spirit and quiet the racing thoughts that try to follow me into the new year.Replace anxiety with calm. Replace striving with rest. Replace dread with steady confidence. Holy Spirit, anchor me in Your presence. Let the storms within me fall silent. As this year closes, establish a new rhythm of peace that no voice, no pressure, and no expectation can break. Prayer peace over expectations, freedom from comparison, release from inner pressure, calm for anxious minds, emotional stillness, strength for tomorrow, confidence in God's guidance Life Application  Take five slow breaths, read John 14:27 aloud, and ask God to reveal one pressure you need to release before the new year begins. Declaration I declare the peace of Christ rules in my mind, my emotions, and my future. Call to Action Share this prayer with someone carrying pressure tonight. Before creation, God knew that there would need to be a plan for salvation and He incorporated that plan in every aspect of His handiwork. Since Jesus' life, death and resurrection, we are now offered the gift of salvation entirely free. We must lay aside our attempts at payment and simply receive this gift.

Christmas reveals God's way of working: humility comes before exaltation. Instead of entering the world with power and spectacle, God came quietly and lowly, just as He often humbles His people before lifting them up. Jesus' birth shows that God Himself follows this pattern. Christ was born in poverty and obscurity, not in a palace or with earthly power. The manger points forward to the cross, showing a life marked by humility and self-giving. Christmas reminds us that salvation comes by God's grace, not human strength or pride. This makes Christmas personal and hopeful. God meets us in our weakness and brokenness, coming down to where we are. Receiving Christ requires humble, childlike trust, and the God who came low is the God who lifts the lowly.

And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.   And now Lord,  make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.  For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life.  Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ.  Amen.  OUR WEBSITE: www.dailyradiobible.com We are reading through the New Living Translation.   Leave us a voicemail HERE: https://www.speakpipe.com/dailyradiobible Subscribe to us at YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@Dailyradiobible/featured OTHER PODCASTS: Listen with Apple Podcast DAILY BIBLE FOR KIDS DAILY PSALMS DAILY PROVERBS DAILY LECTIONARY DAILY CHRONOLOGICAL

Preaching teaching and healing, is what Jesus did, but what would help us to see Him for who He really? Why would God make a body that can get sick, teeth that can fallout, or animals that will attack and kill us? Who told Isaiah what words to use in the scroll that Jesus would later recite from in the synagogue? What is the real definition of preaching -vs- teaching? For answers to this question and more, please listen to "Receiving Christ," by Pastor Jamie.
