Against Ageism: A Queer Manifesto starts with what it is not: it is not a socio-economic argument against ageism, celebrating “the elderly” as economically viable. Author Simon(e) van Saarloos is not interested in natural arguments about age, which portray different age groups as valuable because of assumed inherent qualities. Instead, this manifesto starts with an experience of childhood sexual abuse, and moves on to dissect the ways in which constructions of “age” and “youth” function to support and reproduce white supremacist patriarchy. The book includes two reproductions of works by painter Samantha Nye. "Age! What is good for? Absolutely nothing! (Apart from greasing the wheels of capitalist reproduction.) In this queer manifesto, Simon(e) van Saarloos weaves a wealth of militant sex-liberationist, afrofuturist, transfeminist and decolonial imaginaries into their anti-ageist sails, charting a confident course across contemporary society's generational hang-ups as well as visiting, in some more personal moments, their own." -Sophie Lewis, author of Abolish the Family: A Manifesto for Care and Liberation and Full Surrogacy Now: Feminism Against Family Simon(e) van Saarloos is the author of Take ‘em Down (Publication Studio Guelph) and Playing Monogamy (Publication Studio Rotterdam). On June 15, 2021, Saarloos was named the 20th head coach in program history. Saarloos joined the coaching staff in the summer of 2012 after two seasons as the pitching coach at Cal State Fullerton. During that time, the Horned Frogs have totaled six conference regular season and tournament championships, double the total of the next-closest schools, as well as four College World Series appearances. Hired initially as a pitching coach in Summer of 2012, he was promoted to recruiting coordinator the following year.In his time at TCU, his presence has been felt both on the field and off the field. As the recruiting coordinator for nine seasons, Saarloos mentored one of the nation's top pitching staffs which was a key factor in TCU's four straight trips to the College World Series from 2014-17. He made a similar impact in his first season as the head coach, guiding the Horned Frogs to a Big 12 Regular Season championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. His efforts on the field earned him Big 12 Coach of the Year accolades, making him the first coach in Big 12 history to claim the award in his first season as the head coach.

If you want to really understand the humanity of wine and its impact on the soul, listen here, listen now.

Podcast: Download ABC van Perversies: Erotomanie Kultipedia over Tedje en de Flikkers Column over Conchita Wursts nieuwe single (tekst) Interview met schrijver en filosoof Simon(e) van Saarloos en queer artist Kübra Uzun over het online queer art project “Through The Window”
'The Architecture of Sex' symposium explores some of the many questions and ambiguities inspired by the work Cruising Gezi Park (2021) by Kübra Uzun and Simon(e) van Saarloos. All guests, activist and writer Jeanette Chedda, co-founder and organizer of the Amsterdam Black Women Collective and PhD student Tracian Meikle, master student political and urban sociology Benjamin Asante, queer organizer and researcher René Boer, and researcher and feminist thinker Sophie Lewis, present an essay on one of those questions, which is discussed afterwards. Topics range from ableist architecture and surveillance technologies, to sexual communication and disobedience in the city. In the audio installation Uzun and Van Saarloos take a walk through Gezi Park, Istanbul. Since the protests in 2013, the park is continuously surrounded by police and few dark spots are left, because trees and shrubs are cut. You can listen to Kübra's memories, visiting the park as a teenage boy for sex, in the exhibition https://refresh.amsterdam/ (Refresh Amsterdam and online). In the audio installation, Kübra's voice interweaves with the sounds of Amsterdam's Oosterpark, of trees and shrubs being trimmed and cut, which is also lit up by an increasing amount of street lights. Similarly to Istanbul, these “cleaning” measures are portrayed as protection for gay cruisers and white women. The audio installation's fake grass marks the violence of gentrification, as well as celebrating the queer and drag appreciation of artificial aesthetics. The red light in the installation both refers to the color of nationalism in Turkey and the increasingly gentrified Red-Light district in Amsterdam. Made possible by the support of the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts (AFK) and DutchCulture. Haar essays laten zien hoe ingewikkeld identiteit is. Meelezen?
