WMAL INTERVIEW - SHERIFF CHUCK JENKINS - Frederick County, MD Sheriff https://www.frederickcosheriff.com/office-of-the-sheriff TOPIC: Biden Admin Limiting ICE arrests, deportations Psaki pressed on Biden admin not deporting illegal immigrants who drive drunk (Fox News) - White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was confronted by reporters on Monday about reported pending guidance that would spare some illegal immigrants convicted of less serious offenses from deportation, as the Biden administration lays the framework for its immigration strategy. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is expected to issue new guidance stipulating that undocumented immigrants who have been convicted of driving under the influence, solicitation, simple assault, and drug-based crimes may no longer face deportation, as reported by The Washington Post. Psaki noted that prioritization of who is subject to deportation is ultimately up to the Department of Homeland Security, which will determine who presents the greatest national security threat. The guidance is reportedly an effort to focus more resources on national security issues, suspects in sex crimes, and gang members, among other high-risk individuals. The crime wave throughout the country is getting worse every day, particularly with juveniles who walk the streets in packs and senselessly beat innocent victims. Today, we are joined by Frederick County, Maryland, Sheriff Chuck Jenkins, one of the last men who still believe in law and order, to discuss the absolutely horrific knockout attack that occurred at his county fair in broad daylight that resulted in the death of an innocent man. He believes that we simply are not deterring criminals anymore because of our increasingly weak justice system. Jenkins is also a leader in the 287(g) immigration enforcement program, which ensures that illegal aliens arrested for crimes are turned over to ICE. He explains how he has successfully removed nearly 1,530 illegal alien criminals, many of them gang members, who are now out of the country and can no longer harm more people. Sheriff Chuck Jenkins on opioid crisis, immigration, gun control, and school safety. Aired 03/09/19.
Sheriff Jenkins talked about his testimony in Annapolis defending 287G and immigration policies in the state. HB0913 (cross-filed with SB0817) Prohibiting an employee or agent of a correctional facility from detaining a certain person beyond a certain date or notifying federal immigration authorities of certain information about a certain person under certain circumstances; prohibiting a police officer from inquiring about certain information under certain circumstances; and making the provisions of the Act severable. HB1165 (cross-filed with SB0718) Prohibiting, except under certain circumstances, a government agent from requesting information about immigration or citizenship status of a person or a person's family members or acquaintances; prohibiting a government agent from coercing information or action from a person by using certain information; authorizing a person to use a certain legal remedy and recover court costs and reasonable attorney's fees under certain circumstances; etc. HB1273 (cross-filed with SB0599) Requiring each county board of education, public institution of higher education, and hospital to establish a policy on or before July 1, 2020 that limits immigration enforcement on the premises to the fullest extent possible consistent with federal and State law based on certain guidelines established by the Attorney General; and requiring the Attorney General, in consultation with certain stakeholders, to develop certain guidelines on or before December 31, 2019.
Sheriff Chuck Jenkins was born in Frederick County and graduated high school in 1974. After 16 years in the communication satellite industry, he went through Harford County Law Enforcement Academy and in 1990 became employed by the Frederick County Sheriff’s Department. In 1993 Jenkins became a criminal investigator, and that was a very good thing for him, and he was inspired to go on and do a lot of other stuff. And that’s when we get into the crazy part. Jenkins’ pet issue is illegal immigration, which boggles the mind.
In his first interview since the election, Sheriff Chuck Jenkins speaks with Tim and Frank about a number of topics including his new push against panhandlers on the highways.
Karl Bickel (D), hopes to finally oust Sheriff Chuck Jenkins in his second official campaign after failing to secure enough votes for a write-in campaign against the three-term incumbent in 2010. Bickel has called for a more progressive and unilateral approach to the opioid epidemic, as well as a close re-evaluation of Jenkins' agreements with federal immigration partners, which he believes could come with a heavy price.
