U.S. President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump went head to head in Atlanta last week in the first Presidential debate of this campaign cycle. The debate was not a good look for the Democrat side, with calls for Biden to stand down as their nominee. The Spectator's Washington Editor Amber Athey told Mike Hosking it was a result many were expecting. LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Joe Biden and Donald Trump go live in Atlanta tomorrow afternoon, New Zealand time. The televised US election debate is the earliest in the campaign since 1960, with Americans going to the polls in just over four months. It's the third time the US President and the former President will go head to head after two heated encounters in 2020. The Spectator's Washington Editor Amber Athey says the debates don't have as much sway on voters as most pundits would like to believe they do. She told Mike Hosking that this one will mostly be about showing who's physically and mentally fit to be President. Athey says so long as you can get through it relatively successfully, not much will change where voters stand on the candidates. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Amber Athey, author of the newly released book "The Snowflakes' Revolt: How Woke Millennials Hijacked American Media," is weighing in on how the "liberal woke takeover" is affecting journalism and journalistic standards. "The way that this strain of progressivism approaches journalism is completely divorced from what we traditionally understand as journalistic ethics and standards," said Athey, Washington editor for the Spectator. "These individuals believe that the media is just another platform for which they can advance political activism, and they've rewritten the rules of journalism to reflect that," says Athey, who previously covered the White House for The Daily Caller and hosts a weekly radio show, "Unfit to Print," on WCBM-680 in Baltimore. "So, it's no longer about objectively trying to find the facts and get somewhere close to the truth and presenting facts to the reader so they can make their own decisions."Athey adds: It's now about fighting on behalf of the downtrodden, or "speaking truth to power," or making sure that you are not causing offense to marginalized groups.Athey joins today's episode of "The Daily Signal Podcast" to discuss some examples of this liberal woke takeover of the media that she's referring to, whether she thinks this liberal takeover was inevitable or could have been prevented, and how conservatives can work to counter the influence of these corporate media outlets. The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Episode (04/07/2023): 3:05pm- Multiple United States Senators, including New Jersey Senators Bob Menendez and Cory Booker, have requested the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) address the sudden rise in whale deaths along the Atlantic Coast. Interestingly, while demanding answers, the Democrat lawmakers did not mention that the unusual number of deaths could potentially be linked to offshore wind development's usage of sonar to map the ocean's floor, as many environmental experts believe. 3:15pm- While appearing at San Francisco State University to advocate for the rights of biologically female athletes, NCAA swimming champion Riley Gaines was physically assaulted by a mob consisting of transgender activists. 3:35pm- In his latest editorial, Billy Binion of Reason writes that Philip Esformes—who had his sentence commuted by former President Donald Trump—is now being prosecuted again. Binion writes, “[i]n a move that defies historical precedent, the Department of Justice under President Joe Biden is using a legal loophole to re-prosecute Esformes' case—raising grave questions about double jeopardy, the absolute power of the clemency process, and the weaponization of the criminal legal system against politically expedient targets.” You can read the full editorial here: https://reason.com/2023/04/06/trump-commuted-his-sentence-now-the-justice-department-is-going-to-prosecute-him-again/ 3:50pm- While appearing on Fox News with Tucker Carlson, journalist Amber Athey notes that Politico has brought in transgender activists to oversee reporters and guarantee potentially offensive language is never printed. Should activists be able to silence the language of journalists? 4:05pm- In an explosive interview with Mehdi Hasan on MSNBC, independent journalist Matt Taibbi defended his work on the “Twitter Files” and blasted Hasan's network for promoting “fake Russiagate stories” while ignoring credible stories like Hunter Biden's laptop. 4:10pm- Do you want to have a beer with Senator Elizabeth Warren? 4:15pm- FACT CHECK: According to a misleading headline from the Miami Herald the “13-year-old son of Rebekah Jones, whistleblower who clashed with DeSantis, arrested over memes.” Christina Pushaw, a political aide for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, notes that “he threatened to shoot up his middle school and stab classmates who angered him.” 4:35pm- While appearing on MSNBC, former Federal Prosecutor Carol Lam called it “troubling optics” that State Supreme Court Justice Juan M. Merchan—the judge overseeing the Donald Trump criminal case in New York City—donated money to President Joe Biden's 2020 presidential campaign. 4:40pm- The Tennessee House voted to expel State Representatives Justin Jones and Justin Pearson for their involvement in a gun-control protest outside of the state's Nashville Capitol building which resulted in aggressive activists forcing their way into the House chamber. 4:45pm- In his latest editorial, National Review's Rich Lowry argues that former President Donald Trump was extorted by adult film star Stormy Daniels. Lowry writes: “There's been a lot of focus on the timing of the $130,000 payment to Daniels near the end of the 2016 campaign. Trump's pursuers say this shows how the hush money was all about making the story go away right before the election. But the timing was also a function of Daniels and her side realizing that right after the release of the Access Hollywood tape was the point of maximum leverage to make an extortionate demand. ‘Pay me or I will expose you' is undoubtedly a form of blackmail.” You can read Lowry's full editorial here: https://www.nationalreview.com/2023/04/yes-trump-was-extorted/ 5:00pm- The Drive at 5: Jimmy Failla—stand-up comedian & Fox News Radio host—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss his Laughs & Liberty Tour with Kennedy, idling vehicles during Tuesday's NYC Trump arraignment (where were the climate activists???), and men wearing yoga pants. You can hear The Best of Jimmy Failla every Saturday on 1210 WPHT. 5:25pm- While appearing on MSNBC with Chris Hayes, political commentator Elie Mystal explicitly claimed that Republicans hate black people—and blamed racism for the removal of two Tennessee State Representatives who were involved in a gun-control protest outside of the state's Nashville Capitol building which resulted in aggressive activists forcing their way into the House chamber. 5:35pm- Dr. Victoria Coates—former Deputy National Security Advisor & Senior Research Fellow at The Heritage Foundation—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss Russia's wrongful detention of Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich. According to The New York Times, Russia has formally charged Gershkovich with espionage, an allegation that U.S. officials vehemently deny. Dr. Coates also analyzes a newly released review of the Biden Administration's withdrawal from Afghanistan. National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby bizarrely claimed the administration had a “lot to be proud of” regarding their devastatingly chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan which left behind billions of dollars in military equipment and resulted in the death of thirteen U.S. troops. 6:05pm- Disney goes woke…AGAIN. According to reports, the upcoming remake of the 1989 animated film “The Little Mermaid” will feature the song “Kiss The Girl” but with heavy edits to guarantee audience members don't think Prince Eric has forced himself upon Ariel. 6:30pm- Reviewing the Biden Administration's self-assessment of its withdrawal from Afghanistan, CBS News' Ed O'Keefe said the 12-page document is a “whitewash” of the administration's disastrous strategy. 6:45pm- According to a report from The New York Post, Hunter Biden has three pieces of art for sale at a New York City gallery. Each piece is priced at $85,00.

John J. Miller is joined by Amber Athey to discuss her book, 'The Snowflakes' Revolt.'
For years, conservatives consoled themselves about how campus "snowflakes" would melt when they ran into the harsh reality of the "real world." But instead, snowflakes have remade the world to match their ideology, and nowhere has this been more extreme than in the American media. Amber Athey of The Spectator joins to lay out the radical ramifications of this shift, from journalists trained not to use "gendered" language to "centrist" outlets that mindlessly repeat the talking points of climate alarmists. Plus, Kalen D'Almeida of TPUSA's Frontlines reports on Antifa's latest violent activities in California, which sound surprisingly similar to the battle tactics of medieval Vikings.Support the show: http://www.charliekirk.com/supportSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
