A truly international band composed of a Brit, a Frenchman, two Americans and two Canadians, The Wilderness formed in 2015. The Wilderness is the lifelong dream of six rock n' roll devotees based in Kingston, ON. Together, they bring the piss and vinegar of young DIY road-dogs, the lyrical eloquence of Canada's folk heroes, and the musical grandeur of your dad's favourite arena-rock band to any stage they can find. Think the belting poetry of Sam Fender, the lush vocal harmonies of Hozier, the driving guitars and soaring saxophones of Bruce Springsteen, and the effervescent choruses of Noah Kahan, held together by an unmistakable bond of brotherhood and a shared love of rock n' roll. A musical tapestry of truest Canadian fashion, the Wilderness sounds like nostalgia, feels like camaraderie, and looks a lot like a band you should watch out for.Since 2015, The Wilderness have been earning their following by cutting their teeth over countless long nights and hundreds of thousands of kilometers. Their debut album, “Until Tomorrow” was produced by Rob Baker (the Tragically Hip) and charted on the NACC's top 200 list for seven consecutive weeks. Their forth coming 2024 LP, “Strangers I Used to Love” was written in collaboration with JUNO panelist Steve Foley, Brett Emmons (the Glorious Sons), and Chris Koster (ex-the Glorious Sons) and sits poised to take the band to new heights and highways. With almost 600 independently booked shows across North America under their belt, and an independently released discography to their credit, the Wilderness are a formidable musical force and an unmistakably human band working hard to keep their dreams alive. It's hard to believe a 2-time All-Big 10 safety who was a part of four Rose Bowls and two Super Bowls didn't have football on his radar until high school. Mike Harden loved track growing up and his speed was impressive. So much so, when he was in 9th grade, his track coach (who was also an assistant football coach at the high school) had him run for the head football coach. It took two 40-yard dashes for the coach to proclaim Mike was his new starting free safety. He learned the game quick and by the end of high school had multiple big-name schools knocking on his door. He chose Michigan where he turned heads on the football field and graduated with a Political Science and Communications degree. He wouldn't need the degree for a while because the Broncos drafted him in 1980 and Mike found himself in a defensive backfield with Louis Wright, Billy Thompson and Steve Foley. For 9 seasons he taunted Broncos opponents at cornerback, safety and free safety racking up 33 interceptions, 4 touchdowns and 11 fumble recoveries. In 1989, he was cut and picked up by the Raiders where he had 5 picks and 3 fumble recoveries over 2 seasons. Mike's body told him it was time to be done after the 1990 season and he tried a variety of professions including the restaurant business and real estate. He also started to live a little too large and got into legal trouble for fraud. While serving time in a halfway house, Mike realized he needed to head in a different direction. He got his master's degree and for 8 years counseled people dealing with addition at the Serenity at Stout Street Foundation. He's completely retired now and serves on the board of the Denver Broncos Alumni Association.
When Broncos first year head coach Dan Reeves drafted him in 1981, Steve Busick had already played with some big-name defensive teammates at USC: Clay Matthews, Ronnie Lott, Dennis Smith and Jeff Fisher to name a few. During his college career, the Trojans won back-to-back Rose Bowls and were National Champions in 1978. When the linebacker came to Denver he joined the likes of Tom Jackson, Randy Gradishar and Steve Foley on the Orange Crush Defense. Bottom line: Steve Busick knew what it meant to be surrounded by great teammates and how to win. Steve played 5 seasons in Denver and went to the playoffs twice. He was coming off what he felt was a solid year when the Broncos finished 11-5 in 1985 and Reeves called him into his office. He was trading Steve to the Rams where he would be reunited with his college head coach John Robinson. Steve wasn't happy about leaving Denver but liked the idea of playing for Robinson again. It didn't last long. A few games into the 1986 season, Steve tore his ACL and was done for the year. He tried to come back in 1987 but his knee wasn't the same. After he retired, Steve heard about a Denver glass company that was going out of business. He had just enough money to buy the business. With zero knowledge about windows or running a business, Steve hired the right people and built Busick Insulated Glass into a very successful company that has been going strong for over 3 decades.
He was a walk-on quarterback at Tulane University with no aspirations to play in the NFL. In fact, when the Broncos came to New Orleans to work him out, Steve Foley declined and said he wasn't interested. The Broncos drafted him anyway. Under Defensive Coordinator Joe Collier, Steve was converted into a defensive back and eventually a safety. He became a hard hitting force on the Orange Crush Defense with a knack for catching the ball from opposing quarterbacks. He still holds the franchise record for most career interceptions with 44. After 11 seasons with the Broncos, Steve hung up his cleats (on his own) and tried to figure out retirement. Through his faith and an aptitude test, he eventually found a career he loved and has been very successful.

RockerMike and Rob discuss The Replacements. The Replacements were an American rock band formed in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1979. Initially a punk rock band, they are one of the main pioneers of alternative rock. The band was composed of the guitarist and vocalist Paul Westerberg, guitarist Bob Stinson, bass guitarist Tommy Stinson and drummer Chris Mars for most of its career. Following several acclaimed albums, including Let It Be and Tim, Bob Stinson was kicked out of the band in 1986, and Slim Dunlap joined as lead guitarist. Steve Foley replaced Mars in 1990. Towards the end of the band's career, Westerberg exerted more control over the creative output. The group disbanded in 1991, with the members eventually pursuing various projects. A reunion was announced on October 3, 2012.The band is referred to by their nickname "The 'Mats" by fans, which originated as a truncation of "The Placemats," a mispronunciation of their name. The Replacements' music was influenced by rock artists such as the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, Faces, Big Star, Slade, Badfinger, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Bob Dylan as well as punk rock bands such as the Ramones, the New York Dolls, the Buzzcocks, the Damned, and the Sex Pistols. Unlike many of their underground contemporaries, the Replacements played "heart-on-the-sleeve"rock songs that combined Westerberg's "raw-throated adolescent howl"with self-deprecating lyrics. The Replacements were a notoriously wayward live act, often performing under the influence of alcohol and playing fragments of covers instead of their own material. https://thereplacementsofficial.com/ https://www.latimes.com/books/la-ca-jc-goldberg-replacements-20180601-story.html?_amp=true https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/the-replacements-the-greatest-band-that-never-was-89041/amp/ https://open.spotify.com/artist/4WPY0N74T3KUja57xMQTZ3 https://www.bbc.co.uk/music/sevenages/artists/the-replacements/ Please follow us on Youtube,Facebook,Instagram,Twitter,Patreon and at www.gettinglumpedup.com https://linktr.ee/RobRossi Get your T-shirt at https://www.prowrestlingtees.com/gettinglumpedup And https://www.bonfire.com/store/getting-lumped-up/ https://app.hashtag.expert/?fpr=roberto-rossi80 https://dc2bfnt-peyeewd4slt50d2x1b.hop.clickbank.net https://8bcded2xph1jdsb8mqp8th3y0n.hop.clickbank.net/?cbpage=nb Subscribe to the channel and hit the like button --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/rob-rossi/support https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/getting-lumped-up-with-rob-rossi/id1448899708 https://open.spotify.com/show/00ZWLZaYqQlJji1QSoEz7a https://www.patreon.com/Gettinglumpedup #thereplacementsband #thereplacements #thereplacementslive #bands #band #musically #music #musician #musicvideo #musicproducer #musicproduction --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/rob-rossi/support

University residential colleges, and all-male colleges in particular, have been criticised as having no place in the 21st Century. In this episode, Rowan talks to Steve Foley, the head of St Leo's College, UQ's last remaining all-male college, about how he's acted to change the culture of the college. Steve says he's called out behaviours that he thinks are inappropriate or inconsistent with the values of the organisation, despite resistance from some pockets of the organisation pressuring him not to change the college. Maddy talks with a former St Leo's resident about what he thinks of the changes, and where the residents themselves have had struggles with Steve.

Ottawa based singer-songwriter Kae Shelby's inspirational debut album "Music and Motorcycles" is the recording that she always wanted to make, and a life long dream. Kae describes the music on the album as a blend of Southern Rock Infused Canadiana Country that will reach inside and touch your soul. Produced by Anders Drerup and Steve Foley, the new album features eight tracks - six original songs and a couple of great covers; Brad Paisley's "When I get Where I'm Goin'" recorded in memorium for her brother and a long time favourite, Melissa Etheridge's "Late September Dogs". Getting the album out there represents a sense of passage for Kae Shelby, who waited until she mostly wound down a career in policing before allowing her music to take flight. Folk Roots Radio caught up with Kae Shelby at home in Ottawa to learn more about the new album. For more information visit http://kaeshelby.ca.
