Woody and Jake discuss the big breaking news. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
24 rounds of footy will finally conclude tonight, can the Bombers rain on Gold Coast's finals parade? Is paying players like Harley Reid and Tom De Koning on potential going to be harmful to clubs in the future? In a sad day for Carlton, Jack Silvangi has announced his intentions to join a new club. Plus, did the AFL get the All Australian squad right?
Jake talks about Carlton ruckman Tom De Koning signing for St Kilda, the implications for the Blues, what it means for the Saints, and how Geelong might get involved. Then it's time to dissect the silly season currently springing up around Cleveland Browns rookie QB Shadeur Sanders, and whether it's the NFL Illuminati tanking his rookie season, or simply his own flaws as a player that were red-flagged in college.
This week Brian and Harrison kick things off with some general chit-chat, they cover; their big trip to Yellow Iron Fleet's mine site in SW NSW, the Izak Rankine debacle, Tom De Koning situation, F1 summer break, an interesting mailbag submission, plus, 'CHAT-BT'. Joining them on the mic this week is AFL Icon, Doug Hawkins. Dougy, or Hawk as he's known (and hilariously refers to himself in 3rd person), is one of the greats of the game. A legend of the Footscray Football Club, playing 350 games (21 for Fitzroy), he was a club captain, best and fairest and 2x State representative. He was a beautifully balanced footballer, blessed with first class skills and poise, he was quick, strong and tenacious, so much so that they named a wing after at the Whitten Oval. Off the field, Hawk is known as a jovial larrikin, his fun, energy and zest for life has made him one of the most cherished characters within the AFL community. Of course, every persons story has its peaks and valleys, Doug is no exception, from being shown the door at his beloved Bulldogs, to growing up on the rough streets of Braybrook, his journey and subsequent approach to life is something to be admired. It was our pleasure talking footy and life with the Hawk.
