Not all conversations are easy, but when it involves the topics of Death, sex, or money, they are often especially difficult. If you can't talk about it, it makes it hard to learn about it. In this episode, Amber and Katherine chat about how they are handling these often taboo topics with their own kids to help them be prepared and ensure that the information comes from a trusted adult before it comes from the internet. We hope this episode helps you feel brave enough to have those awkward conversations knowing that it will get easier with practice.
There are some topics that society, in general, does its best to avoid at all costs. They're considered taboo or 'too upsetting' or "too triggering" to talk about. But if we can't discuss the inevitabilities of life and living, how are we meant to not fear them and more importantly, not fear how we feel about them. In this episode we decided to tackle the topic of death, dying, and moving on from this life. The conversation took a few turns and we did venture into grounds such as religion and religious beliefs as well as suicide and the impact of someone feeling that there is no other choice for them. Join us for what we believe is an important conversation to have. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/heartsoulroots/message

In this episode of Solutions News, we're talking about COVID-19, our responses to it, and about the whole idea of paying taxes - with Syon Bhanot, a behavioral economist who studies the economics of prosocial behavior. With tax season upon us and a belief that taxes are as certain as “death,” we thought it was time for us at Solutions News to take a closer look at the role taxes play in the USA and other advanced societies. We’re looking at the way taxes actually can be a solution for not only the current pandemic but a host of other social challenges we face as a society. Think of that: seeing taxes as a benefit rather than a burden. Now, that’s some real positive thinking – but it is wholly justified as you’ll be hearing in what follows. Ecclesiastes 2: 18 – 24. City life is a life of Pressa, Pusha, Phanda. It’s hustle and bustle. It’s throwing in hours and hours to succeed, because the only way to really succeed is to work harder than the competition. The problem is that there is a frustration of death. No matter how hard we work, our efforts cannot get rid of death. Death means that we need to leave our efforts behind. The message of Ecclesiastes 2: 18 – 24 is that life has an uncontrollable end. The passage asks us to question how we will work in response to this. Should we quit? Should we look for other meaning in our work? Topics: Death. Hustle and bustle. Work. Working hard. Maslow’s Hierarchy. Purpose. Meaning. Enslavement.
