We're officially past the All-Star Break, and the race for the pennant is officially ON.But first! At long last, Ichiro becomes the first ever Asian player in the Hall of Fame, so of course we have to talk about what that means to us, and how much MLB has changed since his tenure began. Then, a quick overview of the All-Star Game. The NL won this round, but Ohtani has lost Best Dressed...again. Onto the hot stove, Dane Dunning and Stuart Fairchild are the first Asians to move, but some big rumors have us refreshing our feeds until the deadline.Position player news starts with Kim Ha Seong back on the IL, but Bo Bichette and Steven Kwan make big offensive contributions. In pitching, Bryan Woo reaches a legendary record, Brennan Bernadino is has ZERO earned runs in over 11 IP in July, Shota Imanaga gets hung out to dry by his manager, and Kumar Rocker is finding his stride. Lastly, Ohtani shows us that vintage TWP action against the Twins, continues to rake with 6 homers since the break, and is moonlighting as a children's book author.Bryan Woo interview with International Examiner: https://iexaminer.org/seattle-mariners-starting-pitcher-bryan-woo-speaks-on-race-identity-and-being-a-role-model/
Well, almost nothin'. With Bison on assignment in the Alaskan wilderness, the remaining crew kicks off the episode by bringing a fresh round of folks to the bar, including Florida Gators coach Billy Napier, breakout golfer Lottie Wode, and a publicly candid Deion Sanders. Things quickly heat up with a discussion of the massive ESPN and NFL Network merger, as the guys fear it will stifle investigative journalism and raise costs for fans, turning the network into a mouthpiece for the league. They also dissect a presidential executive order on NIL, they celebrate the latest MLB Hall of Fame inductees, heaping praise on the uniquely brilliant and perhaps underrated career of Ichiro Suzuki. (Bison wasn't available for comment).Really quick mention... the show would not be complete without Injury Board, an exclusive networking and marketing firm that connects and refers cases among the best plaintiffs' lawyers in the country. If you're a leader in your community and at the bar, consider checking out InjuryBoard.org for membership and referral opportunities. The episode also features a fiery debate over a potential MLB lockout, sparked by a clubhouse confrontation between Bryce Harper and Commissioner Rob Manfred over a proposed salary cap, a topic that gets things going between the crew. With fantasy football drafts looming, the guys dive deep into running back strategy, arguing over top-tier talent, identifying some sleepers and flagging key players to avoid!--------Oh, and If you're looking for a company to develop your website and digital marketing, Digital Law Marketing offers exclusive regional partnerships, unlike other companies that might prioritize marketing competitors. RUNDOWN Episode 344 of Mitch Unfiltered opens with a humorous lament over the nonexistence of a 344 area code and quickly shifts into cultural reflection—from Morgan Wallen's massive Seattle shows to a heartfelt tribute to late jazz musician Chuck Mangione. Mitch and Hotshot Scott marvel at Ichiro Suzuki's eloquent, humorous, and emotional Hall of Fame speech, calling it mesmerizing and long overdue. Mitch and Hotshot dig into the Mariners' playoff hopes and trade deadline calculus. They debate the potential impact of acquiring Gino Suarez—Seattle fan favorite and current Diamondbacks slugger—and analyze Josh Naylor's recent addition to the lineup. Investment advisor and father of four, John Wasnock of North Bend, WA, stunned the poker world by finishing second in the 2025 World Series of Poker Main Event, earning a $6 million prize. A lifelong poker hobbyist and devoted Mariners fan, Wasnock's dream run began as a bucket-list entry and ended in financial freedom — allowing him and his wife to retire and focus on family. Despite losing a pivotal hand on the river, Wasnock played with composure and integrity, becoming a beloved underdog in the process. Brady Farkas joins Mitch Unfiltered to reflect on Ichiro Suzuki's powerful, funny, and fully English Hall of Fame speech in Cooperstown—calling it the best he's heard. Despite the celebratory weekend, the Mariners' on-field play disappointed, as they went 3–4 and squandered chances to gain ground in the playoff race. Trade deadline buzz surrounds players like Luke Raley and Geno Suarez, while Julio Rodríguez and Cal Raleigh give fans reasons to stay hopeful. Mitch and Jason Puckett (aka "Puck") dive into Chapter 10 of KJAren'ts, with plenty of laughs and commentary. Mitch shares how cohost Hotshot Scott somehow always has the perfect contact—including a North Bend native who just won $6 million as runner-up at the World Series of Poker. They also unpack the Seahawks' surprise release of Noah Fant and speculate on Seattle's thin wide receiver room heading into the season. The Yankees' tumultuous season got a bit more challenging this weekend as they lost their star to injury. The best player in baseball, Aaron Judge, is out for the foreseeable future with a flexor strain in his right elbow. He did not tear his UCL, but the fear of preventing that may cause the Yankees to proceed with caution when figuring out a timetable for his return. Coming off of a series loss to the Phillies, how will the Yankees adjust going forward, and will we see Judge again this year? Jake and Jordan discuss all of the possibilities and share their thoughts about what they think should happen.Slightly over a year ago, Nick Kurtz was getting drafted out of Wake Forest. Now, Kurtz is not only playing in the majors, but he just made MLB history. Kurtz became the first rookie ever to hit four home runs in a major league game. "The Big Amish," Kurtz's nickname despite the fact that he is not Amish, went 6-for-6 with 4 HR, 8 RBI and 19 total bases vs. the Houston Astros on Friday night. Although Jacob Wilson has taken most of the headlines for the A's, they have another star in Kurtz. The guys discuss his historic game, his impressive last couple of months and what the future looks like for the young slugger. While a rookie was etching his name into the record books this weekend, some MLB legends were being immortalized into baseball history. Robbie Ouzts, Seahawks FB sits down with Ian and is ready for the 'real football' to begin, as padded practices start today. He discusses how he sees his role as fullback in this offense, his experience at Alabama with Nick Saban, what we should know about his teammate Jalen Milroe and what he sees in Mile Macdonald. Bottom line, Ouzts can't wait to hit people. The Mariners split with the Angels this weekend, and it was a missed opportunity as the A's swept the Astros. Ian is ready for a balls and strikes challenge system. Ichiro was inducted into the Hall of Fame yesterday and we listen to the best part of his speech, which was just fantastic. Ichiro's commitment to the fans is above any. Kenny McIntosh went down with a significant knee injury over the weekend and it's feared to be season-ending. It's not good for the Seahawks but just a bummer for Kenny. Mollywhop Monday! Chris Crawford and Nathan Bishop join Ian to break down this weekend' series against the Angels. Chris isn't happy with Dan Wilson's management of Bryan Woo on Friday, and feels as though there are times when the players haven't been backed up by their manager. We saw something similar with Logan Gilbert yesterday. However, he admits it's an eye test. Nathan says it's hard to know what happens behind closed clubhouse doors, but Wilson should've gotten himself ejected for Woo. Plus, thoughts on Josh Naylor's Seattle debut. How important is it for the Mariners to add to the roster over the next few days? They go through players available, who would help the most and what the M's would have to give up to get them. The guys reflect on Ichiro Suzuki as he was inducted into the MLB HOF this weekend. Corbin Smith, Emerald City Spectrum sits down to tell us what he saw over the weekend and the bummer that is Kenny McIntosh's ACL tear. It does create an opportunity for Damien Martinez, though. He also tells us what he's seen in the first four days of training camp, as well as why he's so excited to see the guys in pads today. Ian's interview with Ernest Jones IV last week procured some great insight on this team, as well as his own journey this past year. We listen back to the highlights. A Seattle Mariners great headlined this year's immortal class in Cooperstown. Correspondent Gethin Coolbaugh reports.
Send us a textThis coming Saturday evening in Bristol, TN the most fans ever to attend an MLB game are predicted to watch the Reds and Braves. HOF inductions took place Sunday in Cooperstown where it was as hot as it always is for those ceremonies. Dave Parker's son spoke eloquently about him and Dick Allen's widow Willa gave a moving tribute to an all-time great. Billy Wagner, C.C. Sabathia and Ichiro Suzuki all very deserving, were celebrated. The MLB trade deadline is Friday this week and there have yet to be big-time deals but there's still time. This week in baseball's biggest story on the field was Nick Kurtz's amazing game for the A's vs. the Astros in Houston. 6 for 6 with 4 HR's and a record-tying 19 total bases! Shawn Green has company! We talk about Win Probability Added - WPA, which catalogs which players are the ones that contribute to a team's winning chances the most. Barry Bonds, HOFers Babe Ruth, and Ted Williams are the top three with Willie Mays and Henry Aaron right behind on the all-time list and on the pitching side Lefty Grove, Walter Johnson, and Roger Clemens lead the pitchers in WPA and nobody should b surprised. The stats list a ton of HOFers and a few that should be HOFers! It is the Braves that have three pitchers w initials DD not the Rangers. Intro & Outro music this season courtesy of Mercury Maid! Brandon Tierney unleashes a rant on the Yankees' urgent need for a "house cleaning," criticizing the team's lack of accountability and suggesting drastic roster changes like trading Grisham and calling up Spencer Jones. He then shifts focus to the Mets, emphasizing their need for a potent bat and discussing the recent trade for Greg Soto. Tierney passionately argues for Ichiro Suzuki's place among the greatest pure hitters of all time, speculating on his potential if he had started his MLB career earlier, and dives into a lively debate with callers about player comparisons and Little League controversies.
Brandon Tierney argues for Ichiro Suzuki's claim as the greatest pure hitter of all time, even surpassing legends like Ted Williams and Tony Gwynn. Tierney emphasizes Ichiro's incredible hit totals, especially considering he started his MLB career at the age of 27. He postulates that if Ichiro had come to the MLB at a younger, more conventional age (22-24), he would have easily shattered Pete Rose's all-time hit record and solidified his status as the undisputed hitting king. Tierney highlights Ichiro's "ballplayer" qualities—his lack of weaknesses, ability to hit for average while still possessing power, speed, and fielding prowess—as further proof of his unparalleled talent.
