Please forgive my deviation from our usual interview format but the discovery of some very old broadcast tapes has set me upon a sentimental journey and rekindled memories I'd like to share with you. The centuries old proverb “handsome is as handsome does” has never been better exemplified than it was by the celebrated racehorse Tobin Bronze. He ticked every box as a thoroughbred type and endeared himself to racing fans in four magnificent seasons on Australian tracks. His few disappointing performances always came with a legitimate excuse. His finest moments are still revered by those who were around in the days of the horse they called the “Bronze Bullet”. We'll get back to our usual podcast format next week, but for now I'd like to invite you to join me on a trip down memory lane as we look at the racing life of a deep chestnut stallion who captivated Australia's thoroughbred lovers in the 1960's. Sincere thanks to Melbourne historian Dennis Najin who made available Bill Collins' graphic calls of Tobin Bronze's wins in the Caulfield Cup and Cox Plate of 1967.

Quick recap The meeting began with a discussion about a medical incident involving Keith’s granddaughter and her ongoing recovery, followed by the group sharing their New Year’s Eve experiences and various personal anecdotes. The conversation then shifted to a discussion about McDonald’s menu history and several light-hearted news stories, including stories about monkeys and dinosaur footprints. The conversation ended with a game show trivia quiz hosted by Jill, followed by discussions about New Year’s resolutions and technical aspects of digital devices, before ending with humorous stories and contact information for listeners. Summary Keith, Jill, and Terry discussed a recent incident involving Keith’s granddaughter who swallowed a nail on New Year’s Day. Despite initial concerns, the nail was not found in the emergency room, leading to a hospital stay where she was monitored for its progress through her colon. Keith shared that Adrian was discharged but must continue monitoring her bowel movements for the nail’s removal. The family expressed concern about the incident, with Terry suggesting using a magnet to extract the nail, while Keith emphasized the importance of teaching children not to put foreign objects in their mouths. The group discussed their New Year’s Eve experiences, with Jill mentioning she had to go to the doctor for blood work despite good results, and Terry sharing that he missed the New York Times Square ball drop after falling asleep. They also discussed Terry’s recent incident where he spilled a pitcher of water on his desk, damaging some equipment, and Keith mentioned that McDonald’s McRib's are actually made from pork shoulder and other pork parts, similar to how chicken nuggets are made from ground chicken. News of the Week Jill shared a humorous story about a monkey causing chaos in a Nashville music store, which led to a discussion about escaped monkeys in the southern United States. Keith then shared a heartwarming story about a sea otter pup being reunited with its mother using a recorded distress call played through a Bluetooth speaker. Terry shared a news story about the Bears vs. Lions football game and a humorous AI transcription error where a police officer’s body camera mistakenly transcribed “frog” instead of “fog.” Keith shared a story about 16,000 fossil footprints discovered in Bolivia, which scientists determined belonged to theropod dinosaurs, though the purpose of the footprints remains unclear. The conversation concluded with a brief discussion about how dinosaur footprints are preserved in rock over millions of years. Jill's Trivia Quiz Jill hosted a game show trivia quiz, where she tested Keith and Terry’s knowledge of various game shows. They discussed different shows, including Newlywed Game, Love Connection, and Match Game. Jill explained the rules for answering questions and allowed participants to buzz in with their responses. The quiz covered a range of game shows from different eras, and participants were able to identify some of the hosts and formats. Terry's Top 10 List Terry shared a humorous top 10 list of New Year’s resolutions, including going to the gym and driving past it daily, and learning a new language like “sarcastic teenager.” Anchor Topic The group discussed the DA2 player, with Terry revealing the location of the power button on the right side near the USB ports and explaining how to navigate the menus using the orange button for settings and the shelf key for toggling between lowercase, uppercase, and numeric modes. Terry and Keith discussed the functionality of a new digital player, focusing on its compatibility with a USB keyboard for easier navigation and book selection. Terry shared insights from a call with the library, confirming that users can log into the player on the Bard website to update their Wishlist and download books without needing to add a new player. They noted the player’s durability and weight, comparing it to the Victor Reader, and discussed the potential for using a Bluetooth keyboard for better portability. Terry also mentioned tinkering with meta glasses and the possibility of customizing their lenses, while Keith mentioned not receiving his sunglasses from the previous year. Email and Final Thoughts Keith shared a humorous email about golfing firefighters and a father-son story involving George Washington. The final word from our AI companions The meeting primarily revolved around a light-hearted discussion of New Year’s resolutions, jokes, and humorous anecdotes shared among Keith, Jill, and Terry. They exchanged various jokes and funny stories, including references to Netflix, New Year’s traditions, and personal anecdotes. Keith encouraged listeners to share their funny family stories and questions about blindness, and he reminded everyone to visit their website for the latest episodes. The conversation ended with Keith signing off and providing contact information for listeners to contribute to the show. Show notes written by AI, edited as needed by Keith. It's late-July and we're officially HOT. And so are our gardens. Now is the time that we start to truly sit up and take notice of the plants that seem to be gliding through summer's worst without skipping a beat. Today's episode pays tribute to all those perennials and shrubs that take a lickin' and keep on tickin'. We found some stars that thrive in heat, lean soil, and even some selections for the most dreaded of conditions: dry shade. If these plants do well in awful situations, think how much better they might do in slightly better ones? Expert: Kim Toscano is a horticulturalist, entomologist, garden designer, writer, and graphic designer. She previously hosted Oklahoma Gardening, a weekly PBS television program produced by the Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service.
The Book of Daniel is about surviving and even thriving in a hostile environment. The key to thriving where it is hard is a consistent commitment to boldly living out your faith in Jesus Christ. The impact of this kind of example is life changing for you and for everyone around you!
It is so hard to watch someone who has every opportunity to succeed in life throw it all away. We often stand by powerless watching the train wreck happen. In today's story we watch a young, self-centered king spiral down this path. It is too late to save him, but hopefully we can learn from his mistakes! May his poor example be a “Wake Up Call” for you and me!
Pride, seeking our own glory and pleasure, is the root of all other sins. Nothing separates from God faster and further than our own pride. How far will God go to break our pride and bring us back into relationship with Him?

God is calling us to a Dangerous Faith. This kind of faith is very different than the comfortable faith found in many churches today. Our God is not only the God of the green pastures, He is also the God of the fiery furnace!
Last week we watched Daniel trust God and remain faithful through a very tough situation. This week it gets worse. In chapter 2 Daniel faces an impossible situation! Why does God ask us to face not only difficult situations, but literally “Impossible” situations in life? Let's read together how Daniel walks right through his impossible problem with grace and faith!
We begin a new series this weekend through the book of Daniel. Like Daniel centuries ago, we too live in a culture that is “Hell-bent” on molding us into its own image. How do we remain faithful and even make a difference in a culture that is openly antagonistic to our faith in Jesus Christ?
