In the second segment, Bob Harig, ESPN.com, calls in to talk with Holly and Will. Bob is a long time Cubs fan. Holly asks Bob about Hideki Matsuyama's win and how he has played lately. When Hideki Matsuyama can putt well, he is a force to be reckoned with. He won the Asian Amateur twice. Holly and Bob talked about Hideki taking a backseat to Jordan Spieth and the others who have dominated over the past few years. Will asks Bob which Major event fits Hideki's game? He is a long hitter off the tee. Bob says that Hideki can win the Open Championship or any of the majors if he could get his putting dialed in. Bob talks about how tough it is coming from Japan and trying to learn the language in the U.S. as well as adapt here is a very tough task for anyone. Holly asks Bob about Tiger's official announcement that he will play in the Hero World Challenge. Also the two discuss Tiger's chipping issues and whether there is any truth to the rumors. Bob talks about how so much clamor over Tiger was made officially announced that he was going to play. Everyone expected him to after he said that he would. Tiger still has four more weeks to get ready for the tourney. Bob said that it was a shame that Tiger couldn't play at the Safeway and get all the media attention surrounding his return out of the way. Bob said to expect a lot out of Tiger's game when he first comes back. It would be silly to expect it. It is going to take some time for him to get comfortable inside the ropes again. In the third segment of this week's show Terrie Purdum, Southern Golf Central Magazine's publisher, calls in from the Villages to talk about the latest issue that is a tribute to Arnold Palmer. Terrie and Turf Life have a booth at all the local tournaments like The PNC Father and Son Tournament and the CME Title Holders in Naples. Stop by the booth and pick up bottles of free sunscreen. Terrie also talks about youth golf sensation Bella Dovhey from Oviedo, Fla, whose interview with The King is published in this month's commemorative issue of Southern Golf Central Magazine (pages 10-11). Bella is also an incredible young golfer who has won 3 Jr World Championships and many other tournaments in U.S. Kids Golf. In the final segment of this week's show Todd Lewis, The Golf Channel, calls in to help wrap up another hour of intelligent golf talk. Holly asks Todd about Cody Gribble's win on the PGA Tour. Gribble is from Texas and played alongside Jordan Spieth when they won the National Championship. Todd is amazed of how ready that the players who come out of college today and are ready to play so well on the Tours. Will asks Todd about some other young players who may play well this week at the Shriners. Todd says to watch for Grason Murray, who won his first event on the Web.com Tour in September. Todd talks about Tiger Woods. Unlike any other player, every swing if not every step Tiger Woods makes will be shown on the Golf Channel and he is the only player in the world like that. So when he pulled out of the Safeway Open, Todd says that Tiger wasn't close to being to his level of play that he wanted to be. Todd said that the starts Tiger wanted to have this fall at the safeway, in Turkey and at the Heroes World Challenge were more to prepare him for 2017. Will and Holly both pick Ryan Moore to win this week's Shriners Hospitals for Children Open and Will's backup pick is Scott Piercy, Holly's second pick is Smylie Kaufman.
On the show this week we have a chat about Rory and his new driving weapon of choice. Tiger Wood's new venture TGR is rumoured to be looking at purchasing TaylorMade. Holly and Brendan recap the week in golf including Smylie Kaufman's win at the Shriners Hospital for Children Open in Las Vegas, his first PGA Tour victory. Smylie's best friend Patton Kizzire was one of the players who finished second and passed the time with Smylie while other players finished their final round. Jeff talks about Patton's residence at the Sea Island area with other veteran players. Holly asks Jeff about Rickie Fowler's T-25th place finish when he had been playing so well. Jeff is wondering if Rickie's game is built more for the tougher courses and not a birdie fest venue like the Shriners turned out to be. Jeff and Holly discuss the upcoming Tour events including the CIMB Class where players are competing for $1.26 million in Kuala Lumpar, Malaysia. Jeff pointed out that players could actually make a fortnight of it if they also competed in the WGC-HSBC Champions event. If a player chose to do both they wouldn't have to fly all that way for one event. Holly talks to Jeff about the LPGA Tour where Lydia Ko notched her 10th victory over. She already has 10 wins and is only 18-years-old. She finished the tournament with a 9-shot lead over the field. Provisional Ball -- The provisional ball is designed to help speed up the game. It doesn't apply if the ball went into the hazard. You have to find out if it did go in the water. If you do not and you play a provisional ball you will be penalized. Another rule is the use of the marker, to mark the ball so the player may lift and clean it. One thing he said that golfer's don't always realize is that after they have marked the ball, lifted it and cleaned it, once the ball is placed back on the green it is back in play even if the marker is still behind it.

Vartan feels that most of the guys on today's PGA Tour just bomb the ball. The older players are continuing to have some of the best years of their careers.
