This recording was delayed until Monday morning because life is better with Andy by Brendan's side! Andy's in the dumps following the Illini's loss to Kentucky in the Round of 32, but his spirits were lifted by Tiger Woods hard-launching his relationship with Vanessa Trump on Sunday night. Brendan and Andy unpack all aspects of Tiger's post, from the bizarre caption to the posed photos prominently featuring the Sun Day Red logo. After a quick spin through Vanessa Trump's Wikipedia page, the two move on to the golf, where a "lost" Viktor Hovland ran down Justin Thomas to win the Valspar. Brendan is fired up about how great the PGA Tour's Florida Swing was and imagines Luke Donald is thrilled with back-to-back wins from European Ryder Cup stalwarts. Andy shares some appreciation for Viktor Hovland's openness with the media when discussing his struggles and compares how Hovland and JT played the final few holes down the stretch in different ways. It was a week of viral moments - Billy Boy showed off some ambidextrousness, making a birdie after hitting his approach left-handed, Adam Hadwin broke a sprinkler with a club slam, and Patton Kizzire perfected the "putter punt." Elsewhere in golf, Dick Mansell won on the DP World Tour, the Sunshine Tour is back in the Coetzee Zone, and Miguel Angel Jimenez secured his second Champions Tour win of the 2025 season in California. There's also plenty of chatter about the PGA Tour's DMCA habits, which are back and possibly better than ever! Things wrap up with some March Madness talk following Andy and PJ's trips to their respective regional sites to watch their teams lose in the second round.

An awesome weekend of September golf has Andy and Brendan in great spirits for this Monday episode. To start, Brendan downplays a Browns Victory Monday in the Swag Sports Minute, but Andy is riding high after a great day at the ballpark and delivers the news that Andrew Price won the Crump Cup. After that, the two dive into a loaded weekend of golf, starting with the Irish Open at Royal County Down where Rasmus Hojgaard chased down Rory McIlroy and the Great Manassero for the win. Andy and Brendan share their thoughts on how RCD played for the pros, the TV coverage (or lack thereof) of the tournament, and another disappointing finish for Rory in a tournament that means a lot to him. After that, Meg Adkins calls in from Dulles to help recap the Solheim Cup as the Americans finally secured a win in the competition. Meg shares on-the-ground insights from the week, hitting on the shuttle disasters of Friday morning, standout performances from Nelly Korda and Rose Zhang, Charley Hull's smoking habits continuing to take over social media, and who will takeover as captains for both sides in the next Solheim Cup in September 2026. After wrapping up with the Solheim Cup, LIV Bolingbrook gets featured after Bryson DeChambeau said the course "played close to a major championship test" this week. Jon Rahm took home both the tournament and the season-long title, leading Andy and Brendan to wonder what this means looking back on not only his 2024, but also his career. Producer PJ then joins to share the great news that the leading Champions Tour gambling podcast has stayed hot and even improved on last week's efforts, as Brendan secured a Steve Stricker playoff win for those tailing the picks. To finish things off, Patton Kizzire gets a shoutout for winning the Procore, with Creator Classic alum Wes Bryan taking in a T13 in Napa.

Justin, originally from Northern Ireland, is an elite golf instructor at the impressive Sea Island Resort in Georgia. Over the past few years has worked with many top PGA tour players including Louis Oosthuizen, Davis Love 111, Patton Kizzire, Brian Harman, Gary Woodland as well as working with many elite college and amateur players. In this episode Justin brings us through some help for the club golfers in terms of the process of improvement…. So looking and assessing before we blindly hit the range. We chat about technology and its role for the everyday player as well as an example of what a week of practice would like for a Tour Player. On the coaches section we discuss the influence by the Harmon family on his career and the lesson he learned through those relationships. We also discuss his work with TPI, or the Titleist Performance Institute and how combining that knowledge assists with his assessment of players everyday. We move on to some of Justin's preference in swings, his thoughts on early movement of the ball dynamics and his excitement for exploring the subject of neuro training as we move into 2023 and we also get the opportunity to get him to part with some valuable advice for all coaches out there looking to improve their skills.

They react to the third round as well, giving Mito his due for balling out and assessing his chances for Sunday. There's some critical intel on Matt Fitzpatrick's prep, and anticipation for a Chicago party. Rory McIlroy's horrendous performance is dealt with and everyone involved, including GolfPass, is called to account. There's a best cast/worst case segment on Sunday possibilities, and a debate over more likely backdoor top 5: Rory or Xander. An in depth chat with one of the great coaches in the world of golf and a must listen for any coach eager to progress in the industry. Justin chats about his coaching development, philosophy and the vital ingredients to being a successful coach. We talk about his journey from Northern Ireland to Dubai to his current role at the world renowned Sea Island Golf Resort in Georgia (venue of last weeks PGA Tour event). Establishing the Butch Harmon Golf School in Dubai, recognised as one of the best teaching facilities in the world and now under the successful Directorship of Jamie McConnell (another Irish success story). His thoughts on Bryson DeChambeau, the limitations of the human body and consequential influence on a Tour players career span. The importance of TPI and the use of technological equipment in Trackman, Swing Catalyst and others, in modern day coaching. His relationships with both Butch & Claude Harmon and Wally Ulhein (now retired CEO of The Acushnet Company). His role as Director of Instruction at Sea Island and Coach to Major Champions Gary Woodland, Louis Oosthuizen and PGA stars, Harris English, Patton Kizzire, Brian Harmon and more. ***In the Pods regular feature of “favourite 18/back 9 holes”, Justin did skip the “Best shot you have ever seen” question as there were too many to choose from but the day after our interview I received a message from him with the following... “I stood on the fairway as Stenson hit that 2nd to 18 at Jumeirah Golf Estates. 256 uphill into the wind from a little downslope, over water to a foot. Best shot in a pressure situation I ever saw!!” Understandably an extremely busy Coach who was literally packing his bags for The Masters, to reply a day later I thought was a testament to Justin's character of professionalism, responsibility and above all, friendliness...A class act!***

As a disclaimer, this podcast was recorded with only one of our mics turned on, a problem that went unnoticed until minute 55 or so. We’ll let you guess whose mic was off and we offer our deepest apologies, although if you’re along for the ride at this point, you should expect it and embrace it. This episode dives into the incredible story of Hinako Shinbuno, who won the Women’s British Open and did it with an absolutely exemplary pace and smile the entire time. After raving about the Shibuno story, we shout out the Western Am winner and Zac Blair’s big win on the KFT, which opens the door for a rant or two about the lack of a broadcast for primetime golf. We then move to J.T. Poston’s big win and all the FedExCup bubbles that burst on Sunday. The Viktor Hovland injustice, as you’d expect, is given a full review. Jordan Spieth’s slappy ways are dissected, which yields maybe the hottest take of the year. A stunner of a quote from Patton Kizzire has to have those who missed out on a card, as well as Big Shipping, furious that he snuck in the top 125. We then end with some discussion on the Browns Super Bowl chances.

Holly and Brendan recap the week in golf including Smylie Kaufman's win at the Shriners Hospital for Children Open in Las Vegas, his first PGA Tour victory. He finished ahead of a portion of the field but his 61 was good enough to hold off the eight players who finished tied for second place. With the win he earns a spot at the Masters in 2016. Jeff Shain, The Island Packet, Prime Sports Network, calls in from South Carolina to talk to Holly and Brendan. Holly asks Jeff about Smylie Kaufman's win. Jeff said Smylie started the day seven shots back before finishing with a 61. Kevin Na finished second again for seven runner up finishes, five have come in the last 20 months. He has also finished third several times in that time frame. Jeff said that Na has become one of the best scramblers and it was odd to see him chunk a shot that kept him out of the winner's circle. Smylie's best friend Patton Kizzire was one of the players who finished second and passed the time with Smylie while other players finished their final round. Jeff talks about Patton's residence at the Sea Island area with other veteran players. Holly asks Jeff about Rickie Fowler's T-25th place finish when he had been playing so well. Jeff is wondering if Rickie's game is built more for the tougher courses and not a birdie fest venue like the Shriners turned out to be. Jeff and Holly discuss the upcoming Tour events including the CIMB Class where players are competing for $1.26 million in Kuala Lumpar, Malaysia. Jeff pointed out that players could actually make a fortnight of it if they also competed in the WGC-HSBC Champions event. If a player chose to do both they wouldn't have to fly all that way for one event. Holly talks to Jeff about the LPGA Tour where Lydia Ko notched her 10th victory over. She already has 10 wins and is only 18-years-old. She finished the tournament with a 9-shot lead over the field. The trio talk about how LPGA Commissioner Mike Whan has really helped move the LPGA in the right direction. The final event of the season for the LPGA is fast approaching, the CME Tour Group Championship is in Naples, Florida Nov. 19-22 and Ko is the defending champion. Terrie Purdum, Southern Golf Central Magazine, which is proudly celebrating 16 years, calls in to talk with Holly G and Brendan about the latest issue of the magazine and the upcoming charity events that the magazine is featuring including the Golf for Hope Tournament (Helping Other People Eat) in January. The fabulous Bella Collina in Montverde, Fla., is featured in the latest issue on line pages 38-39.  Holly welcomes Tony Austin to the show to talk about the recent rules of golf changes. Austin is the Director of Programs for Core Golf Education of at Core Golf Academy and also has his own radio show,Core Golf Radio, Saturday mornings at 9 a.m. on  ESPN radio. Tony and Holly talk about the the USGA and R&A's recent release of the 2016 edition of the Rules of Golf.   Withdrawal of Rule on Ball Moving After Address Limited Exception to Disqualification Penalty for Submission of Incorrect Score Card Modification of Penalty for a Single Impermissible Use of Artificial Devices or Equipment Prohibition on Anchoring the Club While Making a Stroke Holly also asks Tony about some of the rules violation that he sees golfers commit. Provisional Ball -- The provisional ball is designed to help speed up the game. It doesn't apply if the ball went into the hazard. You have to find out if it did go in the water. If you do not and you play a provisional ball you will be penalized. Another rule is the use of the marker, to mark the ball so the player may lift and clean it. One thing he said that golfer's don't always realize is that after they have marked the ball, lifted it and cleaned it, once the ball is placed back on the green it is back in play even if the marker is still behind it.

Holly asks Jeff about who is the breakout player of this year. Jeff said that someone we need to keep your eyes on Patton Kizzire who finished second on the Web.com Tour. Todd Lewis, The Golf Channel calls in to wrap up the hour of intelligent golf talk. Holly asks Todd about what he took away from watching the Presidents Cup in South Korea. Lewis commented that it is nice to see golf from a different country's perspective and see how the game continues to grow globally.  Holly asks Todd talks about Tiger's press conference and the update on Tiger's plans to take it easier and not rush himself back to the Tour this time around. Todd feels Tiger's approach after his second back surgery is a great plan. Todd tells listeners that Tiger seems to be a fallen star in the eyes of the fans/public. Fans seem sympathetic toward Tiger and have forgotten his past misgivings and they are rooting for him to make a comeback. Holly and Todd talk about Tiger possibly coming back and challenging the new foursome in golf: Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler and Jason Day. Todd recently had a chance to talk with Henrik Stenson about his upcoming schedule between the European Tour and the PGA Tour and how he might shift some appearances to make sure he is in great shape heading into the major championships this season. Todd feels that Stenson may win a Major championship and will definitely finish in the top 10 and a couple of the majors this year.
