This week we're delighted to welcome Carl Frampton to the show. Second dive into boxing is long overdue and so much has happened since we last visited the sport. A boxing legend and Ring Magazine ‘Fighter of the Year' in 2016, he was the first Northern Irishman to hold world titles in two weight classes, Carl is recognised as one of the best fighters of his generation. As you may expect, there is far more to him than the success he achieved in the ring. This was also the time for us to understand what the life of a top class fighter looks like, and how the business of the sport works from the athlete's perspective. Saudi involvement has elevated both prize money and fight calibre in recent times, correcting some of the big problems in the sport and making the fights that everyone wants to see actually happen. But this hasn't always been the case, and from the promotion world that can consist of exploitation and mismanagement to the challenge of driving commercial opportunities building the brand of the individual, Carl's story is one of both past and present. Now one of the leading media figures in the sport as well as exploring a number of business ventures including his own whiskey brand, we take a look inside a sport that is re-establishing itself as one of the major assets in global entertainment. Whether a fan of Carl or just fascinated by the boxing industry, this is one you'll enjoy. On today's show we discuss: Boxing Industry: A Good Place to be? Why is professional boxing considered by Frampton to be a “crooked” and exploitative business? What happened in Carl Frampton's legal dispute with Barry McGuigan, and what does it reveal about fighter vulnerability? Is the real danger in boxing the fights themselves, or the hundreds of rounds of sparring in training camps? What can be done at the coaching level to reduce head trauma and protect fighters? Business of Boxing: How does a fighter's earning potential evolve from early career to world championship level? What role do management structures play in limiting or enabling endorsement and sponsorship deals? Why did Frampton earn more from sponsorships after leaving his initial management, even without a world title? Why is building a brand now essential for boxers to reach the top commercially? Who are the best and worst examples of fighters whose success (or lack thereof) was defined by branding? Changing World of Boxing: How has Saudi Arabia, and specifically Turki Al-Alshikh, changed the boxing landscape? Why are previously impossible matchups now becoming reality, and how did the Saudi-backed model enable this? Does influencer boxing help or hurt the sport overall? How are fighters like Jake Paul impacting the visibility and pay of other boxers, especially women? Is jealousy among traditional boxers driving backlash against influencer fights? Fighter Psychology & Motivation: How did Frampton's mindset evolve through his career, and did he ever truly enjoy boxing? Why did he set a retirement age early on, and how did that shape his choices in the ring? What motivates fighters to retire and then return and is it often driven by financial pressures? How are fighters like Jake Paul impacting the visibility and pay of other boxers, especially women? After Rory McIlroy dramatically became the sixth golfer in the modern history of the game to win the career Grand Slam at The Masters, Phil and Josh return to discuss this momentous occassion and everything that went on in the world of motorsports. Kyle Kirkwood added his name to the illustrious history at Long Beach, becoming a two-time winner of the event after winning pole for both races. Alex Palou's early season winning streak was ended, but he still had a strong finish. Multiple pit strategies and a completely green flag race made it interesting, while Penske's performance definitely was not Penske Perfect. Kyle Larson dominated 2/3 of the weekend at Bristol, winning the Cup and XFinity races. Yung Money ended up 2nd behind Chandler Smith in the Truck Series event. Rajah Carruth and Martinsville winner Daniel Hemric both had solid days along with the Niece duo. Oscar Piastri inserted himself into the title discussion with a dominant weekend at Bahrain, culminating in a win from pole. The McLaren driver held off Woody Russell and teammate Lando Norris to take the top step. Fish Lips was nowhere the entire weekend while Ferrari had mixed fortunes. Phil is competing as an Am in the ApexOne GT3 Endurance race at Catalunya, so he gives his thoughts on ACC and his feelings going into the event. Can Phil come through with a victory? Someone who many thought would have a victory at Augusta long before Sunday was Rory McIlroy. The Northern Irishman made it unnecessarily interesting throughout the final round, but held on in the first hole of the playoff to make history. Phil was focused on the Masters because it has always been his favorite golf tournament of the year, while Rory's win also was a happy result. The GSP Roundup covered F2/F3/F1 Academy, IMSA, MotoGP/Moto2, Supercars, Formula E, WSBK, WEC and Anthony Wayne Stewart's first career Top Fuel win at Las Vegas in the Four Wide Nationals, with Austin Prock (Funny Car) and Dallas Glenn (Pro Stock) taking the Wally's in their respective classes. Phil and Josh preview the Rockingham return for XFinity and Trucks and make picks along with the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix Formula One race before Josh's Sim Segment and Show Close.

On a thrilling Sunday at the Masters which ended in a playoff, Rory McIlroy emerged victorious at Augusta National for the first time, completing a career Grand Slam in the process to join a list that features Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Ben Hogan, and Gene Sarazen. Rory's five career majors puts him on a list alongside Brooks Koepka, Seve Ballesteros, and Byron Nelson, among others. Smylie Kaufman and Charlie Hulme relive each moment of Rory's Sunday roller coaster, culminating with Scottie Scheffler placing a green jacket on the Northern Irishman. Smylie and Charlie discuss where Rory's legacy stands among the greats, and wrap on several other notable 2025 Masters news items before bidding farewell to the first major of the year.
It was nearly a Masters meltdown for golfer Rory McIlroy at Augusta today. The Northern Irishman was on the cusp of victory, but a bogey on the 18th hole sent it to a play-off with England's Justin Rose. McIlroy won the play-off and finally has a career grand slam. Sports reporter Felicity Reid spoke to Lisa Owen.
Rory McIlroy leads The Masters going into the final round later this evening. If he wins the green jacket, the Northern Irishman would become only the sixth man to win the Grand Slam of golf. But can he overcome the demons of previous Augusta outings? Justin speaks to high performance coach Enda McNulty.
A familiar foe looms as golfer Rory McIlroy's biggest obstacle between the Northern Irishman and a maiden green jacket heading into the final round of the Masters at Augusta. McIlroy carded a third-round six-under par 66, taking him to 12-under overall, as he holds a two-shot lead over LIV golf rival Bryson DeChambeau. It'll be a rematch of last year's US Open showdown, where McIlroy missed two short putts in the final three holes of the event, allowing DeChambeau to snatch a late victory. Graeme Agars joined Piney to recap the action. LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

It's happened, we've got him! Lady Evans is joined by Mr Evans MBE on the Manchester United podcast! This episode was recorded in two parts, the first at the Evans household, before we catch up at Carrington to discuss the fact that the defender is now back at the club, after re-signing in the summer. Hello, is this Pizza Hut? Excellent. My name is Ben Shapiro. Conservative thought leader. Prominent white YouTuber. The Muggsy Bogues of the intellectual dark Web. And—look, it's just a fact—I would like to order some pizza pie. If you are triggered by that request, I do not care. I truly do not. Now let's discuss conditions. First, thank you for agreeing to debate me. Typically, in fora such as this, I am met with ad-hominem mudslinging, anything from “You racist creep” or “Is that your real voice?” to raucous schoolyard laughter and threats of the dreaded “toilet swirly.” However, your willingness to engage with me over the phone on the subject of pizza shows an intellectual fortitude and openness to dangerous ideas which reflects highly on your character. Huzzah, good sir. Huzzah. Second, any pizza I order will be male. None of this “Our pizza identifies as trans-fluid-pan-poly”—no. Pizza is a boy. With a penis. It's that simple. It's been true for all of human history, from Plato to Socrates to Mr. Mistoffelees, and any attempt to rewrite the pillars of Western thought will be met with a hearty “Fuh!” by yours truly. And, trust me, that is not a fate you wish to meet. Now. With regard to my topping preference. I have eaten from your pizzeria in times past, and it must be said: your pepperoni is embarrassingly spicy. Frankly, it boggles the mind. I mean, what kind of drugs are you inhaling over there? Pot?! One bite of that stuff and I had to take a shower. So tread lightly when it comes to spice, my good man. You do not want to see me at my most epic. Like the great white hero of Zack Snyder's classic film “300,” I will kick you. Onions, peppers—no, thank you. If I wanted veggies, I'd go to a salad bar. I'm not some sort of vegan, Cory Booker weirdo. And your efforts to Michelle Obama-ize the great American pizza pie are, frankly, hilarious. Though not as funny as the impressively named P'Zone—when I finally figured out that genuinely creative pun, I laughed until I cried and peed. A true Spartan admits defeat, and I must admit that, in this instance, your Hut humor slayed me, Dennis Miller style. And, with that, you have earned my order. Congratulations. Ahem. Without further ado, I would like your smallest child pizza, no sauce, extra cheese. Hello? Aha. A hang-up. Another triggered lib, bested by logic. Damn it. I'm fucking starving. I think that it's ok to be sexually aroused by Pokemon. More so, I think it should be encouraged in the games and anime, and GameFreak should lean into it. Firstly, some Pokemon are shown to be much smarter then humans. Kadabra has been said to have an IQ over 5000, which is gigantically more than the definition of an animal, which have an IQ between 0 (Worms and Fish) and 65 (Apes and Octopus). Thus, they are smarter then needed to be able to give consent. Secondly, the argument could be made they are not as empathetic as humans, and thus can't give consent. This is proven not to be true numerous times in the anime, by watching Meowth. In Season 2, Episode 16 of the Pokemon show, it is established that he is no smarter or different then regular Pokemon, he simply learnt to walk by watching a dance rehearsal and later learnt English through a picture book. Throughout the following seasons, it's shown how he schemes, laughs, cries and even at points, deceives people into thinking he is a human (in order to steal Ash's Pikachu of course). And the last piece of damning evidence - a folk tale in the Canalave Library (Pokémon Diamond and Pearl) literally STATES that humans used to marry Pokémon. This was removed in the English translation. Gamefreak, if you wanted us to fuck Pokémon, just say it. Conclusively, Pokemon aren't animals. They are intelligent, with empathy and kindness, and should be treated as equals. Denying them the right to have sex with humans removes their freedom, which is racist, and frankly, unamerican. On this week's edition of the podcast we were delighted to be joined by the K Club's own Liam Grehan on the eve of his first appearance on the Challenge Tour. We have all the latest from the Straffan venue, including a chat with one of the form home players, Gary Hurley. We also recap an eventful weekend for Irish golf as the island secured another Major winner in Darren Clarke, while Royal Dublin's Hugh Foley followed in the Northern Irishman's footsteps with a North-South double on the amateur scene. As ever, we hope you enjoy the listen. Don't forget to subscribe and let us know what you think.

He agreed to come on the show to tell us what it's like to be a puppy raiser, what his responsibilities are, what he's supposed to teach Quaid, and the uphill road it is for Quaid to qualify to be a Service Dog for the blind. Bart is a Belgian living in the Republic of Ireland, while Seamus is a Northern Irishman who lived for 12 years in Belgium (now living in the Washington DC area). His accent is delightful and his story is fascinating. Rick Gehman is joined by Kyle Porter and Greg DuCharme to recap Friday's action at The Country Club. A second round 3-under 67 has catapulted world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler into the co-lead of the 122nd U.S. Open as the afternoon wave is set to begin play. Struggling out of the gates on Friday, the Texan caught fire in the middle of his back nine and played a four-hole stretch in 4 under, punctuated by an eagle on the par-5 14th. Scheffler now finds his name alongside Nick Hardy who has signed for rounds of 69-68. Four other men occupy the top of the leaderboard and have yet to kick off their second rounds, including four-time major champion Rory McIlroy. Hot off the successful defense of his RBC Canadian Open title, the Northern Irishman was nearly flawless en route to what was a bogey-free first round ... through 17 holes. McIlroy will look to push past Scheffler with a strong second round as will those just a few strokes behind. Jon Rahm, Collin Morikawa, Will Zalatoris and Max Homa were all able to play themselves into red figures with their Thursday performances and will hope for more of the same this afternoon. With plenty of action yet to unfold, these titans of the game are sure to make their claim on this championship. --- Check us out on YouTube for video podcasts and exclusive content, visit youtube.com/FirstCutPodcast Get 20% off First Cut merch in the CBS Sports Store: https://store.cbssports.com/collections/first-cut?utm_source=podcast-apple-com&utm_medium=web&utm_campaign=buy-our-merch&utm_content=first-cut-collection 'First Cut' is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Castbox and wherever else you listen to podcasts. A career in journalism outside the game has informed and shaped Eamon Lynch's work within it, making him one of the most important public voices of this modern tumultuous time in golf. In this Masters week Thing About Golf bonus episode, John Huggan sat down with the Northern Irishman at Augusta National to find out about his connections to golf, the modern media and —most importantly — The Masters and what might unfold this week.
Opened in 2013 by Northern Irishmen Sean Muldoon and Jack McGarry, New York City's The Dead Rabbit is surely one of the world's most awarded bars.I can't possibly list all the accolades they've picked up over the years, but they include multiple prizes for World's Best Bar at both the prestigious Spirited Awards and the World's 50 Best Bars. The Dead Rabbit is world famous for its Irish coffee. And this episode you'll hear Sean recount the messy incident that put them on the path to perfecting this somewhat neglected cocktail, further inspired by the legendary bartender Dale DeGroff. You may also like:Wine episodes on Drinks AdventuresAlso with us this episode is The Dead Rabbit beverage director Jillian Vose, who explains how the sous vide cooking technique enables the team to serve the Irish cocktail perfectly and consistently every time. And if like me you're based in Sydney, here's a tip. You can try an Irish coffee that's very similar to the Dead Rabbit's at a bar in the city. Jillian visited the Duke of Clarence a few years ago to show them how it's done, and they've since kept up the tradition.Sean, Jack and Jillian have now published the definitive story of the Irish coffee in a new book titled When Whiskey Met Its Match, which sets the record straight that the cocktail was invented by a Northern Irishman, Joe Sheridan.I hope you enjoy about this chat about one of my favourite cocktails. We also talk a bit about Irish whiskey, and the second Dead Rabbit book launching on February 22, called Paddy Drinks. It's a collection of cocktail recipes that Sean hopes will help fuel Irish whiskey's ascendancy in cocktail bars across the world.
Kenneth Branagh's wonderful BELFAST sees the writer-director (but not actor on this one, as he explains) return to his youth for inspiration, charting a beautiful black-and-white path through the childhood of a young boy growing up in the Northern Irish capital in 1969, just as The Troubles are about to truly erupt, changing the lives of all who lived there for decades to come. In this Empire Podcast interview special, Chris Hewitt sits down on Zoom with his fellow Northern Irishman, Branagh, and they talk about growing up during very different eras, about Branagh's decision to make the movie now, about his creative choices such as going black-and-white and using copious amounts of Van Morrison on the soundtrack, Northern Irish accents and much, much more. The film has been nominated for many BAFTAs and Oscars since, and may well scoop the ultimate prize on the big nights. This fascinating and fun interview may just tell you why, so it might. Wee buns!
The Shotgun Start is off and running in 2022 with this Monday episode. Andy and Brendan review some of their New Year's weekend exploits, and ponder whether the Courier Cup is a better postseason format than the recently maligned CFP. Then they jump into news, which is mostly a discussion about the PIP confusion provoked by Phil Mickelson's tweets and conflicting reports last week. Then they jump into a wide-ranging chat on 2022 -- there was no plan for predictions, because guessing major winners in January is silly, but Andy does go on record doling out a major to a certain Northern Irishman before the segment is over. Other things discussed are the major venues, Lexi going side saddle, a Bryson regression, Tiger thoughts, some potential Pres Cuppers making a leap, and the Billy Ho award for SGS breakout star.

80 years on, Life & Faith charts the ripple effects of a much-loved book. ------ “I got out a yellow pad, cause I'm a lawyer, and I would have two columns – there is a God, there isn't a God; Jesus Christ is God, he isn't God – I went down that, and I went through the whole rational process and I thought to myself wow … I've never gone into a courtroom and argued against a mind like this.” On Wednesday 6 August 1941, a relatively unknown Oxford don fronted up to a microphone at the BBC in London to give the first of a series of talks that would evolve into what is probably one of the most influential books of the 20th century - one which continues to have ripple effects well into the 21st. C. S. Lewis spoke to his fellow citizens, during a time of crisis and hardship, about the nature of reality, morality, human nature, God, and the meaning of life. Later he referred to his account of what he believed as “mere” Christianity - the faith that has been common to Christians everywhere and at all times, explained in ways that stirred people's imaginations and satisfied their intellectual curiosity. Mere Christianity has only grown in popularity, decade after decade, and in this episode of Life & Faith Simon and Natasha hear from a number of people who have loved this book and would even say that it changed their lives. John Lennox - like Lewis, an Oxford don and Northern Irishman - describes what it was like to hear Lewis speak in the flesh. Nixon's “hatchet man”, Chuck Colson, who famously became a Christian just before going to prison over his role in Watergate and devoted his life to prison reform and ministry until his death in 2012, tells his story of transformation. And three young Aussies describe their own encounters with this still compelling book, 80 years on from its first incarnation. “‘A young man who wishes to remain a sound atheist cannot be too careful of his reading.' So yeah, I wasn't very careful. And let this happen … thank God.” ------ Explore: The surviving recording of C. S. Lewis' original broadcast talks Chuck Colson, “How God Turned Around Nixon's Hatchet Man” George Marsden, C. S. Lewis's Mere Christianity: A Biography

First oil for Uganda could be just four years away thanks to Total-led, multi-billion project that has been 15 years in the making. It's all perfectly exemplary and transparent. Or maybe it's “greenwashy” and obfuscating. Could it be both? Decom North Sea has a new boss, one with bags of experience of large-scale platform decommissioning jobs in the, yes, North Sea. It's a match made in heaven surely. But where does play dough fit into the picture? A new approach to project modelling? Surely not. And a company led by a Northern Irishman has removed the nails pinning its feet to the floor and let off steam by swapping a pioneering idea for maximising oil recovery with a far more sensible option. A major champion, more than a dozen tour titles, and a three-time Ryder Cup winner - and those are just the highlights. To borrow the cliché, there isn’t much Graeme McDowell hasn’t done in golf. Now 41, the popular Northern Irishman sat down with me for this episode of the Slam podcast from NCG to discuss growing up in the game, his college career, and why he chose a life in the US over home comforts. And, of course, he gives us a fascinating insight into that US Open win at Pebble Beach as well as the rollercoaster ride that is his Ryder Cup career - from his rocky rookie year to his special bond with Victor Dubuisson. A future Team Europe captain? Don’t bet against it. But there are other goals in his sights before that...

This episode we talk about all of that, his family, and his love for both Rugby and American Football.
Michael and Bryce are joined by Golf Digest’s Brian Wacker to recap a unique Masters Tournament, which ended with Dustin Johnson wearing the item of clothing Rory McIlroy craves more than any other: the green jacket. The guys debate what changes the Northern Irishman has to make in order to finally win at Augusta National… if he ever will. I am privileged to be joined by a guest who enjoyed a phenomenal amateur career and was regarded as one of the best young players in Europe, being such a huge talent at a young age. To give you a sense of his achievements, he was unbeaten in singles matches over 5 years, while representing Wales in the junior home internationals (playing against the best players of England, Scotland and Ireland ) and he was also European Young Masters Champion in 2004, following in the footstep of past winners such as Sergio Garcia! When I saw him play, he was one of the best swingers of the golf club and best ball strikers who I had seen, golfers which included major winners. My guest is of course, Dr Zach Gould PhD! Zach joins me from Cardiff, Wales (UK). What's just as incredible as Zach's fantastic amateur career though, is the path he has been on since, which has led him to where he is now. Former Manchester United goalkeeper Roy Carroll joined the Podcast this week to reflect on his Premier League career. The Northern Irishman spoke about his first days at Old Trafford where he was a little starstruck being introduced to David Beckham, and of his pride at winning the Premier League with Man Utd. He also talked us through the infamous moment against Tottenham Hotspur where he spilled Pedro Mendes' long-range shot and what Sir Alex Ferguson said to him after the final whistle. Roy also opened up about his battle with depression and alcoholism, revealing his agent and family persuaded him to undertake rehab. He went into detail about his struggles and the emotion of coming through that to join Northern Ireland on their exciting Euro 2016 campaign. And now... Carl Frampton MBE Belfast boy and three-time World Champion and the only Northern Irishman to have won World titles in two weight classes. You will struggle to find someone who is as proud to be a Belfast man. As per the Northern Irish humour we of course had to have a bit of a sing song... Family // Soon to be World Champion // Fleetwood Mac // Doing Belfast Proud

NUFC legend Willie McFaul is the subject of this month's episode of Gibbo's Corner. The Northern Irishman played 290 times for NUFC during a nine-year stint and won the Fairs Cup in 1969. He then took charge of United between 1985-88. This is story of how the goalkeeper became a legend at United.
Brendan Rodgers possesses one of the sharpest analytical minds in football, but more than that he is a purist, a devotee of the beautiful game– as demonstrated by the verve with which his high-flying Leicester side plays. As a rookie coach, Brendan had the foresight to regularly visit Spain to soak up the methods employed there – not least because the Spanish had a way of incorporating players of a shorter stature, something the Northern Irishman could relate to!Brendan tells us about working with true greats: Samuel Eto'o was the ultimate winner, Luis Suárez was the ultimate team player. Our latest load of locked down, socially distanced pod sees Chris Hewitt's accent get progressively thicker as he sits down for a chat over Squadcast with fellow Northern Irishman, Michael Smiley. The two of them talk about Smiley's work with Edgar Wright and Ben Wheatley, his Easter egg preferences (it was recorded a while ago!), and his delivery of the best movie line of the year (so far!) in the gory Elijah Wood-starrer, Come To Daddy. Then, in the remotely recorded podbooth, Chris is joined by Helen O'Hara, James Dyer, and Ben Travis for an episode that takes in some incredible film facts, an in-depth discussion of Daniel Day-Lewis' track record, the weekly dollop of film news (including Boba Fett cropping up in The Mandalorian, and the team banging on about Hamilton again), and reviews of Never Rarely Sometimes Always, The Wrong Missy, and Infinite Football. Enjoy.
Hola!Andrea Orlandi will be the next big thing in broadcasting punditry– you heard in here first.I adore listening to his analysis of the beautiful game, skills which were honed when he played at Barcelona observing the talents of the likes of Ronaldinho, Deco and Sergio Busquets. Andrea wants to put the viewer in the boots of the player in a given situation. He wants to you to visualise what goes on in the changing-room, behind the scenes.Andrea's biggest regret was avoiding a meeting with Pep Guardiola when the now-legendary manager took over the Barca B side, but he never rued snubbing a big-money move to Greece for the Roberto Martínez revolution at Swansea City. Despite the initial culture shock in which he had to get changed in the training ground car park, Andrea and Swansea gained promotion to England's top flight under Brendan Rodgers. Andrea gives an amazing insight into why Brendan WILL go on to be a Premier League-winning manager, not least because training is such a joy under the Northern Irishman. He's also brilliant on what makes great punditry and why, and who will win La Liga this season. You will love this interview with this articulate, charming man.Graham See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Rea will go down as one of the greats but is there something he could do to even further how he will be remembered? See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

The guys return to look back over another quiet weekend of football in Glasgow. Both Celtic and Rangers thumped goals past their Premiership opponents at the weekend but that discussion is put on the backburner as they look back on Neil Lennon's men's Romanian calamity. The guys ponder whether next month's derby match could spell the end for the Northern Irishman or whether Celtic could still pull it out the bag. There's also mentions of Daniel Sturridge, Greg Taylor and of course the Tunnock's Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup. The best laid plans of men often go awry, despite meticulous planning and a track record of success. Carl Frampton sounded dialed in, ready to rock, primed to gain a W in a Saturday main event contest to be screened on ESPN+. Then, fate intervened, and dealt him a stiff one on the chin. Er, hand actually... Days before a scrap against Emmanuel Dominguez, the Northern Irishman said a “large ornament” had fallen on his left hand while he was chilling in a Pennsylvania hotel lobby, fracturing his fifth metacarpal. He was sitting..and then boom...a heavy-duty ornament tumbled onto his hand, on Monday. And bang, like that, the plan was busted up. And, he will adapt, as such athletes and warriors and successful folks do. This podcast chat occurred last week, before the hotel incident, so keep that in mind. We will ge an update on Frampton's hand and when he might glove up again. Second on the podcast is host of Ring Walk podcast, Jonathan Leir. Jonathan combines his love of boxing and his powerlifting background to address some of the recent PED issues in the sport.
American opera singer, Tamara Wilson withdrew from her final ever performance of Aida at the weekend. She was scheduled to be conducted by Placido Domingo at the Arena Di Verona but announced on Instagram that her absence was due to illness. But it comes after her public opposition to the use of ‘blackface’ for the role - heavy "chocolate brown" make-up. Tamara speaks out about the incident and why she feels the industry and Aida needs to change. New Zealand writer Fiona Kidman discusses her new novel This Mortal Boy, based on the true story of a young Northern Irishman, Albert Black, who emigrated to Wellington in 1953 to seek work. Just two years later at the age of 20 he was facing the prospect of execution by hanging after an incident in a café that led him to be described as the ‘Jukebox Killer’. Some people just dread Shakespeare; they never 'bond' with him. Sean Allsop has always felt alienated by The Bard whilst simultaneously feeling that maybe he is missing out. So we sent him along to the home of authentic Shakespeare productions - London's Globe Theatre - to ask the experts and find out how a novice should approach Shakespeare for the first time with a production of Henry IV part 1. He may not be as well-known as James Hunt or Nigel Mansell, but for a good period in the late Seventies and early Eighties, after the former had retired and before the latter became a household name, John Watson was Britain’s Grand Prix hero. Over the course of 152 starts, Watson reached the podium 20 times, winning five races – including one from 22nd on the grid! But it wasn’t all roses for the Northern Irishman – over the course of his career he saw many colleagues killed or badly injured, and that’s one of the topics that’s discussed on this fascinating episode of Beyond The Grid, supported by Bose. There are also stories about his recently departed former team mate Niki Lauda, what it felt like to drive the infamous Brabham fan car, winning in F1’s first carbon fibre chassis and much more…

It was a night of mixed emotions at St James' Park last night. After witnessing the fantastic return of Jonas Gutierrez to the Newcastle United first team, the Toon slipped to yet another avoidable defeat.
