Poston het Shriners Hospital for Children Open.

Host Carl Lewis and golf punter Wade Pretorius preview two tournaments this weekend, the Shriners Children's Open & Open de España. The PGA Tour heads to Vegas for the Shriners Hospital for Children Open this week. This event often gets a few bigger names, as the Vegas location makes it somewhat more attractive to the bigger names in golf. The Shriners Hospital for Children Open has a regular cut line of the top 65 players and ties. It's a full-field event with 150-plus players and has quite a bit more talent at the top of the board than last week's field, which had just one player in the top 40 of the OWGR. This week the event features 12 players in the top 50 of the OWGR, with the highest-ranked player being Patrick Cantlay at No. 4. Here's a list of the top 5 players in the OWGR in the Shriners field this week. Patrick Cantlay — 4 Max Homa — 17 Sungjae Im — 19 Tom Kim — 21 Aaron Wise — 36 Other Notables: Si Woo Kim, Garrick Higgo, Rickie Fowler, Alex Noren, Emiliano Grillo Across the pond in Spain, he might have fallen to sixth in the Official World Golf Rankings but former World No.1 Jon Rahm will be the star of the show at this week's Spanish Open in Madrid. The tournament is one of the continent's oldest and has been the site of many historic moments, not the least being Seve Ballesteros' 50th European Tour victory in 1995. His third Spanish Open crown, it was also the legendary Spaniard's last tournament win, in hindsight a fitting end to a stunning career. In recent years the tournament has lost a little of its lustre but there is no questioning its place in history with an honour roll including some of the best to ever play the game. Arnold Palmer, Nick Faldo, Bernhard Langer, Colin Montgomerie, Peter Thomson and Peter Alliss are just a sampling of the former champions and Rahm himself has twice been a winner.

Fall golf is winding down in Canada but the sport rolls on around the world. The includes the PGA TOUR where Sungjae Im recently won at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open and did so with the help of a Canadian caddy. That looper, veteran Billy Spencer, joins us on TeeTalk this week for a wide-ranging discussion. We cover off how he got into caddying, firing players and making transitions to others, the joys and downsides of being a pro caddy, being part of The Olympics, and even some discussion about his beloved Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays. He's a popular guy on Tour and you'll find out why after giving this a listen. In the Week That Was we talk Symetra Tour, the latest exploits of Rickie Fowler, the CJ Cup (is it joining the line-up of world's worst golf trophies?), and a new golf tournament being backed by Geoff Ogilvy in Australia. The Mail Bag has us answering questions about giving golf tips to your father-in-law, PXG golf equipment, and the complications of being a spectator at the 150th Open Championship in St Andrews. In the second segment of this week's show, Host Holly G, and social media expert Will Perry, are joined by Jeff Babineau, Golfweek.  Holly and Jeff start off the segment talking about Rod Pampling's win. His last win was 10 years ago at Bay Hill.  The conversation turns to the wrap around season and how these events in fall can help get some of the players off on the right foot. Players like Keegan Bradley and Glover who have placed in the Top 10 in two events already this season as compared to last year on the PGA Tour. Will asks Jeff about what some of the players are talking about heading into this week's OHL Classic.  Jeff mentions that winning on Tour in the fall is like getting three years of eligibility back. Pampling's win will give him PGA Tour status up until his 50th birthday now and he will be ready for the Champions Tour.  Will asks Jeff about the new era with Jay Monahan becoming the new commissioner. Jeff said Jay is well respected on the Tour and feels he will be able to keep the Tour on the successful track that Tim Finchem (pictured) has built over the past 22 years.  Holly switches gears and asks Jeff about some of the young players on Tour, like Aaron Wise, the 20-year-old from the University of Oregon.  Ryan Moore has been playing well of late. Jeff said that Moore's success at the Ryder Cup seems to have boosted his confidence.  Holly aks Jeff who he likes to win this week at the OHL: Jeff says Jon Rahm, Keegan Bradley or Chris Kirk. In the third segment of the show, Holly G and W Perry talk about the Tour being in Mexico this week and the field of players competing including a contingency of Mexican players who may surprise some people this week. Will knows some of the Mexican players from working around them at the Gary Gilchrist Academy.   Holly welcomes Bob Harig, ESPN.com, to the show. The two talk about this week's field of players. Bob talks to Holly and Will about Jordan Spieth's decision to play less this year after competing in so many events last year against the will of some of his advisors. Bob remembers all the events that Jordan competed in at the beginning of the season last year. With Jordan winning in December, Bob feels that might have thrown off Spieth's thinking that playing so many events might not be that bad.  This year so far, Spieth seems to be keeping more of a domestic schedule and turning down some appearance fees.   Will asks Bob about what he thinks Jordan's schedule will be this year.  Bob said that he doesn't know that all of the traveling and playing that Spieth did last year caused him to not win as much, but it definitely takes a toll on the players and they seem to start to wear down toward the end of the season. Holly asks Bob about the passing of the commissioner's torch from Finchem to Monahan. Bob has an article on ESPN.com about it. (Jay Monahan named fourth PGA Tour commissioner).  The fact that Jay was a tournament director twice helps him transition into the job as opposed to Finchem who had worked with President Carter's administration prior to stepping into the PGA Tour. Bob like John Rahm's chances of winning on the Tour this week. In the final segment of the show, Holly G and W Perry talk about the OHL Classic. Will picks Carlos Ortiz to win and Jim Furyk. Holly is rooting for Keegan Bradley and Emiliano Grillo.  Vartan Kupelian checks in from Scottsdale, Arizona where he is covering the final event in the Charles Schwab Cup Championship on the Champions Tour.  Holly asks about Bernhard Langer's chance of winning an unprecedented 4th time. Vartan talks about the top 5 players chances of winning. Vartan and Holly talk about Tiger and his chances of playing in the Hero World Challenge as well as the outlook for him in the upcoming year.  Vartan wraps up the show picking Joe Durant to win the final event and take home the Charles Schwab Cup title. Durant is in 4th place in the Charles Schwab Cup points and has been playing well.

The duo talk about another young talent who notched his first win on Tour, Cody Gribble won the Sanderson Farms Championship by four strokes.  A quick look around the Tours, Shanshan Feng won in Malaysia on the LPGA Tour. Bob is a long time Cubs fan. Holly asks Bob about Hideki Matsuyama's win and how he has played lately. When Hideki Matsuyama can putt well, he is a force to be reckoned with. He won the Asian Amateur twice. Holly and Bob talked about Hideki taking a backseat to Jordan Spieth and the others who have dominated over the past few years.  Will asks Bob which Major event fits Hideki's game? He is a long hitter off the tee. Bob says that Hideki can win the Open Championship or any of the majors if he could get his putting dialed in. Bob talks about how tough it is coming from Japan and trying to learn the language in the U.S. as well as adapt here is a very tough task for anyone.  Holly asks Bob about Tiger's official announcement that he will play in the Hero World Challenge. Also the two discuss Tiger's chipping issues and whether there is any truth to the rumors.  Bob talks about how so much clamor over Tiger was made officially announced that he was going to play. Everyone expected him to after he said that he would. Tiger still has four more weeks to get ready for the tourney. Bob said that it was a shame that Tiger couldn't play at the Safeway and get all the media attention surrounding his return out of the way.  Bob said to expect a lot out of Tiger's game when he first comes back. It would be silly to expect it. It is going to take some time for him to get comfortable inside the ropes again. Holly and Brendan recap the week in golf including Smylie Kaufman's win at the Shriners Hospital for Children Open in Las Vegas, his first PGA Tour victory. He finished ahead of a portion of the field but his 61 was good enough to hold off the eight players who finished tied for second place. With the win he earns a spot at the Masters in 2016. Jeff Shain, The Island Packet, Prime Sports Network, calls in from South Carolina to talk to Holly and Brendan. Holly asks Jeff about Smylie Kaufman's win. Jeff said Smylie started the day seven shots back before finishing with a 61. Kevin Na finished second again for seven runner up finishes, five have come in the last 20 months. He has also finished third several times in that time frame. Jeff said that Na has become one of the best scramblers and it was odd to see him chunk a shot that kept him out of the winner's circle. Smylie's best friend Patton Kizzire was one of the players who finished second and passed the time with Smylie while other players finished their final round. Jeff talks about Patton's residence at the Sea Island area with other veteran players. Holly asks Jeff about Rickie Fowler's T-25th place finish when he had been playing so well. Jeff is wondering if Rickie's game is built more for the tougher courses and not a birdie fest venue like the Shriners turned out to be. Jeff and Holly discuss the upcoming Tour events including the CIMB Class where players are competing for $1.26 million in Kuala Lumpar, Malaysia. Jeff pointed out that players could actually make a fortnight of it if they also competed in the WGC-HSBC Champions event. If a player chose to do both they wouldn't have to fly all that way for one event. Holly talks to Jeff about the LPGA Tour where Lydia Ko notched her 10th victory over. She already has 10 wins and is only 18-years-old. She finished the tournament with a 9-shot lead over the field. The trio talk about how LPGA Commissioner Mike Whan has really helped move the LPGA in the right direction. The final event of the season for the LPGA is fast approaching, the CME Tour Group Championship is in Naples, Florida Nov. 19-22 and Ko is the defending champion. Terrie Purdum, Southern Golf Central Magazine, which is proudly celebrating 16 years, calls in to talk with Holly G and Brendan about the latest issue of the magazine and the upcoming charity events that the magazine is featuring including the Golf for Hope Tournament (Helping Other People Eat) in January. The fabulous Bella Collina in Montverde, Fla., is featured in the latest issue on line pages 38-39.  Holly welcomes Tony Austin to the show to talk about the recent rules of golf changes. Austin is the Director of Programs for Core Golf Education of at Core Golf Academy and also has his own radio show,Core Golf Radio, Saturday mornings at 9 a.m. on  ESPN radio. Tony and Holly talk about the the USGA and R&A's recent release of the 2016 edition of the Rules of Golf.   Withdrawal of Rule on Ball Moving After Address Limited Exception to Disqualification Penalty for Submission of Incorrect Score Card Modification of Penalty for a Single Impermissible Use of Artificial Devices or Equipment Prohibition on Anchoring the Club While Making a Stroke Holly also asks Tony about some of the rules violation that he sees golfers commit. Provisional Ball -- The provisional ball is designed to help speed up the game. It doesn't apply if the ball went into the hazard. You have to find out if it did go in the water. If you do not and you play a provisional ball you will be penalized. Another rule is the use of the marker, to mark the ball so the player may lift and clean it. One thing he said that golfer's don't always realize is that after they have marked the ball, lifted it and cleaned it, once the ball is placed back on the green it is back in play even if the marker is still behind it.
