Rachel and Erin Alder are a married couple from Seattle. Shortly after they met they became entangled in a situation within AA where their vulnerabilities were being used to control their behavior by a controlling sponsor. In Rachel's case, the vulnerability that was exploited was undiagnosed mental illness, specifically Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. While Erin’s biggest vulnerability became whether the marriage was dependent on continued work with this manipulative group leader. Eventually, Rachel and Erin were able to break free from the exploitation of the invasive sponsor and her high-demand group. They share with Rachel the details of how they were pulled into this controlling situation and describe the fears that kept them there for 7 years. In our third and final episode with Rachel and Erin, they conclude the story of their experiences in a high control AA group. They discuss the difficulties of leaving the group and the after-effects they felt once they finally left it behind. Before You Go: Rachel emphasizes the importance of taking breaks from high control groups. She explains how it gives your mind a chance to reset and gain a new perspective. It's likely that every single human on this planet needs some dose of therapy right now. For some, professional help is necessary. But for many others, it may be as simple as crowdsourcing their therapy. We can all be part of each other's therapeutic regimen if we just slow down, ask better questions, and understand that we can all be part of the bigger solution - at work and everywhere. We hope this week's episode does that, in multiple ways, for you. This week, Erin Hatzikostas and Nicole Licata Grant start by celebrating the b Cause podcast's two-year anniversay! Nicole tells us about her semi-unplanned birthday extravaganza weekend, swimming backstroke through hummus, overshadowing Easter and church visits for delicious Italian market food. Erin gives a quick look into her taxes this year and how her business is fairing, in the spirit of sharing her journey truthfully. Nicole coaches her through it, and they both agree that the investment will certainly pay off one day. This starts a discussion around embarrassment and shame and broader issues of mental health. Nicole mentions that the "coffee talk therapy" is gone from many people's lives now with Covid, and how people are now struggling to put words to their feelings. And with a rise in domestic abuse, gender abuse, and LGBTQ abuse, Nicole has added some links to resources where anyone can go to look for help or peace of mind, or even just a conversation, to help with these difficult times. Erin wants us to slow down and ask more mindful questions. For example, stop asking "How are you today?" and instead ask "How are you on a scale of 1-10?". She thinks the first is an exercise in futility, whereas the second is a great foundation for a conversation and an entry point to help people when they most need it. Nicole thinks the workforce is lacking a culture of accountability lately, with everyone working remotely. While Erin mentions the upcoming talent she thinks companies will face in the near future. Jack Crandall – Brett Randy Anders – Kurt Erin Shaughnessy – John GM – Neil Once they arrive at the outskirts of the village Erin and Randy don’t see anyone or anything moving. Moving up cautiously they see blood in the square and on a few of the cabins so they decide to walk the perimeter to see what they can find. They are able to befriend a dog that was locked in one of the cabins and also find a journal. The journal says that people have been going missing and that two hunters found a “creature” eating one of the missing townsfolk. They move on to another cabin with a barking dog looking for survivors. They dog backs away, growling but they are able to coax it to take some food and back him down. It seems like the dog is protecting the pantry and when Erin opens the door he finds a young girl named Sophia. She wants to know where her mommy and daddy are and says some people went off with Reverend Joaquin into the forest. While Erin makes food Randy heads off to the little church. The chapel itself looks pretty normal but when Randy enters the rectory it looks more like an abattoir then a place of worship. There are parts of different people strewn about the bloodied room. Luckily Randy also finds the Reverend’s journal where he speaks about finding a strange set of bones in the forest. The Reverend comes to a revelation that he must consume the flesh of his congregation to save them. With darkness encroaching Randy and Erin quickly investigate the other cabin and prepare Sophia’s cabin for a siege. https://www.birdscoffeecompany.com/coffees/legends-of-tabletop-legendary-brew Use Code Legends10 to get 10% off your order Theme music created by Brett Miller http://www.brettmillermusic.net/

Its Cinco de Self-Care and in honor of the 5th of May this episode is scratching the surface on the number 5. Whether you're recovering from one to many tequila shots or balancing your chi with bachata, you're going to want to listen. While Erin is far from a mathematician and in fact still can't tell you what PEMDAS stood for, she jumps about of her comfort zone to bring light to the vibrational and frequencies associated with Numerology. Five is the number of humanity and represents the elements of our collective experience. The conversation touches on discovering your birth code, numerical triads and five in the tarot. Jack Crandall – Brett Randy Anders – Kurt Erin Shaughnessy – John GM – Neil Randy and Erin are still at the Duke’s party as Jack makes his way over. They exchange information and Jack suggests putting a go pro in the Duke’s room to see what turns up. Randy grabs a camera from the room and Erin stashes it in a plant, afterwards they go back to their room to sleep. In the morning they head down to breakfast and review the footage from the camera. The Duke leaves quite early in the morning and that’s all they see. Jack tells them about the lake house he saw when he was out with the Countess last night and they decide to check it out. Trying to be inconspicuous, they wander the grounds a little bit before going over to get a closer look at the lake house. Erin notices that it appears someone has knocked off their boots outside the door. The door is locked but Jack tries the window and it opens just enough for Erin to squeeze through. Unfortunately while he’s worming his way in he smashes out one of the panes of glass. While Erin is investigating inside he finds some loose floor boards and evidence that people have gone down. https://squareup.com/store/thing-12-games Use Code Legends10 to get 10% off your order https://www.birdscoffeecompany.com/coffees/legends-of-tabletop-legendary-brew Use Code Legends10 to get 10% off your order Theme music created by Brett Miller http://www.brettmillermusic.net/

My guest today is Erin Weed. After a tragic death of a friend, Erin founded Girls Fight Back! A women’s self-defense and personal safety organization. Erin traveled the U.S. speaking on college campuses and keeping the memory of her murdered friend alive through awareness. Erin wouldn’t consider herself an entrepreneur, but an activist that built a business out of her passion project. During today’s episode, Erin tells me about the growth of Girls Fight Back and how she was able to take the business internationally. She also shares why she made the decision to sell the company and move on to the next stage of her life. Businesses can easily become the cornerstone of someone’s identity or purpose. Erin’s story is a great example of out-growing a business and knowing when to let it go. What you will learn about: Why Erin founded Girls Fight Back. How partnerships with martial art and self-defense programs helped get Erin her audience. The personal effect her friend’s death had on Erin. How Girls Fight Back became international. How Erin structured one of her seminars and presentations. What exactly did Erin sell to her buyer? The danger of letting your business become your identity. The process Erin went through to sell her business. The personal changes she went under during this process. Mistakes that Erin made early on in the business. Erin’s new business Evoso and her DIG process. Erin’s advice to our listeners. What are you passionate about in your life? What social issues ring near and dear to your heart? What if a past tragedy is the exact impetus you need to get your enterprise up and running? Today’s guest shows us exactly how you can be both a social justice warrior and still run a cash-positive business. Erin Weed talks about making a legacy out of her friend’s tragic murder by building a business devoted to helping women live a life without fear where they can defend themselves if necessary and have the tools they need to succeed. What has your business done for others today? Enterprise by Surprise So many entrepreneurs don’t choose this path. Most fall into entrepreneurship by accident. If there’s an exposed market niche or an under-serviced segment, you can bet an entrepreneur will find a way to fulfill that need. One trend we don’t see enough of is businesses that are created to help a social issue or injustice get resolved. Today’s guest did exactly that: created a business to resolve a social injustice (women who live life in fear that they will be attacked and therefore pass on major life opportunities that their male peers do not have to due to considerations of personal safety). In Erin’s own words, “Girls Fight Back gives women’s safety and self defense seminars at high schools and colleges across the world. We also have a product line that all supports that messaging.” So not only did she establish a business that would help thousands of women across the globe, but she also managed to make it a profitable business that could be sold to another like-minded ‘activist entrepreneur’. The lesson here is that you never know who has been affected by a tragedy like yours and who could benefit from your healing process. While Erin has extrapolated this experience and grew beyond her initial need to be
Erin O'Neil explains why she started Broad Conversations, and how she manages depression and anxiety by turning her negative feelings about world events into productive, warm, and encouraging action that inspires other women to do the same. Erin is a great example of "being the change you want to see in the world" - there's a lot of wisdom in her outlook and actions. While Erin didn't start BroadConversations.com with a work focus in mind, her events are instructive on the importance of building networks, learning to trust and use our voices, and how diverse teams can benefit all organizations.
On this episode of Secrets to Real Estate Investing host Holly is joined by Erin Pullins. Erin joins Holly to discuss how she finds her deals in the market where deals aren’t as plentiful as they once were. Erin started her career out of college in financial services, while she did love this field she wanted to have the background because she knew that she didn’t want to do it forever but she did want to learn all that she could. Erin worked in financial services for 8 years before her and her husband had their first child, after their first child was born she went back to work part-time until the couple had their second child. After the birth of their second child Erin found it to be much more difficult to work and take care of the family so she quit her job to take care of the babies. While both her and her husband were working they started buying and renting properties and once her youngest was in preschool they started flipping properties. Both Holly and Erin boast the love that they have for the flexibility that their real estate journey has afforded them. Holly asks Erin to share the story of her first flip. Erin and her husband partnered with someone who had experience for their first flip which Erin says did not go so well. The person that they flipped with was a member that they were in a mastermind group with; in retrospect Erin says that this member was someone that they didn’t know very well and other members also didn’t know this person very well. The deal was structured so that Erin and her husband were to bring in the money for gap funding, the amount of money that the hard money loan does not cover - Erin and her husband brought the money for gap funding. Long story short Erin says that her and her husband lost $50,000 on the deal because the person that they partnered with was getting paid all along the way and was not passing the money down through the partnership. While Erin and her husband did lose a lot of money from this deal they both felt that it was a learning experience and they have not let this happen to them again they also knew that this bad experience would not make them quit because they knew the lifestyle that real estate investing offered was one that they really wanted. Holly reminds listeners of one of her favorite quotes “it’s not you win or lose, it’s you win or learn” because at the end of the day each experience is one to learn from. The next deal that Erin and her husband did was one that came from an agent that they work with a lot and one that they trusted. This deal came to them because the deal was brought to them and it was already ready to go. Holly asks Erin how she finds her deals - Erin says that 50% of them come from realtors and the others still come from the MLS. While neither Erin or her husband are licensed agents they do a lot of the searching on their own and Erin says that she favors Redfin to look for deals because of the way that they lay out the information which Erin feels is much friendlier and easier to read than the MLS. Holly asks Erin what her strategy is when she gets her deals from realtors. Holly says that a lot of time realtors will set investors up on an auto email for deals similar to the ones that are sent to those for people who are looking to own and occupy the home. Holly reminds listeners that this can be frustrating for investors because the realtor often times does not even check out the information that is being sent out on these auto emails. Erin shares that her strategy when working with real estate agents is that she talks to the listing agent. On one property Erin called the listing agent and was told that he couldn’t represent her and connected Erin with a colleague that specialized in working with investors. This agent has now become an agent that Erin and her husband work with often because this agent knows the specifics that they are looking for and sends them exactly what they want which is helpful because ther

What does she have to say about Tasha? And how does she feel about Spencer turning on her after she saved him?
Find Erin here: Website // Facebook // Instagram // Twitter // Pinterest Erin Dollar is the designer and maker behind Cotton & Flax. With a background in fine art printmaking, Erin brings a simple, modern aesthetic vision to Cotton & Flax, which she founded in 2012. After studying fine art printmaking at UC Santa Cruz, Erin continued her studio practice and produced artworks on paper in Portland, Oregon. She began a series of experimental printmaking projects on textiles in 2010, and spent two years refining her aesthetic vision and perfecting printing processes before founding Cotton & Flax as a permanent home for her designs. In today's episode Erin shares her definition of success, her fear about finding fellow handmade shop owners when she moved to Los Angeles, CA, why meeting other small business owners is so important and so much more. "For me feeling successful is feeling like you're moving in the right direction or feeling like you are making progress.
