Psychologist Rolio May said, “Hate is not the opposite of love. Apathy is.” Over the course of the last three episodes, we've discussed how apathy paved the way for a horrific criminal to wreak havoc on the women of Vancouver. Willie Pickton was only allowed to continue his crimes, to rack up the number of bodies he did, because the government and the police didn't do their jobs, were apathetic to the cries for help coming from the downtown eastside. Today, we have finally reached the conclusion to this chilling story. Justice will finally be served, but just a little too late for too many women. Once an avalanche starts, there's nothing that can be done to stop it. You can prevent them, you can prepare for them, but by the time you start to hear the ice cracking, it's almost always too late. The case of Willie Pickton feels a little bit like an avalanche. For the past two episodes, the people in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside have been hearing ominous creaks, trying hard to determine what the cause is. Unfortunately for dozens of women, help wouldn't come in time. When we last left off, Willie Pickton was just starting his reign of terror over the women of the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver. Nancy Clark was missing, along with several other women, whose disappearances would never be solved. The Pickton farm was quickly becoming a criminal headquarters, thanks to Dave Pickton's infatuation with the Hell's Angels gang. The Vancouver Police didn't care. The missing women were sex workers and addicts, and therefore, less worthy of effort. The horror of this story is not only the monstrous actions of Willie Pickton, but also the apathy of the same people that were supposed to protect and serve. In his book, Encyclopedia of Murder and Violent Crime, Eric Hickey wrote about a type of victim that he called, “the Less Dead”. These are people that are seen by the media or law enforcement as having less value than others. Usually sex workers, drug addicts, houseless people, and sexual or racial minorities. The case we're discussing today is about dozens of these types of victims. Women whose disappearances were ignored or were straight up covered up because they happened to be addicts or sex workers. One police officer told a woman's terrified family that the series of missing women were “just junkies and hookers. Don't waste our time.” These were human beings. With friends and families, hopes, dreams, stories, lives. The fact that the authorities ignored their disappearances for so long is one of the worst miscarriages of justice that we've seen in our decades of true crime study. This killer roamed the streets of Vancouver, like a shark swimming among a school of fish, unchecked and under the radar, taking almost 50 lives before anyone stopped him. Sources:Cameron, Stevie. Tonight, we dive into Willie Pickton Part 2. We discuss more missing women, and the Vancouver PD's lack of caring about them. We talk about the RCMP assembling their own version of the Behavioral Science Unit, and how that plan failed. We also discuss 2 people who encountered with Willie Pickton, and lived to tell the tale. We also talk about the infamous bar that Dave Pickton built called Piggy's Palace, and Willie's attempts to reinvent himself. And, we also talk about 2 women who Willie was close to. One, a genuine friend, another, a con artist. So join us as we set the stage for the insane finale of the Willie Pickton saga. Tonight, we start a 3 part series that will wrap up our 6 case Canada Binge, with part one of Willie Pickton, a sick Canadian pig farmer who confessed to killing 49 sex workers, and was also suspected of selling human meat along with the pork that his farm produced, as well as disposing some of it at a rendering plant, that meant that human flesh was in various products that use processed food. In this episode, we discuss Willie's horrific upbringing, and warning signs that there was a serial killer in the making. We also start discussing how indigenous women in Canada were considered less important by the police, which we'll cover at length in part 2. Willie is believed to be Canada's worst serial killer. He was only convicted of 6 murders, but he was charged with 20 more, and there were lots more who disappeared from Vancouver's Downtown East Side during that time frame. So, get ready. This case is a big one. Instagram Facebook Twitter(X) YouTube Website
Today, we're continuing the Canada Binge with a crazy story from Nova Scotia. We extended the Canada Binge by one more week before we get to Willie Pickton. This week, we're covering the Marriotts and Melvins feud. Its Canada's modern day drug fueled version of the Hatfields and McCoys. The 2 families were both drug dealers, and they didn't like each other. That's basically it, although the story is crazy, and its directly tied to the Quebec Biker War. It ends with most of the key players either dead or in prison. These families have been compared to the real life Trailer Park Boys, which is actually filmed in Nova Scotia. Joining us on this episode is Morgan Rector of Human Monsters. He was a great guest, and he provided insight on some of the geography of the story. So, join us, and get ready because next week, we'll be doing Willie Pickton part 1...If I don't find another crazy Canadian story. This week, Kelsie walks us through the case of Willie Pickton, known as the biggest serial killer Canada has ever seen. Having grown up on a pig farm, Willie Pickton was no stranger to the world of farming, slaughtering and butchering. Neglected since he was born, Willie lived in utter filth while forced to work on the farm in between classes at school. When his parents passed away, the farm was left to Willie, his brother and his sister. His sister helped run the business from several towns away, and now that the Pickton brothers had full control of the farm, all hell broke loose. This week we will be releasing the entire Patreon Willy Pickton series to bring awarness in this MMIW crisis. May 5th is National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Native Women and Girls. We hope you enjoy the extended episode. At least 65 women disappeared from Vancouver's Downtown Eastside between 1978 and 2001. A man known as Willie Pickton owned and operated a pig farm in nearby Port Coquitlam during this time. He was eventually charged with the murder of 26 women however he claimed the number was closer to 50. This monster was convinced on 6 charges and sentenced to life in prison. While in prison Willie wrote a manuscript that was later sent to a publisher who titled the book “Pickton In his own words”. Willie's farm became the largest crime scene Canada has ever seen, and led to the largest serial killer investigation in the history of the country. During this investigation the public became aware of a larger issue that has been plaguing Canada; The issue of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls. A government inquiry later concluded that “blatant failures” by police was a large factor. Including prejudice against sex workers, sex trade, the homeless, and racism against indigenous women led to a massive tragedy. Please don't forget to check out our new merch store at https://indigenoustales.threadless.com/ Merch store- https://indigenoustales.threadless.com/Email us at info@behillnetwork.com Also check out our Instagram -https://www.instagram.com/indigenous_tales/And our TikTok -https://www.tiktok.com/@indigenous_talesAmanda Bland Dallas area Bakeryinstagram - https://www.instagram.com/cupidsweetsbakes/Cupid Sweets- https://www.facebook.com/cupidsweets

This is not a drill... THIS IS A FULL ASS T-Rex Episode and there are sooooo many triggers! Now that that's out of the way. Let me just say, this is the hardest episode in the series about Willie Pickton. In this episode we discuss Project Evenhanded doing the damn thing. Don Adams, Dana Lillies, and our boy Nathan Wells are the main characters. I do read from the book, 'On the Farm' by Stevie Cameron. She does an amazing job detailing every aspect of this case. Also, in this episode, we dive deep in the interrogation, the cell plant, and what was found from February 2002 to September of 2002. Honestly, I couldn't handle much more. We'll wrap this all up in Part 5, and then focus on each victim, or as much as we can on each victim. P.S. listen to the end, Paige helps bring us back to neutral after a full ass T-Rex episode. Life on the farm brings home values of hard work and accomplishment. In this episode, however, this is not the case. This is the story of Robert "Willie" Pickton, Canada's most infamous serial killer, who two-timed making an honest living with meeting his own sinister urges. As always with this case, ALL THE TRIGGERS!!! All them... just know that before going into it. If you haven't already, go listen to parts 1 & 2. You'll get a more broad picture of what is actually happening... but if you haven't guessed, the VPD is still ignoring the issue, ol wee Willie is still abducting and murdering women, and the families are continuing to be traumatized by all of it. On a good note, Project Even Handed is brought into existence and does the damn thing. They do their research, they broaden their search on the actual number of women associated with one particular set of disappearances, and they reach out to the families. Are they perfect, nope, but it seems like Don Adam (head of the task force) actually gives a damn. Ohhh and then we get to meet, our boy Constable Nathan Wells. Just know, we love him. Anyway, he is the reason Project Evenhanded got into the door and Willie was taken down. As always, have a fan-fucking-tastic week! First of all, all the triggers... It's Willie Pickton, I feel like that's an unnecessary warning. In this full-ass T-Rex episode, we dive into the ridiculousness that is the Vancouver Police Departments inability to admit there was in fact a serial killer... this is an obvious theme. We meet some badasses, some complete asshats, and we learn more women went missing under the VPD's nose. We learn about a fraction of the numerous individuals who knew about what Willie was doing, who did absolutely nothing to help. I hope you enjoy the ending, because Paige did an amazing job at returning us back to neutral. As always, have a fan-fucking-tastic week, my lovely bishes! First off... All the Triggers on Part 1 on, this case is horrendous, but it's important to learn from the past. I hope Vancouver PD learned... and decided to actually care about others. In Part 1, we discuss Willie's child hood leading up to the mid to late 90's. This episode is not quite a full T-Rex, but there are some full T-Rex parts. Willie Pickton is most likely the richest serial killer in history. He made millions from his pig farm, real estate deals & a wild social club. However, Pickton is better known for murdering a suspected 50 women, mixing in his victims' body parts with pig meat, & disturbing it to the public.Social Media: @killerjobspodPatreon: https://www.patreon.com/killerjobsMerchandise: https://killerjobspodcast.threadless.com( 100% of all money from the show’s Patreon & merchandise sales are donated to the St. Louis Crisis Nursery, in addition to a monthly donation from advertising revenue. https://www.crisisnurserykids.org )

Hannibal's Horny Hibachi is a weekly podcast where JJ, Celeste, and Sonya discuss an episode of the Bryan Fuller tv show Hannibal. This week the girls celebrate their 30th episode with a really sound dodgy episode! We apologize for the sound quality! This episode focuses on Primavera. JJ and Celeste discuss their love for Abagail while Sonya gives in to peer pressure. This week's Under the Table True Crime segment is dedicated to the brave, selfless, and amazing Lorimer Shenher: the Vancouver police officer who tried to bring Willie Pickton to justice YEARS before he was eventually arrested.
On the third part to our series we cover the multiple times in which Willie Pickton could have been caught in the late nineties, including an attempted murder, a witnessed murder, and an attempted murder-for-hire, plus Henry gets deeper on the Vancouver clone conspiracy.
This week, the gals discuss a few “Lucky Bastards” (i.e. Creeps who got away with murder for wayyy too long), including Robert "Killed 'Em All" Durst, Willie Pickton of Piggy Palace infamy, and, of course, Herman Mudgett (aka Leonardo DiCaprio) (aka HH Holmes). By popular demand, for this episode we’ve selected a bottle of 19 Crimes Red Blend out of Australia. We hear this wine pairs beautifully with Long Pig (aka “The Other Other White Meat”). Um, maybe don’t Google that.

This week, we take a look at Canadian pig farmer and serial killer Robert “Willie” Pickton and his killing spree in which he raped and murdered prostitutes [...]
