Welcome back to Geeking Out Loud!   On our twentieth episode of Season 2, Maria talks about something very important that deserves to be talked about more, the situation in Venezuela and what we can do to help. We’ve talked about Venezuela’s poor management on the show before, but today’s focus being out #MusicMonday show of the week, is actually one of the initiatives to help get the country on its feet.  Sir Richard Branson has scheduled a concert called Venezuela Aid Live, and its goal is to raise $100million for food and supplies for the country in crisis. The event will be held on February 22 in Cucuta, Colombia. It will also be live-streamed. The two biggest awards of the night went to This is America, by Childish Gambino for Best Record or the Year, and Golden Hour by Kacey Musgraves for Best Album of the Year. This is America also won Best Music Video during the pre-ceremony, and Golden Hour won Best Country Album during the ceremony too.  But guys, there’s actually so much to talk about! We were blessed with a duet from Miley Cyrus and Shawn Mendes, and also Michelle Obama’s presence. Our girl Lady Gaga performed a solo performance of Shallow, and took home a couple awards too. The self titled album has the second spot on album sales on iTunes, following The Greatest Showman. Shawn’s new LP marks his transition from being a teenager into becoming a man, an adult. His groovy vibe, charm, and warm vocals are still there; this is still the same Shawn we all love and respect, just a little bit more mature. Songs like “In My Blood”, “Nervous”, “When You’re Ready”, “Youth”, and “Fallin’ All in You”, definitely showcase Shawn’s new techniques and vibe, also his musical influences.  The most beautiful part of the album is the fact that every word that Shawn sings is believable, just like all his other albums. On today's episode Maria talks about Apex Predator and Stupid With Love, two songs from Mean Girls: The Musical. The new songs feature Barrett Wilbert Weed as Janis Sarkisian, and Erika Henningsen as our protagonist Cady Heron.  Mean Girls is a movie that came out in 2004 and it became part of pop culture. For example, everyone knows that “On Wednesdays we wear pink.” The musical opened April 8th 2018, and it’s written by Tina Fey, the composer is Fey’s husband, Jeff Richmond, and the lyricist is Nell Benjamin. Hi guys, it's the twenty fourth episode!  SAY WHAAAAT?! Welcome back to Geeking Out Loud! On today's episode Maria talks about Rampage, the new movie starring The Rock, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Naomie Harris, Breanne Hill, Malin Akerman, and Joe Manganiello. The story talks about Davis Okoye, played by Dwayne Johnson. Okoye is a primatologist who keeps his distance from people, but when it comes to animals, he’s always all in. Davis shares a bond with George, a really smart and very rare albino silverback gorilla who has been in his care since Davis rescued him. So what’s the problem? Well, a rogue genetic experiment accidentally mutated George and it turned him into a raging creature that it's actually very huge. But that’s not it, there are other animals who were infected by this experiment as well. So what can go wrong, right?  The movie was directed by Brad Peyton, and that totally makes sense. Peyton was the director of San Andreas, and both movies, Rampage and San Andreas, are very similar when it comes to their style and humor. Also they both share Johnson as the lead. The Rock keeps getting better and better as an actor, and we’re so excited to talk about it during our FilmFriday episode!
