Min 5: AÚN ESTOY AQUI ¿LA TAPADA DE LOS OSCAR? CALIFICACIÓN EDC: 4 estrellas Min 13: THE MONKEY.

In this penultimate episode of The Pod Charles Cinecast, your hosts Jonathan Foster and Fil Freitas are back with a Brucie Bonus, as we see the return of BRUCE WILLS US – the bonus series where we occasionally dip into the films of Bruce Willis. With Christmas nearly here, we'd figure we'd dip into one of Bruno's most magical movies, that would be a sure-fire holiday classic had it been set in December, DISNEY'S THE KID (2000). Bruce Willis plays a self-absorbed 40-year-old image consultant who is mysteriously confronted by the eight-year-old version of himself (Spencer Breslin), and is forced to confront the traumas of his past to become a better man. The film features a nice supporting cast of Emily Mortimer, Lily Tomlin, Chi McBride and Jean Smart. It's a pretty wholesome family film, that shows a really sweet side to Bruce, but there is a bit of a "time travel" twist that if you think about too much, makes absolutely no sense. Also, deep inside the film contains a pretty strong man going through therapy and confronting his inner child theme; something that didn't get much play back in those days. So of course we loved it. So, even though it's not a Christmas movie, we think it has enough magic to play this time of year. Give it a spin, and meet us on the airwaves for one last normal episode... Next Week is the end, and it will be a doozy. "Aww, somebody call the waahmbulance!"For full listings and tickets visit: princecharlescinema.com  If you enjoy the podcast, leave a Rating and Review! Hey everyone, welcome back to another review and today, we'll be discussing the sequel to one of the most consistent franchises in films right now. Paddington and Paddington 2 are both some of the best family movies of the last decade. The thought of doing a third film is definitely terrifying because of how it could affect this franchise's track record but also because Paul King wasn't coming back for this third entry, although he still has a story credit. He went off to work in the Chocolate Factory. As I'm now studying in the UK, I had the chance to see Paddington in Peru. Does this movie cement the Paddington trilogy as one of the best of all-time or is the absence of Paul King felt? This week's Empire Podcast isn't so much jam-packed as marmaladen with great guests, as Chris Hewitt talks to Paddington In Peru stars Hugh Bonneville and Emily Mortimer (the new Mrs. Brown) about tarantulas, Paddington tantrums, and shooting in the wilds of Basingstoke [20:47 - 35:27 approx]; the great British director Andrea Arnold about her new film, Bird, working with non-actors, and shooting in Gravesend [51:56 - 1:07:39 approx]; and Agatha All Along showrunner Jac Schaeffer, in an extended excerpt from our spoiler special interview, about [SPOILER], [BIGGER SPOILER] and shooting in [SPOILER]. Listen to that one only once you've seen Agatha All Along, naturally. [1:34:29 - 1:50:10 approx] Then, Chris is joined in the podbooth by Helen O'Hara, James Dyer, and Alex Godfrey for a merry old show in which they break down their viewing habits, discuss the week's movie news (and yes, this was recorded before the news broke about Simon Kinberg writing a new Star Wars trilogy; we'll discuss that next week), and review Paddington In Peru, Blitz, Bird, Piece By Piece, and Red One. Orange you glad you picked this episode? Enjoy.

Ah, we're back. We're back in Scotland. I don't remember it being so "blue". Not only that, it's really dark, and moderately attractive men are acting like right twats to very attractive ladies. We're back on the "Ewan Train" with David Mackenzie's YOUNG ADAM. The "erotic" (?) drama about a bunch of folk on a barge and the lives Ewan McGregor's character basically ruins for the sake of creative inspiration. Yeah, doesn't make the most endearing of central characters but that's kinda the point. The one thing we did agree upon at least was the inclusion of custard. More custard, please! There's a bunch of sex in this but it's not as central as you'd think it would be. It just IS, so strap in, we've got a fair amount of stuff to talk about on this one.

Joining me, Kelly-Anne Taylor, this week is the writer, director and actor, Dolly Wells. She grew up off of Kensington High Street in London – the youngest of six children. Aged 18 – she discovered that her stepfather was actually her biological father – the great comic actor, John Wells. In her 20s, Dolly worked as an actress – but also as a photographer's assistant, she had a stall in Portobello Market and wrote book reviews for the express. It was only when she had her daughter in her 30s that she really decided to go for it. Since then, she's made her mark – and there seems to be very little that she can't do. She's played a vampire-hunting nun in Steven Moffat's Dracula, a woman locked in a basement with David Tennant in Inside Man and an incompetent assistant in the Sky comedy Doll & Em (which, she co-wrote with her best friend, the actress, Emily Mortimer). Now, she turns her hand to directing BBC3's A Good Girl's Guide to Murder – which follows a bright-eyed, precocious teenager Pip (who decides to investigate the unsolved murder of a schoolgirl. In this episode, we talk about the beauty of ageing, her life-changing friendship with Emily Mortimer, and how female directors are changing the industry. Learn more about your ad choices. The GBGBs are back in Gosling's Garden to watch the 2007 indie comedy, Lars and the Real Girl! This movie stars our friend the Gosman as Lars, a shy yet kindhearted fellow who lives with his brother (Paul Schneider) and sister-in-law (Emily Mortimer). Things take a turn when Lars begins a romantic relationship with an anatomically correct sex doll named Bianca. Lars's community then decides to go along with his delusion in hopes that he will find the connections that he needs.    This movie was an unexpectedly emotional ride for the GBGBs. No car chases, no song and dance numbers, just some good ole fashion acting in this here film. What? Were you expecting some kind of bit in this description? We don't have to do those every time you know. Sometimes we can just describe the movie we liked okay? Give us a break, and you know what? Give yourself a break too, you're too hard on yourself and you deserve some credit.    Thanks for stopping by!

I've known Emily Mortimer since she was six. Her parents were close friends—John, a playwright and barrister, and Penny, a fly fisher and tennis player, who managed the no small feat of smoking while playing the game. What Emily does now is impressive—she's an actor, a writer, and director, known for such films as Notting Hill, The Pursuit of Love, Newsroom, Match Point, and Apple TV's latest, The New Look, with Juliette Binoche. Not that she has only worked onscreen. Emily was one of the first employees of the River Cafe, back in 1989 when being 17 and totally inexperienced was no obstacle to being a waiter. Together in The River Cafe today we're going to talk about food, memories and cooking a goose while studying in Russia.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This week, we're closing out an unsuccessful hunt with a movie about a man with no name, no identity, no family, and no reason to really be too interested in him as the main character of a film. Yes, it's 1997's The Saint, directed once again by Phillip Noyce, and starring Val Kilmer, Elisabeth Shue, Rade Serbedzija, Henry Goodman, Alun Armstrong, Valeri Nikolaev, Charlotte Cornwell and Emily Mortimer. It's a movie that pairs up a man with no inner life and a woman with no self-esteem as our action-thriller romantic leads, and despite everything working against them in this script, Kilmer and Shue still manage to be quite charming. It's a merciful end to Come On Feel The Noyce, as we're finally done with Phil's films, going out on a movie that could very well make podcast history as the first film to be denied entry in its bid to join the ADHD-DVD canonical classics. Plus: we go deep on the annoying discourse that dominated the week, as Barbie is slighted by the Oscars by only being nominated for 8 including Best Picture, while Tenet finally gets granted a theatrical re-release, and previous pod fodder The Accountant has an unlikely sequel on the way. Other works discussed in this episode include I.S.S., Paul Thomas Anderson's filmography (particularly Hard Eight, Boogie Nights, Magnolia, Licorice Pizza), and all the movies Oscar actually snubbed, like Past Lives, The Holdovers, Asteroid City, May-December, and The Iron Claw. Oh, and Men. Alex Garland's MEN. Coming up next month on the show, February Is For Lovers, and we will be treating it as such, as the four Fridays in Feb will see us cover Richard Linklater's Before Sunrise, Before Sunset and Before Midnight, before a month full of romance ends with canon consideration of Leslye Headland's modern rom-com classic Sleeping With Other People. Until then, we'll see you at the movies!! #HillaryBarbie

No one knows Margo's real name. Her colleagues and patrons at a small-town public library only know her middle-aged normalcy, congeniality, and charm. They have no reason to suspect that she is, in fact, a former nurse with a trail of countless premature deaths in her wake. She has turned a new page, so to speak, and the library is her sanctuary, a place to quell old urges. That is, at least, until Patricia, a recent graduate and failed novelist, joins the library staff. Patricia quickly notices Margo's subtly sinister edge, and watches her carefully. When a patron's death in the library bathroom gives her a hint of Margo's mysterious past, Patricia can't resist digging deeper--even as this new fixation becomes all-consuming. Superman and Lois Lane have been cast, Marvel backs out of SDCC, and Spider-verse wins the week but at a cost

Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universes In a headline-gripping move from James Gunn, actors David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan have been cast to lead his Superman: Legacy project. The new Clark Kent and Lois Lane have some heavy lifting to do after fan-favorite Henry Cavill is no longer part of the future DCU. However, with this film slated to be the first official film under Gunn and Peter Safran's leadership, expectations are sky high. (Pun intended.) In a rather shocking move, this year Marvel, Netflix, Sony, HBO, and Universal are all declining to host big presentations at this year's San Diego Comic-con. There are many reasons motivating the departures, Chiefly the uncertainty due to the writer's strike. Amid newer movies debuting at the box office, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is still webbing up huge numbers, crossing $500 million at the global box office and reclaiming the number one spot. This news is coupled by an article from last week citing more than 100 of the artists who worked on the movie left due to unrealistic expectations, working conditions, low pay, and micromanagement. After a huge rebrand and launch of their streaming service, Warner Bros. Discovery is negotiating a $500 million deal to sell nearly half of its film, tv, and music publishing assets for around $500 million. This seems like an odd way to gain consumer confidence after just launching the MAX brand for streaming. What's up, Warner Bros.? Marvel's newest television property, Secret Invasion, landed on Disney+ last Wednesday. The show quickly garnered praise, but also severe backlash when it was announced that the opening credits were generated by artificial intelligence. Director Ali Selim confirmed the news, but stated that he believed the AI-generated opening sequence helps better capture the themes of the show. While this caused a lot of hubbub on the internet, the artists hired also confirmed they utilized AI to meet the show's creative demands. AppleTV+ dropped the official trailer for “The Beanie Bubble,” a film starring Zach Galifianakis and Elizabeth Banks telling the story of the Beanie Baby phenomenon of the mid-1990s. The film is set to debut on July 28. Sony has removed the Bad Bunny-helmed, spider-man spinoff, El Muerto from their calendar of future films Justin Roiland, who was recently let go from his voice acting duties on Rick and Morty, has also been replaced as the voice of Korvo on Hulu's Solar Opposites. It was reported that the soon-to-be famous motorcycle stunt from the upcoming movie Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part 1 was filmed on the first day of shooting in the event that Tom Cruise died during the stunt. Netflix is revising how it reports its top 10 rankings by providing an estimated viewership for weekly charts and extending the time of measurement from 28 days to 91 days. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever star Tenoch Huerta has exited the upcoming Netflix project Fiesta en la Madriguera after a sexual assault claim was made against him. Sony dropped the trailer for Dumb Money, a film that will tell the story of the GameStop stock value shenanigans that took place in January 2021. Nick Offerman, Pete Davidson, America Ferrera, Paul Dano, Sebastian Stan, and more are set to star. Prosecutors have accused Rust armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed of tampering with evidence by handing off drugs to another person on set on the day of the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Casino Royale director Martin Campbell revealed in an interview with Express UK that Henry Cavill had a tremendous audition for the role of James Bond and would have been cast if Daniel Craig “didn't exist.” Paddington in Peru, the third Paddington Bear movie, will begin filming next month and several stars are in talks to be part of the cast including Antonio Banderas, Olivia Colman, Emily Mortimer, and Rachel Zegler.

Indie writer-director Nicole Holofcener's observational comedies eschew high-concept hooks in favor of burrowing deeply into a theme from many different angles. Her new YOU HURT MY FEELINGS spells out its intersecting thematic interests right there in the title — criticism, insecurity, and the need for validation — and reminded us of the multigenerational study in low self-esteem that is LOVELY & AMAZING. So we're revisiting Holofcener's prickly 2001 film to consider the many ways in which the Marks women, played by Brenda Blethyn, Catherine Keener, Emily Mortimer, and Raven Goodwin, reinforce each other's insecurities, and how Holofcener coaxes such light comedy out of such weighty themes. And in Feedback, a listener brings up a missing piece from our recent discussion of ARE YOU THERE GOD? IT'S ME, MARGARET. Welcome back to Not A Bomb Podcast, the show where we go back and reexamine some of the biggest bombs in cinematic history. The theme for this month is all about prestige films, movies that bombed at the box office but also won multiple academy awards. This gives Troy and Brad a reason to talk about one of the greatest directors of all time - Martin Scorsese. As a bonus, Troy and Brad share their top three Scorsese films and talk about the relevancy of the academy award ceremony.Timestamps: Intro - (2:10), Academy Awards Talk - (5:40), Box Office Results and Critical Response - (16:07), Behind the Camera - (23:45), In Front of the Camera - (37:43), Production, Development and Historical Accuracies - (48:13), Commerical Break - (53:19), Hugo Discussion - (55:19), Is it a Bomb? - (90:32), Listener Feedback - (91:32), and Outro - (102:44)Hugo is directed by Martin Scorsese and stars Ben Kingsley, Sacha Baron Cohen, Asa Butterfield, Chloe Grace Moretz, Emily Mortimer, and Jude Law. From Bryan: I saw this in the theater five times when it came out. I can't think of a leaner, tighter action/thriller. This movie isn't that old, so why doesn't anyone talk about it? It's a masterful film by a confident filmmaker at the true top of their game. It's time to recognize this movie as one of the best from this century so far.
