So the Halloween Boutique Psychotronic Reviews podcast decided to do an episode on the 2009 movie WATCHMEN but our discussion went a bit long as we discussed the background to the movie, and its source material. So we decided to break it into two episodes. The second is all about the movie itself.Directed by Zack Snyder, written by David Hayter and Alex Tse, and starring Malin Akerman, Billy Crudup, Matthew Good, Jackie Earle Haley, Patrick Wilson, Carla Gugino, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, was not the success that the studio had hoped. With the usual debate between the fans of the graphic novel and superheroes in general, backlash and praise were both the norm. Now fifteen years later, the movie has become somewhat of a cult classic. With its fabulous special effects, splendid acting, and changes to the story to make it fit within a movie length, the film, though polarizing, continues to find audiences through streaming. Your cohosts take a look at the film itself and give their thoughts.

It is a privilege to welcome actor, filmmaker, and producer Michael Nardelli to The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast. Michael made his professional acting debut as Stradivarius Helberg on the TV show Quintuplets. He then co-starred in the independent film The Derby Stallion opposite Zac Efron and the comedy Grassroots with Jason Biggs. Soon after, Michael portrayed a lovesick teenager in the 3-D horror film The Collective. He also had recurring roles on TV series such as American Crime Story: The People versus OJ Simpson, Hart of Dixie, My Name is Earl, Nashville, and Revenge. When Michael is not on television, he is behind the camera. As an independent film producer, Michael produced the Sundance Film Festival Award-winning Another Happy Day, which starred Demi Moore, Ezra Miller, and Kate Bosworth and the Tribeca Film Festival selected The Giant Mechanical Man, which starred Jenna Fischer, Topher Grace, Malin Akerman, and Bob Odenkirk. Michael Nardelli became a household name when he produced and starred as Eric in the 2015 Netflix science fiction horror film CIRCLE. Co-starring Julie Benz and Carter Jenkins, the film is a bizarre mashup of 12 Angry Men and The Twilight Zone, where a room full of 50 strangers realize they control who will be the ultimate survivor. The high-stakes setup of the game within the film led to a heated cross-section discourse of the human conditions and all the hot-button issues dominating the early twenty-first century headlines. CIRCLE was screened at the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con and Savannah Film Festival, and the 2015 Seattle International Film Festival highlighted the film as a part of its Catalyst program, highlighting exciting new filmmakers. In 2019, Michael produced and starred in Amazon Prime Video's Dark/Web. The series focused on a genius programmer's mysterious disappearance, which led to the reunion of old friends. The discovery of strange stories she left behind may indicate an impending technological crisis. The series earned three Emmy Award nominations. On this episode of The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Michael Nardelli spoke about the upcoming sequel of CIRCLE and being Emmy-nominated for Dark/Web.Let's connect on social media! Today, I welcome Malin Akerman into the hot seat. Not only has this fearless beauty starred in countless blockbuster films like WATCHMEN, 27 DRESSES, and RAMPAGE, she also has explored- and conquered- the indie film world and is now producing her own content. But how did this modern-day movie star really get her start? In this episode, we pull back the curtain on what it's like to go from- within a year- being broke and sleeping on a futon while fronting a rock band, to booking a series regular role on HBO's The Comeback. Find out how she handled being asked to improvise on the spot in a chemistry read with Ben Stiller (for the lead in the Farrelly Brother's THE HEARTBREAK KID) and her fight to be considered for deeper, more nuanced roles like Annie, a woman with alopecia in HAPPY THANK YOU MORE PLEASE and Lara, a strong mother amidst the chaos in HBO's BILLIONS. Couples Retreat is a 2009 Romantic Comedy directed by Peter Billingsly. This is the story of Dave played by Vince Vaughn and his wife Ronnie played by Malin Akerman. Dave and Ronnie are a typical married couple raising two young boys in the suburbs of Chicago, kinda in the whirlwind of parenthood and life. They have a few friends, Joey and Lucy played by Jon Favreau and Kristin Davis who have actually already agreed to separate… just… nobody knows that yet. Shane and Trudy played by Faizon Love and Kali Hawk who are polar opposites, Shane is in his 40's, Trudy is 20… that's basically all you need to know, and then there's Jason and Cynthia Smith played by Jason Bateman and Kristen Bell. Jason and Cynthia have been struggling with infertility and because of that, their marriage has been struggling and with that… they have convinced the entire friend group to take a couples retreat to the island of Eden to rediscover themselves… and their marriages.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
It's time to dive into a summer classic… Couples Retreat! Jeni and Megan discuss all of the stars, including Vince Vaughn, Kristen Bell, Malin Akerman, Jason Bateman, and more! We come to this place for magic, and what's more magical than a breathy-voiced Nicole Kidman going up against alien spores with nothing but a handgun and a montage of unexpected high paced action sequences? Nothing, friends. The answer is nothing! Ok, well… a lot. Still, when you're talking about an overlooked and relatively obscure mid-2000's attempt at action-horror film such as 2007's The Invasion, there's plenty of nonsense for Troy and Roger to discuss! From a charming, yet severely underutilized Daniel Craig, to an even more underutilized blink and you'll miss her appearance from a young Malin Akerman, to a surprise cameo appearance from none other than Nicole Kidman's nipples clear as day through a white T-shirt, how could these gays resist taking off on yet another out of this world review for this week's episode! Micha

I sat down with both producers to see how they are doing what they are doing, how they ramped up so fast and how they are making money with there system. Enjoy my conversation with Jason Armstrong and Rob Goodrich.

It's time to fangirl with KB because the one and only Malin Akerman is on the pod! She's starred in so many of our favorite movies and Malin is not holding back today as she talks about her first impressions of fellow A-listers, her worst and strangest acting gigs (including one that features a merkin), and what she would relive if she could go back in time. Plus, she's sharing who she gets starstruck by (stars… they're just like us!), what Paul Rudd is like behind the scenes (#hallpass), and everything that went into filming her upcoming role for psychological thriller, The Aviary (trust us, you're going to want to watch this when it comes out Friday). And of course, both Kaitlyn & Malin are sharing confessions; Malin's hilllllarious confession that takes place in a field somewhere in Canada is one KB can definitely relate to. Malin Akerman & Lorenza Izzo recently joined host Elias in the cave for Press Day for the upcoming release of 'The Aviary' on April 29th in Theaters, Digital and VOD. We enjoyed watching an early release here at the "cave" cant wait for everyone to check it out! The Aviary - Malin Akerman and Chris Messina star in the twisted journey of two women's desperate flee to escape the clutches of Skylight, an insidious cult. Lured in by the promise of "freedom" in the isolated desert campus called "The Aviary", Jillian (Akerman) and Blair (Lorenzo Izzo) join forces to escape in hopes of real freedom. Consumed by fear and paranoia, they can't shake the feeling that they are being followed by the cult's leader, Seth (Messina), a man as seductive as he is controlling. The more distance the pair gains from the cult, the more Seth holds control of their minds. With supplies dwindling and their senses failing, Jillian and Blair are faced with a horrifying question: how do you run from an enemy who lives inside your head? Nicol Paone a long time friend of Stamie and Tracy's is back. Nicol is a very talented writer, director, comic and improv pro. We start off by discussing Nicol's eyebrows, or the time she had them removed by a make up artist on a shoot who happened to be on meth!! How she got her movie "Friendsgiving" off the ground with the help of Ben Stiller's company and how she got 8 bad ass lezbos to be in her movie! Did I mention Malin Akerman and Kat Dennings also star along side some kick ass dudes including my fave Dean Cole from "Blackish". Stamie starts the interview solo until a comment about having children triggers our Sharon Houston to pick up the mic. Tracy joins and we discuss their hometown of New Jersey and why Philly is better (Obviously, Stamie wrote this who is from Philly) We laugh a lot, make note of the airplanes flying above, complain about LA and losing one of our famous car wash. Oh yeah, we discuss Nicol's fluid ways and how often she likes to clean her palette. As always, thank you for listening and would love to hear your thoughts. Do it, it will make you feel good. Also, if you comment and review and we will read them during our next episode. How exciting!!!! Once deemed "unfilmable", Zack Snyder attempted to do the impossible with 2009's Watchmen, and in our opinion he did a phenomenal job.
