PATREON MOVIE DISCUSSION: This movie was selected by our Patreon Supporters over at the Cinematic Doctrine Patreon. Support as little as $3 a month and have your voice heard!Shirleon & Melvin wish you a Merry Christmas while discussing a Family-friendly biblical musical, Journey to Bethlehem! The story is simple - a dramatization of the birth of King Jesus - but what about the music? And more importantly, how is it as a biblical adaptation? Tune in to find out!Topics: (PATREON EXCLUSIVE) 23-minutes discussing Shirleon & Melvin reflecting on the movies they've discussed through 2024, whether they have any new feelings about them, and the experience of improving one's critical thinking. (PATREON EXCLUSIVE)Spoilers are truly irrelevant for discussing the adaption of the immaculate conception and birth of King Jesus, so Shirleon and Melvin kick things off strong talking about everything.Shirleon was moved by two songs: Mother To A Savior And King & In My Blood.Melvin felt it wasn't really his thing, and the whole of the project felt largely forgettable.Discussing how virtually every musical number could be removed because they weren't integrated into the plot or pacing of the film.Shirleon & Melvin disagree on some things, and the two go back and forth.Talking Lacrae as the angel Gabriel. Or, as Melvin calls it, "Lacrangel".Is the song Mary's Getting Married supposed to be a Feminist or Trad Wife anthem? It's messaging is unclear. No matter how minimal, Melvin never overcame a perpetual unease over the film's alterations of the biblical account.Recommendations: One by One by Ruth Ware (2021) (Book)The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley (2020) (Book)Top of the Morning Coffee (Blueberry Blast, specifically)Terrifier 2 (2022) (Movie)MAILBAG: Send questions with your first name and we'll answer them in future episodes! Unlike a traditional story where fathers, grandfathers, mothers, and grandmothers handed down generations of stories, hunting locations and secret spots, techniques, ethics, ethos, and even weapons, Blood Origins Founder Robbie Kröger's story is a little different. He had everything of the hunting life given to him, all but the personal experience of it. He was surrounded by the tools, the trophies, the stories, and even a letter from his grandfather telling him that the hunt was “In My Blood.”  Born and raised in South Africa, conservation and hunting was in his blood, but access to it was a dream. Now a proud American and avid hunter and conservationist, and with a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from Ole Miss, Robbie created Blood Origins, a global non-profit whose mission is to convey the truth about hunting and conservation to the non-hunting majority. Sheep Fever Co-Host Gray N. Thornton visits with Robbie on his vision for Blood Origins, its messaging, its impact, and most important, how Blood Origins and Robbie's voice can move the needle to ensure our hunting heritage remains not only in our blood, but as a pursuit, passion, and privilege all can enjoy if we choose.

We're now spoken to Georgia Fields twice on MMO - and in this second chat we were lucky enough to also feature some new music, with Georgia's permission, pieces from her new songs "How A Girl Becomes A Puddle", "In My Blood" and "Find Your Way Back". In addition to working as a self-managed artist for over a decade and raising two children, in recent times musician & songwriter Georgia Fields has launched a new online community called Mother Lode – a space to support and connect working mums in the Australian music industry, and a way to work collectively to encourage structural changes that will make the industry more accessible for mothers. She is absolutely speaking, and playing, our language! Georgia's professional life as an independent musician, songwriter, and arranger based in Melbourne, Australia positions her perfectly to connect communities of like minded and diverse people. In this chat we ask her about her own career, but also her aspirations for improving and expanding the industry. Part 2 of 2 - Dr. Marcus Curcija continues the discussion with Jane Vadiveloo, Founding CEO and William Tilmouth, Founding Chair of Children's Ground. Jane and William have worked together for over 15 years, culminating in the foundation and direction of Children's Ground. Children's Ground is an organisation led by Aboriginal communities, creating a new future for children filled with promise, justice, hope and empowerment. Children's Ground works with children, families and communities that face the greatest exclusion and live with injustice and disadvantage every single day. We unpack how Stakeholder Engagement and Corporate Social Responsibility can empower First Nations people and ensure that the economic, cultural, and social justice first nations people is upheld and promoted. William Tilmouth was born in Mparntwe (Alice Springs) and is an Arrernte man. A member of the stolen generations, William was taken to Croker Island where he lived and attended school with many other children sent there as a result of Government policy of that era. Insight Into Impact connected with Children's Ground after watching In My Blood it Runs. A documentary which arose from the work and families who lead Children's Ground. The documentary follows the story of ten-year-old Dujuan, a child-healer, a good hunter and speaker of three languages. As Dujuan shares his wisdom of history and the complex world around him, the audience witness his spark and intelligence. Yet Dujuan is ‘failing' in school and facing increasing scrutiny from welfare and the police. As he travels perilously close to incarceration, his family fights to give him a strong Arrernte education alongside his western education lest he becomes another statistic. His grandmothers lead Children's Ground and key advisors to the film include the Chair, CEO and cultural leaders of Children's Ground. We encourage you to follow the link below and watch the documentary. We also encourage you to follow the work on Children's Ground and learn how you can support both these organisations. "Zauvek more", (Laguna, 2013), 9., 11. & 1. poglavlje Tri žene. Jedan muškarac. Ljubomora. I ljubav, duboka i snažna kao more. Posle velikog uspeha romana Svakoga dana, svakoga časa, Nataša Dragnić nam donosi poetičnu, uzbudljivu i duboku priču. Baš kao što je i more. Dirljiva ljubavna pripovest, genijalno konstruisana, uzbudljivo ispričana, puna čarobnih trenutaka i poezije – a ujedno i porodična priča koja će nas ganuti do suza! https://www.laguna.rs/n2284_knjiga_zauvek_more_laguna.html *Musik: "It feels so right" (Album "Promises", 2014), Künstler: In My Blood

"Svaki dan, svaki sat" (Fraktura, 2012), 16., 18. & 19. poglavlje Makarska, šezdesetih godina. Sve počinje novom novcatom torbom. Ima bijele i plave pruge te žutu ribu u sredini, a pripada Dori, koja upravo kreće u vrtić. Luka još nikad nije vidio ništa tako lijepo! Petogodišnjak je toliko očaran njome da zaboravi disati, te se onesvijesti. Dora ga poljupcem budi i oni postaju nerazdvojni – sve do jednoga rujanskog dana nekoliko godina poslije, kad se Dora s roditeljima odseli u Pariz. In this edition, I had a pleasure in catching up with an old friend of mine and that is Miranda Allen. We met way before I went to Merrimack or even when we were both applying for colleges. She is an aspiring filmmaker, writer, director, and producer. Miranda is a Senior at Ithaca College majoring in Film & Cinematography. She’s also made her mark so far by directing and writing her short film ‘In My Blood’ which received positive reviews, especially selected at a few local film festivals. She’s currently the founder of Mutant Kid Creatives and also founded Neverland Natives Productions. Miranda pushed herself on so many levels and I’m so proud of the incredible work she’s made especially as a creator. Because, women today are making big strives in the entertainment industry, especially with storytellers who wanted their stories to be heard and breaking the barrier by paving the way for other girls who really aspire to be themselves in the work force. One day, when she makes a big move in Los Angeles directing big-name motion pictures, everybody is gonna remember her name. Hope you enjoy this episode! KB Boyce is the Co-Founder and Director of Queer Rebels, a Queer People of Color arts company that connects generations – and honors our queer legacies with visionary art for the future. Musician and media artist KB Boyce is a Gender Non Conforming / trans masculine performer whose adventures have brought them from teenage punk band appearances at CBGBs in NY, to B-grade horror movies in LA, and on to solo blues performance as The Drag King of the Blues in San Francisco. Boyce composes and performs music that pays homage to African-American and Indigenous legacies of resistance through art. Boyce conjures the spirit of cross-dressing Blues performers – reflecting the history, creativity, and aesthetics of the ancestors. Crystal Mason co-founded and co-directed Luna Sea Women's Performance Space. They are the former Executive Director of the Jon Sims Center for the Arts. They lived in Berlin, Germany for 9 years, where they co-owned and operated Schoko Café, a women's art and culture center. Their last project in Berlin was a two-year long European Union funded film project dealing with multi- dimensional discrimination faced by lesbians of color and immigrant lesbians in Berlin. In San Francisco, Crystal was an AIDS activist and organizer working with ACT UP and the San Francisco AIDS Foundation in the Women's and Children's Program. Crystal was also a regular behind the scenes and in front of the camera on Electric City Queer TV for several years. They co-produced the multimedia theater piece Hey, Sailor and created 3 short films: In My Blood, I Know My Soul, and In My Own Hands. In 2016 Crystal created a multimedia performance/installation at Fort Mason as part of the THIS IS WHAT I Want Festival 2016 called There is No Other, Fractured And Complete, Tell Me Something True. They have been a Queer Rebels Board Member since 2012 and is now the Managing Director at Queer Rebels Productions. Episode Highlights KB tells about how the Queer Rebel Festival first began in San Francisco in 2008 as a way to create a space for centering queer/trans people of color (QT POC) artists. KB & Crystal share about their own backgrounds in art and activism. KB group up in a New York family of artists, performers and activists. Why Sharing Imperfect Work is a Good Thing – Episode 074

Design Speaks

This week we wanted to talk about why it's a good thing to share your imperfect work. Thanks for joining us! Featured Music: The Civil Wars - "Billie Jean" Shawn Mendez - "In My Blood" [clear-line] Inspirations, Thoughts, & What We've Been Up T0 Sharing your imperfect work and the benefits of doing so. But before we get into that we talk about Brandi’s week where she took a trip to Cancun for her mother-in-law’s wedding. She also shares about her experience at a Michael Jackson tribute show, and her song this week goes right along with that as it is Billy Jean by the Civil Wars. We hear all about Michelle getting into the Christmas spirit as she got her Christmas tree and found a new great Christmas movie on Netflix, however, she is not listening to just Christmas music as she brings In my Blood by Shawn Mendes which is a pop song Brandi has heard. Shocker! Then we jump into the topic this week, which is the benefits of showing your progress even if it may be imperfect. It can be a sign of relief seeing that another designer's sketches are as rough as your’s may be. Brandi also encourages the listeners that it’s okay if in the early stages of your design process look awful. Your sketches should only be for you in your process. And your sketches are a great roadmap to see how you got to your final design. It can also be really fun for your followers to see behind the scenes of your work, to see how you got to your final result. However, we also discuss the question of if there is ever a time when someone should not share their imperfect work. Brandi encourages listeners to maybe plan posts accordingly so as to not give your client a panic attack because of what you may do in your process make sure that you share what your client is okay with you sharing. Don’t release branding they aren’t ready to release, but never be afraid to share bits of your process just because it isn’t “perfect”. THANKS FOR THE FEEDBACK!!!! "Because... I really needed it. I am a mom of 2 girls and a wife. I was a graphic designer 20 years ago. I drifted away from it to do other things. Became a wife, a mom, a stay at home Home Schooler Mom. Found out that Pricate school is a better fit for our family and came back to design with a born again love for Adobe Photoshop. I was searching for a good podcast about design and randomly found you. God Moment. Thank you for being there."  - Krista's Design on iTunes     Find us on all forms of social media via @BrandiSea on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and you can email us any burning questions you want Brandi to answer on an episode at brandi@brandisea.com. THANK YOU to the ultra-talented  Vesperteen (Colin Rigsby) for letting us use his (“Shatter in The Night”) track in every episode of Design Speaks.     [clear-line][clear-line] Transcription: Michelle: This week we will be talking about sharing your imperfect work and the benefits of doing so. Side note, Brandi is tired this week because she just got back from vacation and vacation tires you out? B: Specifically travel tires you out. Luging around your luggage, anxiety from flying. All of it just wears you out. M: So since we’re on the subject of your recent travel should we jump into your week? B: Sure, so I guess it’s been 2 weeks since last week we had a sabbatical week. Which I wanted to clarify the sabbatical week with you guys. So we don’t burn out since we are sticking to this thing for the long haul. M: Yeah, we decided we are recording 6 episodes, and on the 7th we will record either a short episode or a fun little blurb of something or we do a throwback episode, and this last week we did a throwback. B: Yeah, it’s a chance for us to just take some time off, for Joelle not to have to type show notes, and for us not having to record a full episode. And this is a Sean Wes thing. He started doing what we are doing, taking every 7th week off,

In My Blood is the title of chef Bo Bech’s stunning and singular new book, and it’s an apt description of the man himself. Bo sat down with Andrew this week to discuss his book, which tells the story—in words, watercolors, photographs, and recipes—of his Copenhagen restaurant Geist. The interview is as unique as the man and his book, full of culinary and philosophical revelations, vivid descriptions, passion—plus an examination of the life lessons of the Rumble in the Jungle. The Unbearable Lightness of Being Hungry

"The most interesting place in Europe to eat” – that's how Noma's René Redzepi described Bo Bech's first restaurant, Paustian. The Copenhagen venue was located in the last building Jørn Utzon ever designed – and the Sydney Opera House architect was one of Bech's regular diners. (You need to hear the story behind the dish that Bech created for Utzon, which the chef talks about near the end of the podcast.) "When I stepped into the kitchen at the age of 24, my world flipped." Bech became a chef at a relatively late age – enduring terrible food during a peacekeeping mission inspired him to improve on what was available. To convince a bank manager to loan him the money to launch Paustian, he had to revert to some pretty unusual means (it did involve food, though). Paustian is the focus of Bech's first self-published book, What Does Memory Taste Like (which features a signature avocado dish that gets 80-something pages of coverage). His second restaurant, Geist, is more accessible in style – the type of place that Bech would want to be a frequent customer. It's covered in In My Blood, his new book, which is like an autobiography of the restaurant. It features architect's drawings and furniture sketches among the 100 recipes. It also covers rage and other inspirations behind his food (like his lifelong battles against endives and salmon). We also chat about his recent dinner collaboration with Lennox Hastie and his favourite places to eat in Copenhagen. You can find In My Blood at chefbobech.com.

Hi guys, it's the twenty eighth episode!  OMG! Welcome back to Geeking Out Loud! On today's episode Maria talks about Shawn Mendes’ new album. The self titled album has the second spot on album sales on iTunes, following The Greatest Showman. Shawn’s new LP marks his transition from being a teenager into becoming a man, an adult. His groovy vibe, charm, and warm vocals are still there; this is still the same Shawn we all love and respect, just a little bit more mature. Songs like “In My Blood”, “Nervous”, “When You’re Ready”, “Youth”, and “Fallin’ All in You”, definitely showcase Shawn’s new techniques and vibe, also his musical influences.  The most beautiful part of the album is the fact that every word that Shawn sings is believable, just like all his other albums. However, when it comes to the change in the censorship of his relationships and heartbreaks, it makes total sense that he's more experienced and open, because Shawn’s becoming a different, more rounded person, both personally and professionally.  Let’s talk about Shawn Mendes’ new album, shall we? We have a lot to say and geek out!  Song: Ikson - Heartbeat (Vlog No Copyright Music)

Hi guys, it's the fifteenth episode!  YAY! Welcome back to Geeking Out Loud! On today's episode Maria talks about Shawn Mendes’ new singles, In My Blood and Lost in Japan. In My Blood is definitely in the genre of arena rock, while Lost in Japan sounds more groovy, R&B, and very funky. These two tracks are very different in both feel and lyrical content, In My Blood explores Shawn's personal experience dealing with anxiety, and Lost in Japan shares a very flirty and playful side of him. This is exactly what takes Maria’s excitement to the next level. Shawn Mendes’ new music sounds more mature, but it still feels very Shawn. He keeps the honest and organic qualities that we love in his music very much on his sleeves.  We still have to wait for Shawn Mendes' new LP, but he was sweet enough to drop In My Blood and Lost in Japan one after the other. Let’s dissect them, shall we? Song: Ikson - Heartbeat (Vlog No Copyright Music) Music promoted by Vlog No Copyright Music. Video Link: https://youtu.be/YQjlxD0IbtA
