Check out my onboarding templates and processes: CLICK HERE!In today’s episode, you will learn about 7 different types of clients that you should definitely avoid. Most people think “Oh I’ll just take every client, I can handle it”. Well, I have to say from my experience, that's not always the case. Some clients make your life so much worse, and no amount of money can make up for it. Today I’ll go over the top 7 types of clients that I’ve dealt with over the years. And also how to deal with these client types.Listen in to discover what different types of clients are out there and who you should steer clear of. And how to deal with them if you’re already stuck with them! What you will learn:[1:16] Client Type Number 1: Ms. Perfect - She knows everything, she’s a jack of all trades and most importantly...will NOT let you do your job![2:26] How To Deal With Ms. Perfect - Let her join the team, and understand why she has a layer of mistrust.[4:00] Client Type Number 2: Mr. Entitled - He thinks he’s entitled to ALL of your time, regardless of if he’s paying it or not.[5:03] How To Deal With Mr. Entitled - You have to use crystal clear communication![5:42] Client Type Number 3: Mr. Unrealistic - You all know this one, he’s the one that expects you to grow his Instagram to over 10k overnight, all for the lowest price possible.[6:12] How To Deal With Mr. Unrealistic - You have to have a CLEAR scope of work in your contract. You will get taken advantage of the second your contract becomes vague and open-ended.[6:55] Client Type Number 4: Ms. Invisible - This one will become a ghost the second you need something from them. They will be unavailable for weeks and then come back to you asking why the project is taking so long.[7:30] How To Deal With Ms. Invisible - You need to establish a STRONG communication plan. Make sure you go over WHERE and WHEN you'll communicate.[8:44] Client Type Number 5: Mr. No - He will consistently tell you that your idea won’t work for his business. No matter what you try to do, you will only get one response back: no.[9:13] How To Deal With Mr. No - Instead of proposing one of your ideas, simply lead him to come to the conclusion himself.[10:15] Client Type Number 6: Mr. Indecisive - This one is pretty self-explanatory, he will always be unsure. Or worse, he will approve a project and then come back saying he doesn’t like the idea anymore.[11:05] How To Deal With Mr. Indecisive - Give him the minimum information that is required to make a decision. This might seem straight-forward but the more information and data that is given to him will result in him shutting down or closing up.[11:44] Client Type Number 7: Ms. Blemish - This one you’ll get bad vibes with BUT she will convince you that this time will be different. But unless you wanna go through the same pain of firing this client over and over again, you should probably take a pass on this client![12:38] How To Deal With Ms. Blemish - The contract is the most important thing when it comes to this client. You need airtight clauses for the scope of work and deliverability. You don’t want anything falling through the cracks with this one![13:15] How to avoid clients that you need to fire altogether!LETS CONNECTInstagramStay At Home ProfitFreebiesRoadmap to 5k MonthsCheck out my LIVE Training happening this week!Linksaprilwilhelm.c

Topics Discussed and Key Points:Melissa’s journey from virtual assistant to online business managerThe differences between a virtual assistant and an online business managerVirtual Assistants vs. Executive Virtual AssistantsHow important is it to be a “certified” OBM?Episode Summary:In this episode, April speaks with certified online business manager Melissa Gamarra on the topic of systems and processes. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a solopreneur, small business owner, or an employee with a vested interest in scaling your company—having systems and processes in place is an absolute must. This is where VAs and OBMs become valuable additions to the company.Melissa shares her experience in remote work, comparing the general virtual assistant to a “corporate front desk office person”, while the online business manager plays a role closer to a COO. This means that an OBM is expected to be a hands-on leader with a close relationship to the business owner. The OBM is essentially a confidant that the owner turns to for operational advice. Melissa adds that, while a VA’s only role is to fulfill tasks in a specific area (ex. bookkeeping, graphic design, etc.), an OBM “sits at the head of the table” to bring clarity, make operations leaner, and help the business scale. In short, a VA is an “employee” while an OBM is a “partner”.April and Melissa also talk about the “middle ground” role of Executive Virtual Assistants. April refers to herself as an EVA because, while she isn’t a certified OBM, she is qualified to work with clients in ways that go beyond the task-driven setup of a regular virtual assistant. Finally, Melissa encourages aspiring business managers to not get caught up in the certification process. While becoming certified is highly advantageous—you will be listed on the official OBM directory, among other things—it is just as (if not more) important to nurture the skills and experiences you need to perform your job well. It is one thing to be certified; it is another to confidently and transparently tell your clients exactly what to expect from working with you.Meet Melissa:https://www.melissagamarramanagement.com/IG: @melissagamarramanagementConnect with April WilhelmInstagram: @itsaprilwilhelmStay At Home ProfitFreebiesRoadmap to 5k MonthsVA Secrets (Masterclass)Linksaprilwilhelm.comstayathomeprofit.com/Academy
Topics Discussed and Key Points:Maggie’s personal experience with burnoutBecoming aware of stressors to nip burnout in the budHow to move forward once you recover from burnoutSigns that you may be going through burnoutEpisode Summary:In this episode, April speaks with business and marketing strategist Maggie Giele. Maggie relates her experience with burnout, which overcame her 18 months after she started her business. This was a wake-up call that took Maggie almost five months to recover from (following burnout, she would feel severe dizziness after walking for only ten minutes). Maggie attributes her burnout to impatience—frustration from a lack of results after investing almost two years of time, money, and energy into her new business.Maggie shares her past insecurities and struggles as she navigated the corporate world, seemingly unable to find a job where she would fit in. It was those early challenges that motivated her to become her own boss. However, her insecurities found their way into this new decision in the form of a desire for perfection: Maggie would attend every webinar and download every free report she could get her hands on, and hold off on releasing content for long periods of time. In fact, at one point, she had 55 unpublished blog posts that she just could not bring herself to put out there. After Maggie experienced burnout, she made it a point to reevaluate how she could change her attitude towards building her business moving forward. She realized that she needed to shift her focus away from quantity (i.e. number of leads) and towards quality (i.e. those few clients that are worth investing time and energy in the most). When asked for indicators that one may be experiencing burnout, Maggie says that she personally experienced forgetfulness, tiredness, anxiety, and generally feeling unhappy throughout the day. However, she hastens to say that symptoms of burnout vary depending on the person and their individual experiences and stressors. Her best advice is to seek help from a medical professional if you believe you are experiencing early signs of burnout.Want to know more about Maggie Giele?Instagram: @maggiegielewww.maggiegiele.com/Connect with April WilhelmInstagram: @itsaprilwilhelmStay At Home ProfitFreebiesRoadmap to 5k MonthsVA Secrets (Masterclass)Linksaprilwilhelm.comstayathomeprofit.com/Academy
