In 1988 no one ever suspected a young man named Mick Foley would be one of the greatest pro wrestlers in history. However, by 1998 the world totally realized he was special. After spending years wrestling around the world in the scariest of hardcore matches — including everything from barbed wire to flaming 2X4s — the beloved veteran captured the hearts of wrestling fans around the world. In fact, his popularity soared so much that he was voted Time Magazine Man of the Year in 1998 by WWE fans who flooded the voting. Time Magazine actually disqualified Foley because they didn't feel a pro wrestler deserved such an honor. Foley responds to that in this interview.
Interview with Michael Cole: S5E12Pennsylvania born and raised. Mike always knew he wanted to stay in PA. and as the youngest child he also found his passion for competitiveness. These two things gave him the opportunity to thrive in wrestling and to go to college locally. He attended Clarion University where he received his Bachelors and his MBA. While at Clarion he was 2X All-American and made it to the Olympic trials' finals. When it was time to hang up the wrestling shoes, Mike went into the corporate world. He had a plan though. Mike always knew he wanted to follow in the path of the many coaches that he learned from and admired. At the end of his business career, Mike retired as the Managing Director of Technology at Morgan Stanley. While others think of hobbies, he knew exactly what was next.Mike is now the Head wrestling coach at Bethlehem HS, where he was given the award as Coach of the Year.During my research on Michael Cole, I came upon an article and saw a quote that every new leader can learn from. This is when he started his high school coaching."My idea is, I'm not going to change anything until I learn everything that is going on".Great advice.Email:michaeljcole142@gmail.comEric Reyes: Host of Hey Coach! Rosemary Linden more than earned her stripes in FP&A over twenty years. Her roles included VP FP&A at Alliant Insurance Services. Director of Global FP&A at WD-40 Company and at Solera. But after two decades in corporate finance she moved to being a fractional CFO serving small businesses (typical annual revenue of around $10million) managing an assortment of responsibilities. This episode is for anyone in finance who may be looking to escape the corporate grind and set up as a Fractional CFO. But Linden warns it is not for everyone. “One of the first things I'd say to think about is, do you really want to be a fractional CFO? Because that's different from being a full-time CFO at one particular company and comes with its own challenges.” In this episode: Moving from corporate finance after 20 years to dealing with “astute” small business owners as a fractional CFO in San Diego Why FP&A is an ideal training ground to become a CFO Secrets for telling a good story Getting to what you want the people in a room to “walk away knowing” Cash flows at small companies, opportunities and challenges Dealing with seasonal variances at small businesses Advice for starting your own business as a fractional CFO Moving to a more analytical mindset Difference between, strategic planning and financial planning (Case Study San Diego Civic Youth Ballet) My most dangerous deep sea dive, being team Excel and Ruth Bader Ginsburg Follow Rosemary Linden on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/rosemarylinden/

We The Sales Engineers: A Resource for Sales Engineers, by Sales Engineers
Engineers are not usually known as creative types. This is a strange notion for me as I think engineers are some of the most creative people. We might not be creating art (although some engineers are artists), but we are being creative in solving a set of problems. The problem is it doesn't show to the outside world. But there are ways to do so, and Melanie Flores, my guest for this week found out that she can do it through Solution Engineering. It's not just about solving a problem creatively. It's about telling stories and asking questions where creativity can shine while being in an Engineering field. show notes: https://wethesalesengineers.com/show306
