It's been unseasonably hot over the last few days across much of the UK. Extreme heat means extra concerns for livestock farmers. The Irish government has issued guidance advising farmers not to transport animals in the hottest part of the day, and vets and farmers will be looking out for symptoms of heat stress in all livestock. We visit a dairy farmer in Cumbria to find out how his herd is faring.Farmers in the east of England say they'll have to start reviewing the way they plant crops after one of their driest Aprils on record. Crops already planted are struggling and this current hot spell is making matters worse. We visit an arable farmer in Lincolnshire whose crops are suffering because of the weather.All week we are looking at local food systems - alternatives to big supply chains and supermarkets. Lauriston agro-ecology farm, just north of Edinburgh, covers a hundred acres and is run by a workers' cooperative. It describes itself as an urban farm growing food for people and wildlife and claims to be Scotland's largest community supported agricultural enterprise. I dont know what's in the water down there but there has to be something that connects why the French are just so damn good at this style of music. Yōli who originally discovered the music of Soudiere back in 2019 fell in love with the sound and began producing it. From there he's become a key player in the scene helped develop the more euphoric and classic side of the Phonk sound. His recent album release MOMENTUM is a perfect demonstration of how much substance this genre can hold, smacking you in the chest plate with that low end and upfront percussion but also in the feels with them orchestral & complex symphonies. Anyway it is an honour to present to you his guest mix and to be able to sit down and chat with him and share his words on the sound. Worse, enough mandatory fees have been collected from consumers to recycle 100% of the materials, but only a fraction of this work is actually being done. Ontario's recycling regulator is finally taking action, issuing penalties to the companies collecting the recycling fees, but in turn these companies are using these mandatory fees, paid by Ontarians to fund recycling programs, to cover the fines. The result? Ontario consumers are enriching unscrupulous industry participants and American recyclers, undermining recycling, job creation, and investment in Ontario. It's time for real accountability in the recycling industry. And so coming up with weird, unique, wacky ways to connect with them and get their attention and then pitch them on whatever it is you're trying to sell them on or get them to do, is key. That's how Leslie anything done in her office, catering to people's unique personalities and being weird and being herself.
