As entrepreneurs, we pour ourselves into building these amazing businesses, the last thing we'd ever consider is shutting them down, especially when they're doing well. Why would we choose to walk away from something that's actually working?   Well…that's where Krista Lockwood found herself. After building a 6 figure business over the last 5 years, she has decided to sell it and move on.   Our kids change as they grow, and so do we. What lit us up before might not be right for us now, and that's okay.   How did Krista make this huge decision? How do we deal with the guilt and uncertainty that comes with making a big move?   In this episode, founder of Motherhood Simplified, Krista Lockwood returns to talk about the new chapter in her journey, walking away from a perfectly good business and why it's important to align your career moves with your current life phase.   Your business deserves to be loved as opposed to being run by somebody who just isn't excited about it anymore. -Dana Malstaff   3 Things You'll Learn in This Episode   -How to know it's time to pivot Most people would rather stick with a successful business even if it's no longer making them happy. How do we know it's time to stop doing something even if it's going well?   -Stop feeling guilty about change Why is it important to make sure your work fits with your family life? How can you handle changes without feeling guilty or worried?   -How to avoid the temptation to keep scaling How do we check in with ourselves so that we can move on from the business before we start neglecting the community we've built?    Guest Bio Krista Lockwood, the founder of Motherhood Simplified, is a mom who has successfully decluttered her entire home. She doesn't teach decluttering in theory. Instead, she shares practical tips and strategies that have worked for thousands of other moms. Krista's approach is grounded in her own experiences, ensuring that she never asks you to do something in your home that she hasn't done herself. Her mission is to help moms find the sweet spot of having enough but not too much, allowing them to feel less stressed in their homes. The journey of growing our businesses is anything but a straight line. We evolve, change our minds, and things shift in our worlds. We'll go through stages of figuring things out, reworking things and pivoting and that's totally okay! That journey builds up a toolkit that makes our communities stronger.   How do we figure out if we're in the right niche and talking to the right people? How do we stop feeling bad about pivoting and moving into new ideas?   In this episode, returning guest and founder of Motherhood Simplified, Krista Lockwood returns to give us a peek into her evolution and share why it's okay for our ideas to change.   A teacher doesn't share with you as they are learning. Feeling stuck is a good indicator that something needs to be released from your life. Yet when it regularly feels like the chaos of running kids, making sure they're fed and bathed while also taking care of the household and your relationship with your spouse (and hopefully even yourself) dictates your life, it may make the thought of letting go of anything seem impossible. Which is why it's essential to carve out time in your schedule to actually focus on the task of letting go. In this episode, you'll learn:Why releasing is essential to your action-taking natureHow to know when it's time to release somethingWhat a releasing ritual isHow to create your own releasing ritualIn your life releasing might look like getting rid of physical things that are cluttering up your home environment or digital clutter on your device or in your inbox, or it might look like mental clutter that's taking up precious real estate in your big beautiful mind. Just like physical clutter can make you feel more chaotic, stressed or contracted, mental and emotional clutter can do the same. You don't have to live with the mental and emotional clutter anymore. And when you are able to let go of whatever is stuck in your brain, you experience freedom and flow...and it's beautiful!A releasing ritual or ceremony helps you place intention around whatever it is you want or need to let go of in life. Resources:Daily Rhythms TrackerHow We Feel App (Android)How We Feel App (iPhone)Sun Salutation Guided Downloadable VideoGrab the full show notes and resources at www.cairnyogawellness.com/podcast82 and subscribe and listen wherever you catch your podcasts:

Full moon time is an ideal time to begin clearing out the clutter in your life; and there just so happens to be one tomorrow!  With the holidays just over, you've likely got even more stuff now than you did before and you're trying to figure out where it's all going to go. But perhaps organization is what is needed, perhaps it's actually time to say goodbye to some of the things in your life that you really don't need taking up space or creating stagnant energy in your life and keeping you stuck or feeling overwhelmed.Everything holds energy--inanimate and animate--and all energy has the potential to affect you. And when you fill the space of your home, desk, car, and life with physical things, all that energy impacts your mental and emotional health. But you likely may not even realize that until you begin to clear out the physical. It's when you begin to clear out the physical clutter in your life, that the space to begin examining your inner clutter begins to reveal itself. Krista Lockwood is a decluttering expert. Today we have Krista Lockwood back on the show because we can't talk about consumerism without talking about waste. The reason this is so important to talk about is because even though we may have the best intentions, the hard truth is that our recycling and donating efforts aren't enough to offset the sheer amount of waste we produce! We end up pushing off our discarded stuff onto third world countries, and most makes its way to the landfill. And if we can get a better understanding of how much waste we produce and where that waste is actually going, hopefully we'll be more motivated to consume less in the first place. To connect with Krista, follow her on social at:@motherhood_simplifiedMS groupTo check out her course and website, go to: https://motherhoodsimplified.comFor more Socially Misguided, follow on IG @sociallymisguidedpodcastAlso, if you know someone you feel would be an amazing guest for our show, please DM me or shoot us an email at sociallymisguidedpocast@gmail.com!

Decluttering can be daunting for gifted people, but it is doable. You don't need to exhaust yourself. Make use of the free blocks of time in a day, and little by little, let go of things that no longer serve you in your current moment.   Join me in this episode of Someone Gets Me ▶️ How to Declutter Your Home and Your Life with Krista Lockwood.  Key point covered in this episode:  ✔️ Before she became a decluttering supermom, Krista literally packed her whole life's belongings (and her young family with three kids) into suitcases when she had to make a major move from Alaska to Florida. She describes it as a "purge" that has been the most challenging and life-changing. ✔️ Everybody has different clutter thresholds of what they can manage and what inspires them. Krista has helped thousands of other moms transform chaotic homes into an abode of peace and calm with doable tips and mindset. One doesn't have to be a full-blown minimalist to get the house, life, and kids organized. ✔️ You don't need a better schedule, routine, or chore chart – you just really need LESS stuff. You can't organize your way in a home that is too full. Having so much stuff around gets us frustrated, angry, or intolerant in the day-to-day, but having enough to meet our needs and desires is what prevents overwhelm.  ✔️ The whole point of decluttering is to feel better and more alive. Every item you possess requires paying attention to how it feels and always seeking to answer the question if it brings you joy moving forward. ✔️ Teach kids to declutter. Are you having a difficult time teaching the little ones how to stop hoarding so much stuff and managing clutter at home? Krista teaches setting physical boundaries around their things and toys and including children in the decluttering and accumulating process. ✔️ Krista shares these practical questions to guide you when organizing your things as you start your decluttering journey: Do you still enjoy them?  Do you remember where you got them?  Do you remember why you had them?  How can you make room for the things that you still love and the things that you still want?  You don't have to become an expert in decluttering your life. Start slowly by letting go of things that overwhelm you and making space for flow and ease to come.  ✔️ We learn how to freely give away, but we also learn how to freely receive. The act of decluttering embodies a spiritual principle I teach people to keep the flow going in their lives — it's the willingness to give up things we value to help others in need. Generosity and selflessness prepare the cheerful giver to be blessed more.  Krista Lockwood teaches decluttering for moms who don't want to be full-blown minimalists. She will teach you how to have enough stuff without it becoming overwhelming so that you have more bandwidth to do the things you truly need and want. Moms are notorious for letting clutter crowd our space. We rarely feel like we have our own dedicated space in our homes, and we're always looking for a tiny nook and cranny to work and run our businesses. Decluttering isn't just about having a cleaner, more organized house, it's about creating the space that supports our mental and emotional health. How does decluttering put us in creative flow and help us get more done? In this episode, founder of Motherhood Simplified and Boss Mom Virtual Retreat speaker, Krista Lockwood returns to talk about the power of decluttering and creating space.   Our physical environment can support us in being who we naturally are. -Krista Lockwood    3 Things You'll Learn in This Episode Why declutter benefits our businessesHow does a declutter aid our creativity and put our brains into go-mode? How to create a nook of productivity in your homeDo we have to carve out a huge space for ourselves and our work, or could smaller actually be better? How to eliminate visual, mental and emotional barriersHow do we clear away clutter so cleaning doesn't become a procrastination task or an excuse to avoid more important stuff?   Guest Bio Krista Lockwood is the Founder of Motherhood Simplified, where she teaches decluttering for moms who don't want to be full blown minimalists. In 2013, she and her husband moved from Alaska to Florida with only one suitcase each. While she doesn't believe you need to go that extreme, she has been able to master the balance of having enough, but not too much. Have you ever thought that there might be a relationship between clutter and money? Krista Lockwood from Motherhood Simplified joins Bethany on the show to talk about how she and husband moved from Alaska to Florida with one suitcase per person and accidentally discovered the power of living with less, especially as a large family. This is a fun episode talking about the benefits of decluttering, the relationship it has to money, where to get started in your decluttering journey and so much more! And it is so fun listening to this conversation from a finance perspective because there are so many great correlations, not only in how having less stuff obviously costs less money, but making room in your house for the things that truly matter (like making room in your budget to spend on things that matter to you), how to start the long journey of decluttering with one step at a time (just like starting the same journey of becoming debt free or saving for something big)!Remember this is a shame free space so there is zero shame or pressure to go declutter your entire house or that you have failed if you have things in your house! This message might not be for every right now,  but I enjoyed the conversation around it and I think you will too!

However... two things can be true at the same time.  Minimalism can be used selectively in order to save you from the STUFF that you're constantly drowning in.  You can be a happy maximalist, and still apply the principal of minimalism to specific areas of your home.  This isn't an either-or world, and you get to make your own rules.  Krista Lockwood from Motherhood Simplified helps moms declutter and simplify their lives in order to maintain their sanity.  Because motherhood is a season that, well... might require some selective minimalism so that you can keep up with the specific challenges that motherhood brings (and free up room for more JOY instead).  Kelly and Krista discuss both of their minimalism journeys (one was by accident, while the other was on purpose), and why they no longer believe that minimalism is a silver bullet to fix your problems.  Do we hate minimalism?  NO! Minimalism might be the right solution for your life, but it helps to be damn sure before you dive off the deep end and end up regretting all the stuff you later realize wasn't even the real problem.  We discuss who it might be right for, and how *not* to do it so that you stay in alignment with your values.Follow Krista on Instagram, and download her free "Clear Your Clutter" guide to plug into her amazing support group for moms who want less chaos and more joy in their journey.  We're in this together!

Do you feel like all your energy is being sucked dry by clutter? Today we have Krista Lockwood on the show and she shares with us how decluttering can drastically change your life for the good.  She walks us through how we can declutter without becoming a full blown minimalist. She mentions how doing tiny little projects will provide small wins and how those can add up over time.  To choose a space in your home that is draining you like your laundry room, under the sink, junk drawer and start with that.   One topic that stood out to me is when Krista talked about how decluttering can improve every aspect of your life and why.  Hear what she has to say about this topic and more on the podcast.   Do you feel stuck, do you want to leave counting calories and dieting behind?  Do you feel you like you can achieve so much in life but your weight loss? There really is no set recipe for running a business. Krista Lockwood from Motherhood Simplified is the living proof of that. Mum of five, Krista discovered first hand just how deep the clutter-frustrations of a mum can run. Not only did she empathise. She did something about it. Krista set-up a supportive community and built her business around it. It's not the usual business model by a mile. But neither is her audience. So it makes total sense for Krista to run her business in her unique way. Have you considered a community-based business model? If it's something that has been niggling at the back of your brain, just plug in the earphones and listen to this podcast episode where Krista talks about how it's entirely feasible to build a business by building a community. It's the New Year and many of us are looking to declutter our homes - I know I am! So today's episode is super timely. I'm interviewing Krista Lockwood, wife and Mama of 5, who teaches decluttering for moms who don't want to be a full blown minimalist. In 2013 she and her husband moved from Alaska to Florida with only one suitcase each and while she doesn't believe you need to go that extreme she has been able to master the balance of having enough, but not too much.We talk about how Moms carry the guilt of decluttering, cleaning and making a lot of these hard decisions of what stays and what goes. We also talk about why decluttering is harder for some Moms than others - maybe it's because of guilt or a change in mindset or because we feel safe with our stuff. Krista tells us to trust yourself and gently coaches us to take 1 step forward to see how it makes us feel. And lastly, she tells us how we can make our homes work for us instead of our clutter ruling over us.Book she mentioned:The Bitcoin Standard: The Decentralized Alternative to Central Banking by Saifedean AmmousFind Krista + Motherhood Simplified:Website: motherhoodsimplified.com Instagram: @motherhood_simplifiedFacebook: Motherhood Simplified
