How should you behave when scuba diving with sharks? The shark population has been decimated by the cruel shark finning industry. We lose over 200 million sharks a year to the fishing industry. To see a shark on a dive is a real treat and will, unfortunately, become a rear experience in the future. If you are lucky enough to see a shark when you are diving it is an absolute privilege. But how should you behave? What should you do to ensure that you remain safe and gain the most from the experience? Here are a few tips that I use every time I am lucky enough to encounter and photograph sharks up close. And I mean bumping into you up close!

Unusual Wreck Diving stories & probabilities that make scuba so much fun,Pt2 expedition to Titanic! This was going to be another long one so we split it into 2 parts Part one, we are incredibly fortunate to be speaking with John Chatterton as he has some amazing stories to tell and wont be doing many podcasts after this so get the stories straight from John himself This was originally a podcast just about Titanic and how Johns self funded trip made it from a general discussion to a proper expedition and how their findings by chance changed the thought process and theories about how Titanic sank! We had such a good chat with John that we had to share these stories about unusual diving probabilities, like the one mentioned above, we start off with a bit about peer pressure and how even John with his vast experience will happily call it if he isn’t feeling it! A good lesson for all for sure! The probabilities he chats about are like, finding rubies and getting the rights to a certain wreck from a judge who's father was on it many years earlier! John also talks about his early days and diving on air to 250ft+ on the Andrea Doria, Lusitania and Britannic, The sister ship of Titanic, plus German UBoats, then his progression to Nitrox mixed gases and then some of the first and sometimes reliable Rebreathers A fascinating chat that we had to put out there which actually does lead on nicely to the Titanic, this will be in part 2 out soon and you wont want to miss it! It's a long one, but you have to hear the incredible stories that must be told. Listen until the end to hear the fascinating tale of the SS Mendi, lost off the south coast of the UK with the terrible loss of over 600 souls and how Martin identifies the wreck and the huge international implication that followed. Martin Woodward MBE is a shipwreck hunter that has personally discovered over 150 uncharted wrecks. Two of the most famous are the British submarine HMS Swordfish that was believed sunk off the coast of France until Martin found the true location, and it was much closer to home. The second, the Mendi, was a troop carrier in World War I that sunk with the loss of over 600 souls on board. The find has enabled surviving family members to achieve some closure.Martin has also been involved in many interesting and unusual projects such as searching for Glenn Miller's aircraft, Goering's Gold, Sir Francis Drake's coffin off Panama, the Lost City of Atlantis and the famous U.S. hijacker D.B Cooper. His great love. however, has always been finding shipwrecks, history, and artifacts from under the oceans.Add to this the fact that Martin also managed to be a member of the Bembridge, Isle of Wight lifeboat crew for 38 years and retired as coxswain. Still diving today, Martin owns and runs commercial dive operation Offshore Marine Services Ltd. He established the Shipwreck Center and Maritime Museum in 1978 and it is a must-visit if you find yourself on the Isle of Wight. Packed to the rafters with artifacts and treasures from Pieces of Eight gold coins from pirate days of old, right through to both world wars and beyond.Link to the museum www.shipwreckcentre.co.ukLink to Martin www.martinwoodward.comLink to The Mendi, the ship history forgot https://www.wessexarch.co.uk/our-work/wreck-ss-mendi

Ultimate underwater Close Calls is an eye-opening interview with Author, Film Maker, Cave Diving Instructor and Explorer Stratis Kas. tells us about his early days spending his summers growing up in the mountains of Italy, to learning to dive. He has combined both in his Travel Adventure Tourism, organizing some incredible trips to Italy and Russia. Stratis has a love of cave diving and loves to take cave divers in the little known cave systems in Greece. He talks about his own close call and what it felt like to have time to think about the effect his death would have on his loved ones. Thankfully Stratis managed to turn a potentially life-threatening situation into a positive. In this interview, Stratis tells us about a chance meeting with a fellow diver that had been in a similar situation. Stratis had always kept his story buried, but felt that if one single dive could learn from his error of judgment then talking would be a good thing. And so the book Close Calls was born. It is an incredible book, with over 70 contributors, that reads like a who's who of the most famous divers around. And they all have one thing in common. They are all human and have made mistakes. To their absolute credit, they have all shared their story of that one dive that they didn't think they were coming back from.Every diver, no matter what their competence level is, will learn from this book, Stratis tells us and 50% of all profits will go to DAN Europes' The Claudius Obermaier Fund, a charity that was created in 2004 by DAN Europe, to take care of those divers and their families who find themselves in difficult situations.

In this latest episode, we have new tech, hope you like it, Craig has a new Mic, Jim is still waiting so the sound is slowly improving! We chat with some of the best UK Inland Venues, Vobster, St Andrews, and Capernwray. They tell us what they have been doing and how they are preparing for customers when the doors eventually open. There are no dates for reopening as yet, it is too early and the risk is still too high, however, these guys are working really hard behind the scenes and keeping up to date with all the current measures and protocols, so that when they are given the green light everyone can feel assured they have taken every precaution! They want to open as much as you do, but it must be safe, Wednesdays seem like a good day at Capernwray! Find out some of the precautions they feel will need to be put in place and some surprising ones that may not? obviously, NO SPITTING at all anywhere at any time, those days have gone! Each site is different but the goal is the same! keep up to date via our Facebook Page, Youtube Channel, and via each site's own Facebook pages. Please leave us your comments and feedback, all are welcome. The next Episode features Captain Paul Watson founder of Sea Shepherd and Captain Peter Hammerstedt of the Sea Shepherd vessel Bob Barker, as seen in Whale Wars and Chasing the Thunder. Possible missing person, 15 Year old Handbag and Wallet found in Medieval underwater River Hunt! Fridge and Craig went River Hunting again this time under a Medieval Bridge dating back to 1520 Locals in the area told us that people use it to disgard things we never thought we would find a 15 year old handbag and wallet, we have handed them in to local police who were appreciative, we hope to get an update from them soon! We did find a few interesting pieces, an old vinyl LP that we will try and play to see what it is, we dont think its medieval!! an old meter of some kind and possibly the steel off an old barrel, some older crockery and an old railway lamp We took the opportunity to have a bit of a clear up while we were there and collected 3 bin bags full of beer cans, beer bottles and the usual takeaway rubbish - 3 bags in such an amazing setting!! Unfortunately there was a lot of man made rubbish in here which made our search a bit harder so we will return in a week or so with some lift bags to bring up the numerous bicycle frames and shopping tollies as seen in the video, once these are removed and disposed of we can have a proper search we will upload the video of the cleanup and the revisit later so make sure you subscribe to see what happens next, we will also have we hope an update on the handbag by then! We have lots coming up in the next few weeks including great guests, giveaways, gear reviews on Scubapro bcd and regs and more treasure hunting! subscribe and ring the bell to stay upto dateWe welcome all feedback and comments, do you have a dive site reccomendation or need somewhere searched or something located then get in touch we would be hapy to help
