Justin Salamon and I explore the intersections between the therapeutic power of working in the outdoor industry and supporting clients in our healing modalities. We explore river running, nature, regulation, intuition, sharing power and why we don't give our clients “psychic downloads”. Listen in a find out more about how we can become a safer space for those we support. About Justin Justin Salamon, MA - Certified Rolfer: "My first experience with Rolfing® SI was in 2000 when I was seeking help for chronic shoulder dislocations. I was an avid climber, backpacker and paddler working in the outdoor industry but injuries threatened my ability to continue my livelihood. My first ten series was transformative – walking was joyful in a way I had never experienced, breathing was effortless, my coordination improved and old pains disappeared. I realized that I needed to study Rolfing SI to understand the changes that had occurred in my body and to share the work with others. Since 2002 I have been privileged to practice Rolfing Structural Integration, and in the process help clients of all ages and backgrounds. I approach each session as an opportunity to understand the physical and psycho-biological patterns that make each client unique, and enjoy the challenge of helping each person become pain-free, embodied, and more comfortable in his/her everyday life. Rolfing fuels my passion for deepening my knowledge of the human body and the human experience through formal education and independent study. When I am not Rolfing you can find me helping with the management of Canyon Explorations where we offer 13-18 day human powered river trips through Grand Canyon. I still get on the river as a Guide and Trip Leader but have more time to devote to Rolfing and management. My free time is spent exploring the mountains, rivers and canyons. Most importantly my time is spent learning, adventuring and growing with my children." Website Soulful Retreat:

When the desire for friendship is not equal, things can get very tricky. My guest, the wise Ruchi Koval, is here to help. We talked about the reality of hurt feelings and disappointments in real friendships, and the question of whether every friendship needs to "fill your cup." It was a challenging letter from a listener and a challenging conversation overall. Meet Ruchi KovalRuchi is the co-founder and Associate Director of Congregation JFX, an innovative community in Cleveland, Ohio. She has been a Jewish educator for two decades, leading self-development groups for adults and teens, and mentoring educators around the world. The world's best airlines for 2021 has now been announced by AirlinerRatings which releases its annual roundup. Qatar Airways jumped up the ranking and took the top spot, beating out previous winner Air New Zealand. Air New Zealand has topped the list six times over the past several years and this year it came in at number two. Saudi Arabia's new Covid-19 rule from August is that all citizens of the country must compulsorily complete two doses of vaccination if they want to travel overseas. Spain has now reported close to 60,000 cases as the new rule in the U.K increased the number of vaccinated travellers from the U.K to visit Spain. However, Germany and France have already advised its citizens against travelling to Spain. Now the steep increase in Covid-19 cases has pushed some Spanish regions to reimpose curfews. Also, because of the increase in Covid-19 cases in Singapore, the much awaited travel bubble between Singapore and Hong Hong has been paused. This is because both the countries safety measures did not meet the required standards. Source: CNN, Wion, Skift. We hope you enjoyed this episode of JoinMyTrip Travel News. Occasionally, people find their dream job. Sometimes, they also happen to be great at it. That's what happened to Bethany Stivers when she found the job of Trip Leader, someone who gets paid to take people on amazing trips into the outdoors. In this episode, we talk about the evolution of a backpack with legs into a fearless hype man, a great reason for shaving a beard, and the enviable commute logistics of living and working beside a town ski lift.
Looking to the power of nature can be a way to free our life and mind of the negative forces that can drag us all down. Whether it's learning from the natural processes of the world around us or actually getting into nature and enjoying everything it has to offer, finding healing and a better state of mind is almost always the outcome. Lindsey Little has been exploring these ideas and the Earth through countless trips and many different jobs. In this episode, Lindsey and I talk about guiding trips in Iceland and Hawaii, her battles with Lyme disease and dengue fever, and the majesty and beauty of the banana slug. You can find Lindsey on Instagram @littlelins You can find her video of a banana slug eating salmonberries here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ritOc2NgRCk
