This month we meet Helena Close and Marie Boylan, the writing team behind brand new play "Red Army". Red Army is the flagship production for the Lime Tree Theatre in Limerick City, and is set to run from the 22nd to the 29th. The play centres on four women and their intersecting lives as they're drawn together by a shared love of Munster rugby, and the shared tragedy of the sudden death of Munster coach Axel Foley in 2016. This episode we look at the on-stage visibility and representation of women over the age of 50, especially in the world of sports. We also explore how tragedy touches and effects us all differently. We discuss the collaborative process and how it makes us each better at what we do, through what we learn from each other. Above all, we discuss the highs and lows, the craic and the buzz that draws Munster rugby fans together. Playwrights Helena Close and Marie Boylan said: “As die-hard Munster Rugby fans, Red Army is a play we felt compelled to write. It's a tribute to the club, the fans, the city of Limerick, and the late Anthony Foley. Bringing this story to life has been a team effort. From the crew at the Lime Tree Theatre; our director Pat Kiernan who understood our vision for the play implicitly; the stellar cast; and an incredible creative team. We began writing in 2017 and like a dogged Munster team we persevered and are thrilled to finally share Red Army with audiences as the first in-house production at the Lime Tree Theatre” Want to follow Helena and Marie online and find more of their work? Charles J. Bonfiglio became Chief Executive Officer and president of Tint World on Sept. 1, 2006. Charles developed the franchise system by converting a chain of six independently owned auto accessory and window tinting centers to an international franchise chain. To accomplish this, he formalized a standard uniform operations manual, trademarked the company name and logos, drafted the company's franchise disclosure document and successfully filed it with the United States Federal Trade Commission, enabling the company to become an international franchise offering in 2007. Bonfiglio had previously founded Auto Parts Network® in 2006 and served as Chief Executive Officer for the e-commerce company in Boca Raton, Fla. Bonfiglio also served as Chief Executive Officer and franchise developer for the privately held Meineke Car Care Centers from June 1, 1983, to Aug 31, 2014. His previous business experience includes founding numerous companies, acquiring, developing, and managing large-scale real estate projects in New York and South Florida.Tint World® Director of Franchise Development Anthony Foleywas raised in a franchise environment in his father's franchise “Sign Business”, a franchise company started back in 1986 out of Miami FL. Growing up in a retail store environment provided front row tickets on a day in the life of a business owner in the franchise world. A few years later, his father sold his sign business and came on board with the parent company as a Vice President at United Franchise Group, which owns about 10 brands today. That experience expanded into summers in middle school and high school as an intern. After high school, he went to Florida State University and graduated with a degree in Finance. Following graduation, I worked as an executive recruiter with Randstad Staffing Solutions. I later returned to franchising with United Franchise Group as a Regional Vice President. Shortly thereafter, I headed up a department called Franchise Greenhouse, which was a franchise development arm for different franchisors and where I also met Charles Bonfiglio, CEO of Tint World®. We started working together on a store-by-store basis at first, but shortly after I came on board as the first corporate team member of Tint World® in 2008. I wore many hats back then…development, marketing, demographics, lease negotiations – fast forward 140 licenses later with international stores developed, and here we are growing stronger than ever!Since 1982 Tint World® has provided high-quality window tinting and vehicle accessories to people who love their cars. With a wide selection of automotive products and services, clean, attractive facilities, and superior customer service, Tint World® has become America's favorite place for auto styling and marine styling accessories, and residential and commercial window film services. We have a lively, great discussion about franchisees and growth. It was a pleasure hearing the history and being able to understand and appreciate the success. The automotive segment was hot before the pandemic and is certainly even hotter now. It seems that everyone knows now that this is an essential business sector. This is a great brand with an outstanding team and business model. Please reach out to us with any questions about this brand or any others. Over the past number of weeks, we’ve been asking you to vote for Clare’s greatest ever (individual) sporting moment. We started off with 16 iconic moments in the Banner’s sporting history, and in your thousands, you whittled it down to two. The final decider was between two Anthony's- Anthony Daly’s winning speech after the 1995 Senior Hurling All-Ireland and Anthony (Axel) Foley lifting the Heineken Cup in 2006. This morning in a very special Morning Focus, we were proud to announce that the winner of Clare’s Greatest Ever Sporting Moment was indeed Axel Foley lifting the Heineken Cup in 2006! To pay tribute to the late Anthony Foley and to put into context what this moment meant to him, Gavin Grace spoke to Brendan Foley, Anthony’s father, Rosie Foley, Anthony’s sister, childhood friends Enda Keane and Donnacha McNamara and teammates Marcus Horan and Barry Murphy. Clare's Greatest Ever Sporting Moment is sponsored by Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board and Anthony's family will receive a specially crafted piece of Galway crystal to mark the occasion.
