In this episode I reviewed the recent Netflix movie, Ludo. Directed by Anurag Basu. Starring - Rajkumar Rao, Abhishek Bachchan, Pankaj Tripathi, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/ashokekr-guha/message
Ludo is a kind of a film where even the smallest of distraction can make you miss out on the whole turn of events that follow. Directed by Anurag Basu, the film features an ensemble cast including Abhishek Bachchan, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Rohit Saraf, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra, Pearle Manney and Pankaj Tripathi. Ludo is a modern age take on the circle of life and death and concept of hell and heaven. High on emotions, it's also a heady mix of comedy, drama, action, revenge, romance and thrill. There are four simultaneous stories going on — a tale of a leaked sex tape days before a marriage; a story of a dejected lover still smitten by his now married ladylove; heart-wrenching story of an imprisoned father who goes through the pain of not being able to see his daughter and lastly, a small-town boy and a girl on the run with a suitcase full of money. These four wildly different stories are linked together by the deeds of an local gangster who's both eccentric and funny. With top-notch performances and flawless storytelling, it's definitely at par with the standard of content that OTT platforms are churning.

Ahead of the release of Anurag Basu’s Ludo, the film’s cast and director chat with Anupama Chopra about the ’tragic absurdist comedy’ they were creating, how the filmmaker creates his whimsical world, and food which played a very integral part in the making of this film which stars Abhishek Bachchan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Rajkummar Rao, Sanya Malhotra, Fatima Sana Sheikh, Pankaj Tripathi, Rohit Saraf, Pearle Maaney and Inayat Verma.
Using the game of Ludo as metaphor and structural skeleton, writer-director & DoP Anurag Basu constructs four interlocking stories, starring Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Bachchan, Rajkummar Rao, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf, Pearle Maaney & Inayat Verma.

"It was very tough to decide what next when Jagga Jasoos failed.” - Anurag Basu and Pritam discuss how they created music together over 5 collaborations, if there will be a sequel to Jagga Jasoos and what they tried to achieve with their upcoming film Ludo.
This week I talk about Jagga Jasoos, directed by Anurag Basu and starring Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Saurabh Shukla, and Saswata Chatterjee. Jagga Jasoos is one of the only Indian films that I've ever seen that is a musical in the true sense of the word, as most of the dialogues in the film are actually in song. This film is one of the most inventive and delightful films that I've ever seen and I really urge everyone to check it out! I feel like every single aspect of this film including and especially the cinematography, music, and acting are expertly crafted by the entire team. I also go into why I think we don't see any more true musicals in Indian cinema. Please check this film out on Netflix! Tulsi's unwavering morals, Anurag Basu's unsurprising helplessness and of course the unforgettable Komolika *Nikaaaaaa* (come on you heard that in your head too) are practically legend. But what do they have to do with Walt Disney classics? Turns out, A LOT! Don't believe us? We promise we will have you convinced by the end of the show. This episode really does have it all, suspense, drama, gasps, and somehow IT programming and game show all rolled in one. Ekta Kapoor's shows, characters and career has been discussed and reported on endlessly. But there are some aspects of her brilliance we zeroed in on that might need further exploration. What's in a movie trailer? When it comes to Subhash Kapoor’s Jolly LLB 2 and Anurag Basu’s Jagga Jassoos, a lot. Rajyasree Sen and Deepanjana Pal talk about moustaches and other curiosities as they dissect these newly-released trailers. Both of them are fans of Madonna’s speech, delivered after the pop icon won BillBoard’s Woman of The Year award. They're less impressed by Bindass’ web series, The Trip. And there's total disagreement when the two talk about the new cover of National Geographic. Also, they tell you why Amazon Prime's over-cautious self censoring is a bad sign. All this and more discussed and dissected in this episode of Awful & Awesome Entertainment Wrap. Up your pop culture game with a little help from these two critics. And as always, there's a question at the end of the podcast.
