It's a tale of love lost on What If? Episode 4 "What If Doctor Strange Lost His Heart Instead of His Hands?". A beautifully told story we discuss all of it's spoiler filled detail in this week's podcast. Marvel's What If? Episode 4 Synopsis Executive Produced by: Bryan Andrews, A.C. Bradley, Brad Winderbaum with Kevin Feige Head Writer: A.C. Bradley Episode Written by: A.C. Bradley Episode Directed By: Bryan Andrews One small choice can change the world or destroy a universe! Christine Palmer accepts Stephen Strange's invitation to the medical dinner in his honour. But that fateful night results in the death of Christine and Stephen Strange survives the car crash and his hands are untouched. But Stephen realises how close he and Christine were; racked by grief Stephen searches for meaning and learns the mystic arts at Kamar-Taj under the direction of the Ancient One. Two years later, still grieving his lost love, Doctor Strange attempts to use the Eye of Agamotto repeatedly to save Christine. In all scenarios she dies. An echo of the Ancient One warns Stephen that Christine's death is an absolute point in the timeline that can not be undone and using The Eye will destroy the fabric of reality. But the arrogant Strange refuses to listen so the Ancient One splits Strange into two alternate versions on the same timeline. One accepts Christine's death and heads for tea with Wong, while the other heads on a journey to the lost library of Cagliostro in his attempt to save Christine. At the library, with the help of the mystical O'Bengh, The Sorcerer Supreme discovers in the book of Cagliostro how to gain the power to break the absolute point by absorbing the magical energy of other mystical creatures, in particular that of a powerful tentacled creature. The more he absorbs the more his grasp of reality fades, taking on the forms and powers of his prey he becomes Strange Supreme. He must finally confront and absorb the energy of himself contained in the alternate Doctor Strange. In the final battle, Strange Supreme overpowers Doctor Strange and absorbs his powers, using it to finally resurrect Christine. But his actions tear reality apart, disintegrating the universe around him, including Christine. Strange Supreme begs the Watcher for help, but he refuses to intervene. As Christine fades from Strange's hold, leaving Strange Supreme to grieve alone as his universe collapses. Marvel's What If? Christine Lagorio-Chafkin is a senior writer at Inc. Magazine. In this episode we discuss her recent article, "Business Leaders Spoke Up After the Capitol Riot. Will Their Voices Remain Strong?" and the response of the business community to the events of January 6. As Christine puts it, these dramatic events cause a real surge in activism among business leaders (or at least stop them from hiding behind a professional curtain of non-partisanism). So we dig into the issue of what the appropriate role of business is, or should be, in driving societal and political change. When the stakes are so high, is it possible for business to stay on the sidelines? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Her credentials might not appear at all exciting through the naked eye. As Christine puts it, "I call myself an amateur expert because most of what I know comes from experiencing trauma and living through it". Christine is an advent writer, with most of her writings featured on the Medium platform and in church publications. She is a Lutheran pastor who is not afraid to speak about her personal experience with mental illnesses nor the stigmas attached to them. As a domestic violence survivor she was blacklisted by her Bishop; because she spoke out, which led to her and her family relocating to DE. Her new Bishop is an ally who not only supports her telling my story, he encourages her to do so. Christine is the mother of two children, a 20-year-old daughter who just finished her 2nd year of college/nursing school and a 17-year-old severely autistic son, who is non-verbal and needs to be monitored at all times. He was 3 yrs old when they received his autism diagnosis. This was shortly after finding out he had lead poisoning - the people who treated him at the told us they had never seen numbers as high as his. Racism played a big role in doctors initially dismissing the symptoms of lead poisoning because we were white, middle class and only poor, black children get lead poisoning. Christine is passionate about lifting up other women - especially women of color and trans-women. She can talk for hours about domestic violence, why misogyny (just like racism) is a cancer to the human race, and how we - as a society - need to face the realities of our illness and get the treatments necessary to heal.

What would be possible if I didn't define myself based on who I've been up until this moment? That's the question that our next guest, Christine Owenell, is currently asking herself and it's transforming her life.So often, we are told not to allow our past failures or setbacks to define our lives, but what about our past successes and achievements? Can our accomplishments create expectations within us about what we think our life should like like?As Christine goes on to say, only when we suspend our expectation of who we are based on who we've been can we then live and be completely present to the infinite possibilities of any given moment. But, that's not all. The second half of this podcast we dive deep into what it looks like to build wealth consciousness in your life so that you can live a more emotionally, spiritually, relationally and financially abundant life.To learn more about Christine, visit her website, here.If you want to know more about us, you can visit our website, here.
Relationships - Today's episode is all about accountability and being whole within ourself so that we can be whole with others. Thank you, Christine Lavulo, for sharing your marital journey of separation and reconnection after 15 months apart. Christine walked out on her marriage hoping that it would light a fire under her husband. What did it do instead? It lit a fire within herself to go inward and be accountable to herself and her family for how she was showing up in her marriage. She shares about open conversations, expectations (this one gave me a gut punch), verbal warfare, and ultimately forgiveness. Lots of amazing insight that will hopefully get you thinking about how you're showing up to yourself first and foremost and in your relationships.Christine Lavulo is a speaker, trainer and writer, who is passionate about helping people create their most beautiful lives. Relationships are the key to fulfillment, and the most important relationship is the one with ourselves. I’m typing this on January 1, but whenever you read this, it is the first day of the next year of your life, and that’s a great time to start sharing your story. As a stroke survivor, survivor of some other acute or chronic trauma, care giver, professional, or just someone who has lived some life, you have a story to tell. You have experiences to share. You’ve worked through some emotional stuff. Or you haven’ worked through it, but it’s sill there. And maybe you’ve thought about writing a memoir. Christine H. Lee joined us last year to talk about her memoir, Tell Me Everything You Don’t Remember. She is an author, teacher, and stroke survivor. Today, she’s back to help you start writing your own memoir. 7 Lessons in this Episode An autobiography is about a person. A memoir is about a person’s experience. Understand the roles of author, character, and narrator. There is universality in the particular. The Oxford Comma is awesome. Get a cohort. We are about more than stroke. Keep writing. Bio Christine H. Lee is the author of a memoir (TELL ME EVERYTHING YOU DON’T REMEMBER), which was featured in Self magazine, Time, The New York Times, and NPR’s Weekend Edition with Scott Simon. Her short fiction and essays have appeared in ZYZZYVA, Guernica, The Rumpus, The New York Times, and BuzzFeed, among other publications. She also has an urban farm–you can read about her farm exploits at Backyard Politics. Her novel is forthcoming from Ecco / Harper Collins. Born in New York City, Christine earned her undergraduate degree at UC Berkeley and her MFA at Mills College. She has been awarded a residency at Hedgebrook, and her pieces have been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and placed in competitions such as the Poets and Writers’ Magazine Writers Exchange Contest, Glimmer Train Fiction Open, and others. She is currently a Distinguished Visiting Writer at Saint Mary’s College of California’s MFA program and an Editor at The Rumpus. If you would like to order a signed copy of TELL ME EVERYTHING YOU DON’T REMEMBER, you may order it from East Bay Booksellers and specify in the notes section that you would like a signed copy (or two or three) and any customization (if it should be addressed to a particular person). They will then fulfill it with signature. And you would be supporting a local bookstore, which warms Christine’s heart. Trailer for Tell Me Everything You Don’t Remember Oxford Comma Consider these two sentences: At the support group, we learned about the main causes of stroke, kittens, and Barb’s muffins. At the support group, we learned about the main causes of stroke, kittens and Barb’s muffins. The first sentence says that we learned about 3 things: The main causes of stroke Kittens Barb’s muffins The second sentence says that we learned about the main causes of stroke. Those causes are: Kittens Barb’s muffins The words are the same. The difference is that comma after kittens. That comma is called the Oxford Comma, and it’s somewhat controversial. Many folks feel you should only use it if it clarifies the sentence. Otherwise you should leave it out. I’m of the school of thought that we should always use it when writing a sentence with three or more things in a list like that. There have even been lawsuits where the decision came down to whether the comma was in the written law or not. Here is the Wikipedia article with more information. Understanding the Memoir One of the big lessons for me was understanding just what a memoir is. It’s not an autobiography, which recounts the history of the person. As I think about writing my own book, I was getting hung up on this idea. Why is my life interesting enough that someone should read about it? What is the value for the reader? But that’s not what a memoir is. A memoir is about an aspect of the author’s life and the impact it had on the author’s life. It’s not about the author’s life itself. People read autobiographies to learn about the person, but that’s not why the read memoirs. As Christine said, “People read memoirs because of the subject, theme, or writing style.” In other words, it’s not about me. It’s funny because the obvious things sometimes elude me most strongly. On mt other show, 2-Minute Talk Tips, that’s one of the key lessons I teach about public speaking. If you’re afraid of public speaking, remember, IT’S NOT ABOUT YOU. It’s about your audience. It’s about your message. It’s about your goal or call to action. It’s about what you hope to achieve by delivering that talk. It’s not about you. The story you want to tell and the lessons you want to share — they’re about more than your ego. That makes it a lot easier. Author — Narrator — Character This is another structure that Christine shared that helps in writing. We got into it when I started talking about Pathos, Logos, and Ethos in public speaking. You can learn more about that concept here. In many books, these concepts are more distinct. In fiction, especially, a character is different from the author. In a memoir, it can get a bit squishy. A writer needs to understand what role the words on the page are serving. The author is writing and knows the whole story. The narrator can provide hindsight and wisdom the character hasn’t acquired yet. The character is going through it as the story progresses. Understanding those relationships helps you write a stronger book. That is some advanced stuff, and Christine does a much better job explaining it in the interview. For my part, this is a structure I’m going to need to explore and noodle on a bit more. A Cohort A stroke survivor benefits greatly from a support group. We need that connection to other people living through something similar. We can share our victories and losses. It can help us cut through the isolation and loneliness that many survivors experience. Writers need a group, too. Find your writing cohort. Maybe it’s a group you take a class with. Maybe it’s a writing group you form through school or that you find in your community. Find a group of people that you can share experiences with — where you can celebrate one another’s wins and support each other through your struggles. Writing can be an isolating experience. It’s just you and a blank piece of paper or a blinking cursor. That’s why it’s so important to find your cohort. Stroke is part of us, but it’s not us Christine and I, of course, talked about our strokes because they make us who we are today. At the same time though, the conversation itself isn’t about stroke. It’s about writing and what authors need to know. Christine’s advice isn’t specific to stroke survivors; it applies to anyone who has gone through a major event and wants to share it with the world. In a stroke focused podcast, it’s easy to get caught up in the idea of stroke. It’s why we are part of this community. It informs who we are, but it doesn’t define who we are. We are writers, speakers, teachers, trainers, Harry Potter fans, parents, kids, friends, co-workers, bus passengers, and so much more. Stroke and disability impact all those relationships and characteristics, but they don’t erase them. A conversation like we had today lets us share the expertise we do have beyond our stroke survivor status. Walk into any stroke support group meeting and listen to people’s stories. The things we have in common are healing and empowering. The things about us that are different are fascinating. The roads and lives that got us in that same room are different with their own flavor. We bring varied lives to this community and we live varied lives as part of the community. And that’s why despite all the survivor stories that have already been written, there’s still room for your personal, powerful, one-of-a-kind story. Hack of the Week The biggest tip to writing is just to keep writing. That’s it. You don’t have to get it right and perfect at the start. Just keep writing. Revisions and edits are what turn it into the final product. Walking into any book store or library, and do you know what you will not find on the shelves? First drafts! Just keep writing. If you get stuck, just write about being stuck. If you can’t think of anything “good” to write, try to write badly. Try writing the most cheesy, confusing, inappropriate, meandering, and cliched thing you can. But keep writing. Don’t worry about grammar and spelling. Just keep writing. Because wonderful things can happen when you keep writing. Links Christine H. As Christine continues to share on scripting and journaling she discusses how important it is to line our actions up with what we believe about the person we are wanting to become. It’s very important to step into the realm of who this woman is you are wanting to become and look at her day. How does her day look like? What does she do? Does she stress about how things will happen? Is she at peace? You can get a better connection with the true you when you start writing down those things and the woman you desire to become. Scripting and journaling is a key to connecting with the true you.
As Christine continues to share about money mindset and how she’s been going through the changes, she openly shares how it can be difficult to make the change. Our minds will try to go back to what we know about money and how we should handle our spending etc... Our brains will think in the way we have trained ourselves to believe. The good news is that once we identify the old thought pattern and become aware of its negative effect, we can make an immediate choice to change our money mindset.
In episode 7 we speak with Christine Calvert, a facilitator of Holotropic Breathwork workshops and sessions. Holotropic Breathwork is a healing technique using breath to expand consciousness, developed by Stanislav Grof, a psychiatrist and researcher with over 60 years of experience studying non-ordinary states of consciousness. As Christine states, “Breath as a means to expand consciousness has been happening for as far back as we go when we look at spiritual practice.” Some of the things we cover: What's happens during a Holotropic Breathwork workshop? How the work is intended to bring us back to the rediscovery of our wholeness. The power of “holding space” and allowing the inner healer to emerge. How, counterintuitively, amplifying our symptoms can heal us. Hear about Tianna's primal scream during her workshop experience. The healing effect of releasing the ego identification of “who I'm supposed to be” and the freedom of being uncivilized in a safe container. Why does reliving a traumatic experience in this environment heal us rather than retraumatize us? Christine Calvert, LCDC, is a licensed chemical dependency counselor and certified Holotropic Breathwork Facilitator through Grof Transpersonal Training. Her passion for the healing arts comes from her own personal spiritual and emotional healing through a variety of spiritual and therapeutic modalities. She has studied with Stanislav Grof, M.D., pioneer in Transpersonal Psychology, and co-founder of Holotropic Breathwork in which she explored (and continues to explore) consciousness and the vast domain of the human psyche. She facilitates Holotropic Breathwork workshops regularly in Austin, TX and maintains a private counseling practice in central Austin. Inna Organic empowers women to achieve a deeper sense of well-being through quality organic products that are safe and results-oriented. We believe in fostering authenticity, self-care, and the knowledge of natural ingredients that keep the body and soul in shape. Inna Gives back to the society by donating 1% of net income to children education foundations in Taiwan. More about Christine: A professional business developer currently based in the Bay Area. Having lived in countries in Asia, Europe and the Americas, she has been working to bring outstanding Taiwanese lifestyle brands to the world. In the meantime, she is also a lover for clean beauty products, passionate in learning about the ingredients, the process, and the results of such products. Her deep-rooted interest in the industry stemmed from her mother's influence as a chemistry professor specializing in cosmetics, as the founder of the "Taiwan Herbal Application Association", her mother often tested out different products on herself or came up with her own products using local and seasonal plants. As Christine got to meet the founders of Inna Organic – Jimmy and Cecily – through the Taiwanese startup circle, she became fascinated with the brand’s quest to bring safe and effective products to its users. Inna’s product packaging might not be the fancy, nor are their price points the cheapest. However, the results speak for themselves resulting in high conversion rates of loyal users. In the meantime, Inna’s brand story stems from a mother’s love for her children, and the company strives to give back to children as well. This marries Christine’s love for clean beauty products and children education, bringing her to advocate for the Inna brand and its quest to educate consumers on the correct usage of different natural ingredients. Christine currently focuses on bringing Inna Organic, a clean beauty brand certified by both EWG and COSMOS, to the United States so more consumers can enjoy its products. What is Dyspraxia? If you don’t know or if you do and want to know more this week’s podcast is for you My guest Christine Draper has written a book called My Friend Josh has Dyspraxia to help more people understand dyspraxia and, more importantly, help more people understand what it means for her son Luke who has dyspraxia. Christine strives to spread awareness about the condition to help people have a better understanding of Dyspraxia. Christine starts by explaining her journey with Luke and the early days of getting a diagnosis. Concerned about her son constant dribbling, Christine took Luke to the doctor who initially dismissed it as the normal dribbling of a young child. However, Christine persisted and was finally referred with Luke to a paediatrician. Luke was diagnosed with Oral Dyspraxia and later on diagnosed with General Dyspraxia. Christine explains Dyspraxia in simple terms and talks about her son’s challenges with Dyspraxia. She explains how it impacts on his communication and coordination and how it affects his daily life, including being unable to play any sports or ride a bike. This has made it difficult for him to join activities with other children. One result of Luke’s dyspraxia (in part because of his communication difficulties) is that he never made any real friends when he was younger and now has no desire to. However, as Christine argues, as long as he is happy and content in himself, she isn’t going to try and force him to make friends. Christine goes on to talk about the impact dyspraxia has on her son’s independence. His navigation and organisation skills are affected, which means he finds getting from one place to another difficult without help. He also has difficulty with daily tasks like using a knife and cutting. We also discussed what the future might hold for Luke and Christine admitted she doesn’t know, although at this point in time she feels it will be very difficult for him to be completely independent. We discuss the impact of this on the family and, in particular, his older sister who he is very close to. One area that Luke has got a head start on is purpose. He has already written a novella with plans for it to be published later in the year. As Christine says, the purpose he gets from his writing has given him a real sense of identity and self-worth. Dyspraxia is sometimes called a hidden disorder because it is often not as obvious. But the impacts are very obvious. However, Christine and Luke show that it possible to not only live with dyspraxia but find your own identity and be seen as an individual who just happens to have dyspraxia. Visit www.journeyskills.com for more information and resources to help lead your child with additional needs toward greater independence.
As Christine navigates her way through a massive Expectation Hangover, she shares with you tips for dealing with unwanted change in a way that decreases suffering and increases faith. Listen in for some advice and also a guided meditation that will support you in becoming more present and full of peace.
Take Me Home - Pet Adoption and Animal Rescue - Pets & Animals on Pet Life Radio (PetLifeRadio.com)
Susan Daffron talks to Christine Michaels from Riverfront Cats in Florida about two cats named Johnny Walker and Tiffany who are available for adoption as a pair. Riverfront Cats, located in downtown Miami, has seen an explosion of homeless felines. Christine rescued both these cats as kittens from a nearby colony, though neither one is feral. They were probably dumped or strays who had a home at one time; they love the cushy indoor life at their foster home with Christine. As Christine points out, contrary to popular myth, most black cats actually aren't "scaredy cats" at all and are extremely social. And Johnny Walker and Tiffany are no exception. Johnny Walker is about a year and a half old and extremely people-friendly. He loves laps and even is willing to go to the store on a leash. Tiffany is a small petite female, about a year old, who loves to play. Both cats are pure black and Christine hopes someone will adopt them together, since they already enjoy each other's company. In fact, because it's "Black is Back" month, Christine is offering a two for one adoption fee, along with a gift basket including his/her pet bowls, a food mat, a bag of premium dry cat food, a stack of premium canned moist food, new toys, the book 50 Games to Play with your Cat and a bottle of Coppola wine. Johnny Walker and Tiffany would make wonderful companions for someone, maybe it's you!
