In this week's podcast, Kanoa and Jordan lament the temporary restrictions of fans at Hawaii sporting events, and get into a discussion about the season opener for the UH football team vs UCLA, as well as the first weekend of action in almost 2 years for the Rainbow Wahine volleyball team. Plus, Honolulu advances further in Little League World Series, the college football conference alignment landscape continues to shift, and the fellas introduce a new segment - "Questions you never thought would be asked". And as always the episode ends with Kanoa and Jordan sharing their "Best and Worst".

Richard Maybury and Dr. Quinton Hennigh return. The title of this week's show is the main topic featured in Richard's August 2021 monthly letter. Richard says he is 90% sure that the “Great Eruption” has begun. It will yield many bankruptcies, but also new fortunes among those who understand it. Richard says the three components of the “Great Eruption” are: 1) The “rebellion against the swamp,” 2) The new era of inflation, and 3) Cyberwar. Explanations of each component and the instability that comes with them will be explored with a focus on the new era of inflation. How bad will it get? Is hyper inflation a possibility? Will a currency reset coincide with the “Great Eruption?” Most importantly, how does Richard think those who are able to clearly envision the future direction of America can turn hard times into good times? One possibility is to own companies that produce gold and silver, which the markets will eventually demand as money. Quinton will update us on one of your host's favorite new gold producers, namely Novo Resources, that appears to be approaching optimization at its Beatons Creek gold mine in Australia. If so, these shares should be set for a nice ride to higher levels.
(8/9/21)“Climate change is a hoax—and so is coronavirus.” “Vaccines are bad for you.” These days, many of our fellow citizens reject scientific expertise and prefer ideology to facts. They are not merely uninformed—they are misinformed. They cite cherry-picked evidence, rely on fake experts, and believe conspiracy theories. How can we convince such people otherwise? How can we get them to change their minds and accept the facts when they don't believe in facts? In his new book The Storm Is Upon Us: How QAnon Became a Movement, Cult, and Conspiracy Theory of Everything, author Lee McIntyre shows that anyone can fight back against science deniers and argues that it's important to do so. Join us for a look at the defining issue of our time in this installment of Leonard Lopate at Large on WBAI.

Great discussion with comparisons to food shortages being hidden in the UK as well as USA. By the way food shortages like all throughout the course of history driven by politics not by food production issues.

With August approaching, the guys started talking about getting ready for deer season. Yeah, it's time to start planning...but there may be a little bit of dreaming about what lies beyond the misery of what is traditionally the hottest, nastiest, stormiest month of the year. Here's your Kirbyco Builders Inc. cooking tip of the week from Chef Gordon: Linguini & Clams Get water boiling for pasta, linguine or spaghetti. Cook 3/4 done. Little olive oil in the pan, couple of spoons of minced garlic. Sauteed on med/low heat for a few minutes. Don't put garlic in hot pan. Pour in some dry white wine. Sauvignon Blanc is best. Throw clams in. Turn heat on high. Cover and steam till clams open. 3 minutes or so. Drain pasta, save a cup of water. Add chopped parsley. Throw pasta in with 2-3 Tbsp of butter and cover stirring frequently. The whole deal takes about 20 minutes. If you cook the clams whole be sure to purge them or it will be gritty from the sand.

Kevin starts the episode by talking about how we are underway here in trade season for 2021. The Atlanta Braves started us off by adding two veterans on expiring contracts to their roster. Joc Pederson and Stephen Vogt are now Braves. The entire NL East is in "Buy" mode due to the fact that no one has been able to run away with this division. Kevin then gives his Farm System Rankings following the 2021 Draft. The top teams remain pretty consistent due to the top-level talent in the organizations but the movement really came in the middle part of the rankings. Did your team rise or fall in the rankings? Kevin wraps up the show discussing the games from this weekend and talking about the standings. Two out of three of the National Leagues divisions are up for grabs and the race should go down to the wire. The American League East and West also look to be up for grabs.

1 Unto thee who dwellest in heaven have I lifted up mine eyes. 2 Behold, as the eyes of servants are directed to the hands of their masters, and as the eyes of a maid servant to the hands of her mistress; so our eyes are directed to the Lord our God, until he have mercy upon us. 3 Have pity upon us, O Lord, have pity upon us: for we are exceedingly filled with contempt. 4 Yea, our soul has been exceedingly filled with it: let the reproach be to them that are at ease, and contempt to the proud.

It's a new day and age in the NCAA. Starting July 1st, college athletes were permitted to monetize their names, images, and likenesses thanks to a ruling from the Supreme Court.
