Ep. 49 - The Art of Attunement with Kristy Scher

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 31, 2023 64:11

On this episode of Happily Together, we sat down with Kristy Scher and talked about all things attunement. Kristy began her career as a perinatal and neonatal nurse.  In her work with mothers and babies, Kristy realized she had a gift for nurturing attunement in new parents — the kind of loving, responsive presence with oneself that enables healthy, nurturing attachment and connection with another. Kristy witnessed this in women again and again: when our need for attunement and nurturing is met, profound emotional and spiritual growth can happen organically.  And that we learn this kind of attunement in attuned-relationship with others. Cultivating our capacity for exquisite self-attunement became the foundation of Kristy's work.   She believes self-attunement, self-nurturing, and self-love feed a woman — and a full woman feeds the world. In addition to working 1-on-1 with women and couples, Kristy writes and teaches about intimacy, relationships, and the spiritual path of motherhood. It was born, in part, as a response to the mental health crisis and the need to find effective treatments in areas beyond psychiatry. These include digital therapeutics, neuro-supports, and psychedelics. Referring to MINDCURE as the Netflix of Mental Health, Ramsden cites that the company's digital therapeutics platform iSTRYM has parallel qualities, constantly optimizing and customizing to provide predictive, personalized recommendations.“Our tech is more deliberate than others' and at scale, I believe we will have the largest psychedelic repository of human experience data -- which means we can shorten the time it takes to heal.”With a psychedelic Renaissance underway, Ramsden finds herself a pioneer on a frontier (again) – and with the most precious of commodities. “We have one mind,” she said. “It's our greatest asset.”See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

They speak on how this all allows for the introduction of deep, meaningful relationships into your life as well as the strengthening of the relationships you already have. They also dive deep into emotional honesty as being fundamental to progression (or regression, if you lack it). Emotional honesty, they say, serves as a guide that allows you to filter the friendships and other relationships that serve you from those that don't. That honesty also helps you accept the ease of falling in love and finding your person. Finally, they reflect on why your perspective of events, particularly challenging ones, is the key factor to your getting through them while taking away valuable lessons for growth. Those are only byproducts. Caleb shares how shattering limiting beliefs helps us live in the present moment and unlock our fullest potential. We give our thoughts on how to make the gradual transition of seeing life happening to us, to life happening for us, to life happening through us.Powerful QuotesAs you become more self-aware and more conscious of who you are and the driving forces behind your life, you know if what you're about to do is an act of self-betrayal or not. The Questions That Have Defined Our Lives

We are SO excited to release this episode as the first episode on our new podcast! The truth is, we're all looking for answers in life. And, I think we can all agree that there is no shortage of people out there giving us the answers. Well, maybe we should say the answer that worked best for them. But, as you might know, life isn't as black and white as we sometimes wish it would be. What worked for me, might not work for you. And, that's why we believe that while we are all looking for answers, we need to start learning how to ask the right questions, while also learning how to position our hearts to live out those questions, now.Rainer Maria Rilke said, "Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books that are now written in a very foreign tongue. Do not seek the answers, which cannot be given to you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Life the questions now. And perhaps you will gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer."And, on the first episode of Kara and Caleb, both give us a detailed account of what it looked like to give up the need for answers in their lives, live in the questions, and as a result live into the answer they've always been looking for.If you want to know more about Kara, you can do that here.If you want to know more about Caleb, you can do that here.Follow Kara on Instagram, here.Follow Caleb on Instagram, here.
