Send us a textStarting off the New Year with something a bit more fun and a little unusual, but still the topic of weight loss: old school diet myths! Doing a bit of research I came across a crazy series of fad diets that not only spans to things our grandparents and parents did, but some from hundreds of years ago! A few of them I had never heard of, some I thought were much newer than they actually are, and I'll even share a handful of ones I've tried myself in the past! Between the kind laughs, I'll also touch on why people, myself included, have fallen for these diets and why some of them “kind of” worked, of course bringing it back to the true effective weight loss method, the calorie deficit! Tune into hear me chat more about:• Diets by decade from single food diets, to skipping breakfast, to special food combos and liquid diets.• Topical creams, slimming soaps and shaking the weight off with belts and chairs. • Raw food diets and foods that were claimed to be bad, like eggs.• The low-fat food craze and starvation mode myth.• Reflections on the patterns and how we've always been obsessed with “easy” weight loss. I hope you are having a great start to the New Year, but if you need added support in this time, consider checking out my membership and resources in the links below! As always keep trying, keep tracking, don't be intimidated and don't give up. You've totally got this! Looking for help on your weight loss journey? Welcome to an insightful episode of 'The One Guy Show,' where we unravel the concept of the "Personal Perfect Diet". Our hosts, alongside business guru guest Hayden Rolfe, dissect and discuss various widely known diets and their effectiveness based on lifestyle and goals. Noting that every 'perfect' diet is subjective, we delve deep into the importance of personal preferences, dietary flexibility, and focusing on one's lifestyle. We believe in a wholesome dietary plan, suggesting that 70% to 80% of it should comprise nutritious foods, while leaving a window of 20% to 30% for soul foods such as pizza and ice cream. Our discussion explores how immune system conditions, personal lifestyles, and income levels can affect a person's diet. We also provide tips on creating a diet that feels more like a lifestyle choice rather than a burdensome sacrifice. Our discussion offers insights into eating habits, nutritional priorities, and understanding personal metabolic preferences. We also highlight the misconception around the perfect diet and how it's not about the fads that circulate on social media or eliminating unhealthy foods. The real key is to be flexible with your food choices and incorporate as much nutrient-dense food as possible without feeling guilty or restricted. Additionally, we address the significant role whole foods play in our diets and their effect on mental health. We also emphasize the importance of protein intake and discuss biases around different diets and the relevance of supplements. This episode is teeming with dietary information aimed at helping you craft a personal diet plan to suit your specific lifestyle and needs. Tune in for some interesting insights and tips on achieving a healthy, flexible, and enjoyable diet journey. If you have prediabetes and need to lower your blood sugar and/or lose weight to avoid going on medications, this episode is for you. Joining us today is Jill Weisenberger, MS, RDN, CDCES, CHWC, FAND. She is the author of the bestselling book, Diabetes Weight Loss–Week by Week, as well as The Overworked Person's Guide to Better Nutrition, and Prediabetes: A Complete Guide 2nd edition. An expert in nutrition, culinary topics, and diabetes, she is often quoted in web and print publications including Today's Dietitian, USA Today, and Prevention.com. She has counseled thousands of individuals wishing to develop better habits or to change the course of a disease. One of her biggest messages to share is that prediabetes is not pre-problem. Fasting insulin can predict type 2 diabetes at least 10 years before glucose or A1c. So if you haven't had your insulin checked, now is the time, even if your glucose and A1c are in normal or borderline ranges. Dr. Anne Peled, MD is a surgeon, an educator, a researcher, a mother, an athlete, and a breast cancer survivor. Just a few years into starting her own thriving breast cancer and plastic surgery practice, she was diagnosed with breast cancer herself, which gives her the unusual perspective of both the expert and the patient. With her husband Ziv Peled, MD, also a board-certified plastic surgeon, she is currently pioneering an entirely new way of treating breast cancer with a combined mastectomy and reconstruction technique that preserves the nipple, the skin, and the sensation, with manageable recovery and hospital time. She started researching this method of surgery when she herself was faced with the decision about what treatment to have for breast cancer, and there was no option like this available to her at that time. Her goal is for women to come out of her care feeling stronger than they ever have been, and it is this holistic approach to healthcare that is the underpinning to her practice and her teaching. We hope you enjoy this episode and share it with someone you know who may benefit from knowing this kind of procedure is an option if they are facing breast cancer.Subscribe & ReviewSubscribing and leaving a rating and review are important factors in helping the Reshape Your Health Podcast and the YouTube Channel reach more people. We believe sustainable weight loss and better health occurs as 2 sides of the same coin. There's the strategy side, and the mindset side of the coin. The mindset side consists of your thoughts, emotions, and habits which manifest as your weight and health. You cannot master your physical state without also mastering your mental and emotional state. Your thoughts create your emotions, your emotions drive your actions, and your actions create your results. This lesson does a great job explaining one aspect of the mindset side of the weight loss coin - The Law of Attraction. This lesson is from Module 5 in our course where we teach you how to craft your Personal Faith Formula. This is like your master mindset document that keeps you focused and self-accountable - if you read it with intention every day. We are actually offering a private coaching call for each new Zivli member so that we can offer personalized support to craft this powerful document. When someone is on the fence about joining Zivli, a big thing that holds them back is fear. Common fears include missing out on social events, feeling hungry or restricted, feeling like a failure again if they don't lose weight or keep it off, fear of change, fear of what you'll have to “give up” and fear of judgment or criticism from others about your choices or how you spend your time. So much fear can arise when we are pursuing big goals! This lesson helps you better understand fear, and redefine it from something that keeps you stuck and scared, into a powerful agent for change.Subscribe & ReviewSubscribing and leaving a rating and review are important factors in helping the Reshape Your Health Podcast and the YouTube Channel reach more people. Beth's primary goal was to enter her next decade as physically, emotionally, and spiritually healthy as she could be.Through our Zivli program, she was able to lose 20 pounds AND keep it off for a year now. She's strong, healthy, and active.
One of our favorite things to do is hear about Zivli member wins and success stories. What made them successful in reaching their goals? What did they do differently than before? What is their thought process like? What's their daily routine? This week we're honored to share an interview with Tracy.Aside from looking and feeling amazing, Tracy also saw these results after she joined Zivli and put into practice what we teach: ✅ No more joint pain

Diet and exercise is aren't the only shows in town when it comes to weight loss. Sleep plays a crucial role in weight loss due to its impact on various physiological processes. Sleep supports hormone regulation, specifically leptin and ghrelin, which control appetite and hunger. Inadequate sleep disrupts this balance, leading to increased hunger and food cravings, and reduced satiety. Moreover, during deep sleep, the body undergoes essential metabolic and restorative processes that aid weight loss. So to help us prioritize sleep so that we can get all these amazing benefits, we invited Dr. Angela Holliday-Bell to the show. Dr. Holliday-Bell is the author of Sleeping on the Job, and she helps corporate employees develop wellness strategies to maximize performance and decrease burnout through better sleep.
