Barry, Abigail, and third-time guest Zachary Hummel, brother to Abigail and son to Barry, discuss Under Pressure by Logic and sample Burton's Best, Seaside Sour, Windtalker, Baltic Porter, and Brew Club 9th Anniversary Ale from Community Brewhouse in Sanford, Florida. Many thanks to Gary Holmes and Aaron Libera, Co-Owners of Community Brewhouse, for sitting down with us to discuss the fascinating story behind Community Brewhouse and the Sanford Homebrew Shop. Zach has seen Logic twice, once on the Bobby Tarantino vs. Everybody Tour in Tampa (setlist), and once on the Confessions of a Dangerous Mind tour in Orlando (setlist). Zach noted that Under Pressure contains a sample from Eazy-Duz-It by Eazy-E. These lyrics deserve your attention. We got a lot of the information shared on this episode from the Genius annotations for each song. Read about Barry's friend Bob Becker, who at the age of 74 broke the course record during the 2019 Race for the Ages ultra-running event in Tennessee using non-alcoholic O'Doul's as part of his hydration strategy! Logic has broken his retirement, for better or worse. Bobby Tarantino III emerges from the silence as the first studio album since his departure back in July 2020. It's too bad the album was trash. If that offends you, perhaps our podcast might convince you. If it doesn't, then you can at least make up for the time you lost by listening to our entertaining discussion. Hope you enjoy. The stylistically dynamic and voluble Logic launched his rap career through uploads and mixtapes prior to signing a Def Jam deal that fostered a sustained mainstream presence throughout the second half of the 2010s. The MC, singer, songwriter, and producer made his recording debut in 2009 and five years later hit the Top Five with his debut album, Under Pressure (2014), the first of several conceptual full-length projects to enter the Billboard 200 and rap charts within the upper reaches. Logic's ascent continued through Everybody (2017); his third proper LP debuted at the top of multiple Billboard charts with weighty themes including mental health, exemplified by "1-800-273-8255," a number two pop hit nominated for a Grammy award. Logic has since issued secondary volumes of his Bobby Tarantino and Young Sinatra series, the latter capped with YSIV (2018), and has published a novel, Supermarket (2019), with an accompanying rock-oriented soundtrack. He later followed the novel and soundtrack with his latest project, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind.
The Young Sinatra himself, Logic, drops by Tyson Ranch for Hotboxin' with the fellas. They discuss Bobby Tarantino's album "YSIV" which he produced with Wu Tang Clan as well as his latest single "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind" where he explores the ego. Logic tells Iron Mike and EB about his upcoming book "Supermarket", and about his new production company. Good times and lots of smoke in the air in this feel good episode of Hotboxin'.
