We're talking… Easter feasts, the long-awaited Ranganathan family visit to the Davis's new home, the most beautiful cat ever, a very competitive FIFA tournament, Romesh vs the West Sussex County Council schools board (and the Netflix film version of that heroic story), corduroy vibes, wearing skinny jeans, ape-like physiques and the final week before Rom runs the London Marathon. Plus, Tom's idea for a Bible revamp and an email about a very troublesome ingrowing hair. For questions or comments, please email us at wolfowlpod@gmail.com - we'd love to hear from you. My guest today is a member of one of my networking groups, and I'm pleased to be talking to Romesh Jeyaseelanayagam of The FD Consultant. The FD Consultant is a collective of part time finance director consultants. After qualifying as an accountant, Romesh spent several years working at FTSE 100 businesses. Since 2008 he has either been full time chief financial officer or finance director of several successful businesses. He is passionate about helping businesses grow, which is why he set up the group five years ago; to be able to share his skills and expertise. Romesh shares how many businesses don't need or don't have the budget for a full time finance director but do perhaps need support. This is where The FD Consultant comes in. He talks about how when running a business most of us don't have the skills to do everything, and instead of worrying about finance and administration, by using part time finance directors, they can focus on their skills and passions. He also explains how understanding and preparing for what is ahead in your business is so important, and how not managing cash flow is the main reason many businesses fail.Just having a passion for what you do isn't enough – the business has to be viable, profitable and have positive cash flows. Romesh uses a wonderful bathroom scales analogy – you keep thinking I'm fine, I'm in good shape, but then when you get on them, the numbers aren't okay! And the numbers don't lie. So it's all about being prepared, and looking at and learning to understand data, which is what he helps people to do – in a way that works for them, rather than using fancy accounting terms! We also talk about PR, and Romesh shares what he has done since starting the business. Among the things he does, which he refers to as a learning curve – he has a podcast. To contact Romesh:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/romesh-jeyaseelanayagam/Website: https://www.thefdconsultant.com/You Tube podcast: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjkFJ4VONDkIf you would like to contact me, you can visit my www.Scottmedia.uk or join my free Facebook group here https://www.facebook.com/groups/prtribe

There's a plethora of audio problems and wonky wi-fi on this week's show - so apologies in advance for that. But amongst all the technical troubles, we're talking… Tom's Muay Thai injury, having hectic schedules, a bit of Stormzy schadenfreude, some bakery shop sparring, a Christmas turkey X-Factor, Romesh's film-set catering, more marathon training and an electrolyte endorsement. Yet he does recall once cracking a smile after riding Ratatouille: The Adventure and being surprisingly thrilled by The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ at Disneyland® Paris. From a maths teacher and occasional rapper to one of the UK's most popular comedians, you would think this was the setup to one of Romesh Ranganathan's typically deadpan jokes. However, as is the case with most comedians, behind the jokes and laughter lies pain. After bursting onto our screens, Romesh has been constantly working, always afraid that his success could slip out from under him at any moment, stemming from his family struggles as a teenager when his father was sent to prison and life as he knew it fell apart. In this hilarious but also intimate conversation, Romesh discusses the life experiences that have provided him with the endless material for his sold-out shows, but also the challenges that have made him the man he is today. In this episode I spoke with stand-up comedian Martin Graham, who talked about shouting at Romesh, imposter syndrome, when the material doesn't fit and racing to the punchline. LOOK OUT! It's only Films To Be Buried With!Join your host Brett Goldstein for a special REWIND edition, as he talks life, death, love and the universe with comic and actor ROMESH RANGANATHAN!A lovely oppportunity to catch up with an episode from the archives, which was a true ray of light in a very difficult time. Of course, times are differently difficult now but this opens a window on a time not far from recent memory, where we were looking for laughter and distraction while also dealing with an unprecedented crisis. Naturally things don't dwell on that part - it's more just for context. Below is the original writeup for the episode - enjoy!!!The memories of an actual face to face encounter now seem so old and faded, it's hard to even consider such an event. Let alone a live show. Can you even imagine? Well, with things as they are still, Brett has brought the podcast vehicle to your door with facemask and gloved hands once again, with guest in tow, the excellent multi-threat comic Romesh over the internet! Proper good times to be had, conversationally roaming freely with reckless abandon that brings to mind those halcyon days of a couple of months ago, including being a national treasure (Romesh won't have any of it), his Mum being a breakaway star, the thrill of trying to master stuff (especially in lockdown times), working with the family in the picture and what mayhem or paradise that brings, packing for the afterlife, knockoff Care Bears and a HECK ton more. Such a good one, you'll thoroughly enjoy. This week we are revisiting highlights from two very prominent people in British Media - Romesh Ranganathan and Katie Price.Romesh is one of the UK's most successful comedians but as you will hear in this conversation he experienced seismic changes in his life before he became famous. His whole world was turned upside down as a child when within the space of six months, his house was repossessed, he changed schools, his mum found out his dad was having an affair and his dad went to prison! Here we revisit him telling us about his childhood and relationship with his Dad after these events. Katie Price, best known as a glamour model ‘Jordan' has had a rollercoaster of a life, so this episode in March 2021 was the same. She discussed her early days and fame, her relationships (she's been married 3 times), her five children, online abuse and feeling more herself. But here we revisit Katie telling us about her mental health, what was then her recent stay in the Priory and her relationship with the press. And if they did, why can't they remember it (or remember anything else, for that matter)? And just when they thought it couldn't get any harder, why didn't anyone warn them about the slices of unmatched euphoric joy and pride that occasionally come piercing through, drenching you in unbridled happiness in much the same way a badly burped baby drenches you in milk-sick?Join Josh and Rob as they share the challenges and madness of their parenting journeys with lashings of empathy and extra helpings of laughs. RETRO RHLSTP #46 Romesh Ranganathan - Richard has a controversial theory about the recent FIFA controversy and gets paid by a man to call him a fucking idiot to his face before introducing former maths teacher and toilet crier Romesh Ranganathan to the stage of Richard Herring's Leicester Square Theatre. In possibly the longest RHLSTP they discuss the problems of trying to procure adequate vegan cheese, cost analysis of airline food, whether a lazy eye is really a trademark and what it would take to get Romesh to have a tattoo of Richard on his arm. Find out how you can break your penis and what to do if you then get some jalfrezi on it. Ramesh also has to answer the cash for questions that Richard forgot to ask Emma Kennedy. It goes on for a very long time and a lot of it is about babies, but remember you can stop listening any time you like, unlike the poor captives in the theatre.SUPPORT THE SHOW!Check out our website http://rhlstp.co.ukSee details of the RHLSTP tour dates http://richardherring.com/gigsBuy DVDs and Books at http://gofasterstripe.com See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
