In the deep, mist-covered swamps of Louisiana and the shadowed bottomlands of Arkansas, something has been seen. Something big. Something wild. And for decades, the stories have haunted locals and fueled whispered warnings: Don't go out there after dark.In this episode, we travel first to the murky waters of Honey Island Swamp. Since the early 1960s, there have been sightings of a hulking, hair-covered creature said to stand over seven feet tall. It's known for its piercing yellow eyes, webbed footprints, and the foul stench it leaves behind. Some say it's an undiscovered primate. Others say it's something far older, something tied to the ancient legends of the land. Then we head north, across the state line, to the town of Fouke, Arkansas. In 1971, a quiet rural community was shaken by a terrifying encounter that left a family fleeing their home and sparked one of America's most enduring monster legends. The creature became known as the Fouke Monster—or the Boggy Creek Monster. Witnesses describe a towering figure with glowing red eyes and long arms that swing like a great ape.The stories are chilling, the evidence mysterious, and the legend refuses to die. Finally, we follow a trail that may tie these two legends together. A story that crosses swamps, rivers, and state lines. A story of men who went looking for the truth—and may have found it. Or maybe something found them. Are these two creatures part of the same mystery? Separate beasts haunting different landscapes? Or is it all just folklore—old stories to keep people from wandering too far into the dark? You decide. But remember, some legends are more than just stories.Get Our FREE NewsletterGet Brian's Books Leave Us A VoicemailVisit Our WebsiteSupport Our SponsorsVisit Untold Radio AMVisit HIMS.COM

In Arkansas folklore, the Fouke Monster, also known as the Boggy Creek Monster and the Swamp Stalker, is purported to be an ape-like creature, similar to descriptions of Bigfoot, that was allegedly sighted in the rural town of Fouke, Arkansas during the early 1970s. The creature was alleged to have attacked a local family. It has since become a part of Arkansas folklore. It has also influenced local culture in Fouke, with some businesses capitalizing on the local lore. That is right, we're back with another cryptid episode. We all know that the Lizard Man ended with two camps you can be in: I believe in the Lizard Man and I (Kind of) believe in the Lizard Man. Will our episode end in a similar way as Zoey tells Robin and listeners about the Fouke Monster of Fouke, Arkansas?A creature also known as the Boggy Creek Monster or the Swamp Stalker, this southern sasquatch has it's first recorded sighting in 1908 but really took off around 1971 when it attacked a family with the last name of Ford. The creature scared them so badly that they moved out of the house they had just moved into the week before. But the Fouke Monster isn't just out there scaring people by punching in their windows, he's also a Movie Star with no less than five movies based on him. So listen to the facts and determine: Do you believe in the Fouke Monster? Zoey will tell you what she thinks. But first, we have a special segment of Last-ish Words-ish from Robin for our Something Spooky (or maybe a little Silly). CW: LanguageSources: https://hauntedhospitality.wordpress.com/2022/02/08/ep-46-orangutan-king-or-fouke-monster/
