Steve Thomson and Doug Swinhart back for Tech Talk. They open the show discussing the importance of keeping separation of personal and work information on your machines. A listener asks about AI and printers and it spurs a conversation about artificial intelligence and what can be sacrificed with its unchecked application. Steve is mostly confused about Microsoft 360's overcomplications… it's so bad that Doug wonders if they're actually selling support rather than the product. Doug gives his thoughts on external hard drives and gives recommendations if you're looking to purchase extra storage. When to move on from Windows 10 and what antivirus protection you should use.

I've been reading about the many Democrats who are anti-Semitic and how Kamala and Biden lash out at this tiny country daily. That led me to wonder about people all over the world that hate Israel and act similarly. To me Israel is one of the greatest proofs of Bible truth that exists today. Consider the size of Israel. It is about 473 times smaller than the United States. Israel is just 263 mi long from north to south, and its width ranges from 71 miles to, at its narrowest point, 9.3 miles. Can you imagine a country just 9.3 miles wide? . . . https://www.wordsfortheday.com/2024/11/tread-lightly/

In this episode of the Defend Your Ground podcast, Ben Burr and Simone Griffin interview Tate Morgan from Sons of Smokey and the Gambler 500. They discuss the origins of the Gambler 500, a race that evolved into the largest trash cleanup event in the world. Tate explains how the Sons of Smokey organization was created to fund the trash cleanup efforts and develop an app for reporting and mapping trash sites on public lands. The conversation also touches on the perception of the Blue Ribbon Coalition and their role in advocating for off-road enthusiasts and protecting access to public lands. In this part of the conversation, Ben and Tate discuss various topics related to public land usage and management. They touch on the impact of national monuments on access and activity, the misconception that motorized users cause more damage than non-motorized users, the importance of getting people out on public lands to foster stewardship, the balance between concentration and dispersion of recreational activities, the role of technology in accessing new areas, the need for responsible use and stewardship among side-by-side users, and the impact of closures and restrictions on public land. They also address the perception that the motorized community is to blame for closures and emphasize the importance of unity and collaboration among different user groups. Ben highlights the need for fair and evidence-based decision-making and challenges the narratives that often dominate public land discussions. In this final part of the conversation, Ben and Simone discuss the importance of education and advocacy in public land management. They address the need for organizations like Tread Lightly and Sons of Smokey to educate users about responsible recreation. They also emphasize the role of administrative advocacy and litigation in influencing land management decisions. The conversation then shifts to the Lakeview Resource Management Plan in southern Oregon, specifically the Christmas Valley Sand Dunes. They discuss the different alternatives proposed in the plan and the potential impact on access and recreation. They encourage listeners to submit comments and get involved in the public comment process. In this episode of the Off-Road Racer Podcast, My Brother and partner Josh Martelli returns to the podcast to talk about his recent appointment to the California BLM Desert District Advisory Council (DAC). This council advises and gives recommendations to the BLM office, on issues such as fire management, land use planning, and what we are obviously interested in, off-highway vehicle use. This appointment is essentially a seat at the table, with direct communication with the BLM offices, to make sure our voice as off-roaders is heard, and another part of the effort to keep land open for OHV use. Josh and I also talks about other efforts going on right now, from organizations like Tread Lightly and the Off-Road Business Association (ORBA), and the clean-up events we host at our own races. I'm your host Matt Martelli, and this IS the Off-Road Racer Podcast.

They stress the significance of being prepared for medical emergencies to ensure the safety of participants. 24:08 Three rangers died in a tragic accident, one of whom was driving without 4-wheel drive knowledge, leading to a rollover in Mohave National Preserve. The vehicle was displayed at the park headquarters as a reminder of the dangers of four-wheeling. 30:02 Overlanding tours require 4WD vehicles for camping at various sites each night before sundown. The tours prioritize getting to camp early for dinner, and there are always interesting activities. 36:05 It's essential for permitted outfitters to adhere to guidelines in backcountry tours to preserve the environment and maintain their permits, as not doing so could result in significant repercussions and damage their reputation in the industry. 36:38 Bob is deeply committed to promoting environmental ethics and sustainability through his work as a master tread trainer for Tread Lightly. He emphasizes responsible off-roading and leaving campsites cleaner than they were found. 43:30 Hybrid vehicles provide extended range with both battery and internal combustion engines. Toyota is showing interest in hydrogen engines, such as their new v eight hydrogen engine, using hydrogen as an alternative to traditional fuels like gasoline or diesel. This approach aims to create an electric vehicle that runs on hydrogen directly, rather than converting it to electricity. 48:34 Praising Starlink tours with OBD 2 connector for diagnosing check engine light, but limited by the type of connector. 57:14 Not all Jeeps are great on the highway; consider your specific needs and usage before purchasing a vehicle. 58:16 Desire to shift focus to off-road safety training and build a professional association for training instructors in the industry, inspired by witnessing the success of a similar association in scuba diving. Episode 11 of the Tread Lightly podcast dives deep into the topic of foam rolling! Foam rollers are very popular recovery products. In our first episode of the Tread Lightly podcast, we examine the popular "rule" that you should not run for longer than three hours in marathon training. Does the evidence support this? We take an evidence-based and practical approach to long run duration. In this episode, we discuss: - The origins of the three hour long run rule and how it may be outdated - How to recover better from long runs - What research actually says about long runs in marathon training - How should 4, 5, or 6 hour marathoners train? - How can you adjust your training to ensure that you are preparing yourself for your marathon (or ultra) without getting injured? This week I talk about an analogy my therapist shared with me on boundaries. I hope it makes as much sense to you as it did to me. So often we let our guard down (boundaries) when communicating with someone that we have clear boundaries with. When that happens sometimes things are said and we start showing up in a way that is not the best version of ourselves. Or we talk to someone and let our guard down and then things get messy. Instead we need to stay true to our boundaries- they are in place to protect us and those we love. Please follow me on instagram and facebook @ happilyevenaftercoach and if you want to see what coaching is all about I offer a free one hour coaching session via zoom. Email me: hello@lifecoachjen.com for any comments or questions. Thanks for listening, please like and review as well as share with your family and friends.
